Innendurchmesser stark voneinander abweichen. Schweißringe lassen sich in nachteiliger Weise nicht dem abweichenden Außen- bzw. Innendurchmesser anpassen und lassen sich nur schwierig anbringen. Schweißmanschetten oder -bänder haben den Nachteil, daß die Heizwiderstandsdrähte an ihren Stirn enden beim Erweichen der Kunststoffmasse miteinander in Be rührung kommen können und kurzschließen, so daß die ange strebte Abdichtung nicht erhalten wird. Der Zwischenraum 9 soll so groß sein, daß beim Verschweißen und Erweichen der beiden Schweißmanschetten 7 deren Heizdrähte 8 mit Si cherheit nicht in Berührung kommen. Die Schweißmanschetten 7 bestehen aus einem Kunststoff, der bei Erwärmung der Heizdrähte 8 erweicht und sowohl mit den Mantelrohren 3 als auch mit dem Schrumpfrohr 10 verschweißbar ist. Die Heizdrähte 8 sind mit Anschlüssen für den elektrischen Strom versehen. Anschließend wird das Schrumpfrohr 10 über den Zwischenraum bzw. Hohlraum 6 geschoben, wobei beide Schweißmanschetten 7 überdeckt sind. Daraufhin wird in ei nem weiteren Arbeitsschritt das Schrumpfrohr 10 erhitzt und aufgeschrumpft. Durch das Erhitzen der Schweißmanschetten 7 wird sodann eine gas- und wasserdichte Verbindung zwischen den beiden Mantelrohren 3 und dem Schrumpfrohr 10 geschaf fen (vgl. auch Fig. 2). Anschließend wird der Zwi schenraum 6 einschließlich der beiden Hohlraumerweiterungen 11 mit einer Kunststoffmasse ausgeschäumt, die nach dem Aushärten einen wärmeisolierenden Schaumstoff bildet. Die Schaumstoffmasse wird zweckmäßig in eine der beiden Füllöffnungen 12 eingefüllt, so daß sie über die Mitte des Hohlraums zur anderen Füllöffnung 12 hin fließt.
