Hierbei ist eine Speicherung der Daten von der Durchflußmenge/dem Verbrauch am Verbraucherort oder zentral (bei Lieferant) vorgesehen. Desweiteren könnte eine Kombination und Verknüpfung der verschiedenen Übertragungs möglichkeiten angewandt werden. Es ist auch vorgesehen, eine bestimmte Menge Daten zwischenzuspeichern und dann erst in komprimierter Form per Telefonleitung, Funk oder Satellit weiterzuleiten. Außerdem wird eine Messung des Gesamt- und Momentanverbrauches, sowie die Ermittlung von Spitzen werten möglich sein. Um diese ermittelten Werte dem unbefugten Zugriff Dritter auszuschließen, ist eine Übertragung in verschlüsselter Form vorgesehen.
