Durch die auf beiliegender Zeichnung dargestellte Construction einer Mundharmonika soll auf einfache Weise erreicht werden, auf dem Instrument zwei verschiedene Tonarten spielen zu können.The construction of a harmonica shown in the accompanying drawing should can easily be achieved by playing two different keys on the instrument to be able to.
Das Instrument hat zwei Stimmplatten, welche über einander liegen, jedoch derart abgestimmt sind, dafs für jede Tonleiter die Stimmen in beiden Platten liegen, so zwar, dafs z, B. ein bestimmter Ton einer Scala in der oberen, der nächste in der unteren Stimmplatte liegt, und umgekehrt. Dadurch ist zwischen je zwei Tönen in einer Stimmplatte ein Zwischenraum geschaffen, in welchem eine Stimme angebracht ist, die der zweiten Tonscala angehört und beim Anblasen der ersten abgesperrt werden mufs. Letzteres geschieht durch den am Mundstückrost angebrachten Schieber M. Dieser ist doppelgitterförmig durchbrochen, und zwar so, dafs stets einer Oeffnung für die obere Stimmplatte ein geschlossener Theil für die untere Stimmplatte gegenübersteht. Wird der Schieber verschoben, so werden diejenigen Mundstücköffnungen frei, welche der anderen Tonreihe entsprechen. Es kann daher durch Verstellung des Schiebers J? die eine oder andere Tonreihe der beiden Stimmplatten zur Geltung gebracht werden.
