Abstract

In a mail distribution assembly, the items for a mailing are taken separately from a stack, or stacks for collation. Any overlap is detected by a number of different measurements for each take-off to give an overlapping index for given measured values. Each established index is assigned to a probability (P mu i) for an overlap which has been set by a statistical study of a large number of representative test mailings. The total probability (P) for an overlapping is taken from the separate indices and their associated probabilities according to the following relationship: P=1-((1-P( mu 1)e1)(1-P( mu 2)e2)...(1-P( mu n)en)). Any overlapping is indicated on exceeding a selected threshold probability (Pg).

Description

The present invention relates to a method for determining overlaps according to the preamble of claim 1.

It often happens in shipment distribution systems that those to be processed flat programs are not available individually, but overlapped by the Shipment distribution system can be transported. This overlap occurs when instead of just One consignment deducted several consignments from the substance input will. In this case one speaks of a double or multiple deduction. A Misalignment is then almost inevitable. That is why these overlaps be recognized; in order to avoid misdistribution eject.

B.According to the prior art, there are various solutions to overlap determine, e.g. B.

Detect overlapping of flexible flat mail items by temporary Deflection of movable mail segments perpendicular to the conveying direction and Detection of the flashback behavior of the mail items (DE-43 37 004 A1).
    2. Measure the shipment length (for the first time)
A program measured as too long can also be an overlap (DE-OS 20 28 004).
    3. Measurement of the shipment length (a second time)
The difference to the first length measurement is evaluated. If the difference between these lengths is not equal to zero, this indicates an overlap whose individual broadcasts have shifted against each other.
    4. Measurement of the shipment height
A jump in the measured value of the upper and / or lower edge of the item indicates an overlap.
    5. Measuring the consignment thickness
A jump in the measured value of the consignment thickness indicates a second consignment edge and thus an overlap.
  • 6. Feststellen zweier kurz hintereinander liegender Sendungskanten (DE-AS 12 10 601). 6. Detection of two consecutive consignment edges (DE-AS 12 10 601).
  • 7. Barcode-Erkennung
    7. Barcode recognition
(Applicable only for shipments that already have a code). If the barcode overlaps, there may be a shipment overlap.
  • 8. Identificationscode-Erkennung
    8. Identification code recognition
(Applicable only for shipments that already have a code). If the identification code overlaps, there may be a shipment overlap.

Each of these methods does not provide a 100% certain result. So one can Jump in height can also be caused by a postponed shipment. A leap in the measured value of the consignment thickness can be generated by a thick consignment, Barcodes or identification codes may have been printed incorrectly, so that there is no overlap despite the message.

The present invention is therefore based on the object of a method for Determination of shipment overlaps to create security in the Determination of overlaps compared to the known individual solutions increased.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1. Here are uses all information that indicates a shipment overlap. Since the Each method will point out an overlap with certainty to everyone Procedure assigned a previously statistically determined probability.

The respective indication of a shipment overlap is then via the Probability calculation summarized. The result is a value that expresses the probability with which the overlap was correctly recognized. Lies this value is above a predetermined limit, the corresponding shipment treated as a consignment overlap (multiple deduction).

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 2. Here it is shown how a statistical evaluation of a larger number representative test consignments in the substance input of a consignment distribution system were singled out, the probability of a shipment overlap for each individual evidence is determined.

In one embodiment, the invention is explained in more detail.

The following detection methods for consignment overlaps were used for evaluation used:

    1. Measurement of the shipment length µ1
A consignment measured too long compared to the expected lengths can be an overlap (e 1 = 1).
    2. Measure the consignment length µ2 twice
If the difference between the two measurements is greater than a specified value, this is an indication of an overlap (e 1 = 1).
    3. Measurement of the shipment height µ3
Jumps in height in the measured value and their evaluation (jump height, jump courses) of the upper and / or lower edge of the mail item indicate overlaps (e 1 = 1).
    4. Measuring the consignment thickness µ4
A jump in the measured value of the consignment thickness indicates a second consignment edge and thus an overlap (e 1 = 1).

The values for the probabilities P (µ i ) were determined from a statistical survey. Each measurement method for consignment overlap determination was examined for its reliability of knowledge.

Dies ergab für jede Meßmethode den Kennwert P (µi).For this purpose, the number of overlaps of the consignments identified was divided according to the respective measurement method µ i by the number of overlaps that actually occurred, which were verified by means of high-speed recordings of the peeling process. This gave the characteristic value P (µ i ) for each measurement method.

The test deck consisted of a total of 70,000 dead letter mail from the USA and corresponded to the geometric formats and physical properties of the average distribution of the consignments occurring in daily operation. For every The measurement method was used to evaluate 10,000 items.

Die einzelnen Wahrscheinlichkeiten ergaben sich zu:
P(µ₁) 0,12
P (µ₂) 0,78
P (µ₃) 0,82
P (µ₄) 0,35.
The individual probabilities were:
P (µ₁) 0.12
P (µ₂) 0.78
P (µ₃) 0.82
P (µ₄) 0.35.

That means e.g. B. that 78% of all overlaps found by the method µ₂ are really overlaps.

Die Gesamtwahrscheinlichkeit wird nach folgender Beziehung ermittelt:The overall probability is determined according to the following relationship:

P = 1-[(1-P(µ₁)e₁)(1-P(µ₂)e₂)(1-P(µ₃)e₃)(1-P(µ₄)e₄)].P = 1 - [(1-P (µ₁) e₁) (1-P (µ₂) e₂) (1-P (µ₃) e₃) (1-P (µ₄) e₄)].

This results in a consignment overlap identified by all methods (e i = 1, for 1 <i <4) a maximum value of 0.977.

The value of the limit probability Pg is e.g. B. set at 0.4. It means that a shipment that is diverted as an overlap with 40% certainty is really one Was overlap. In the case described, this value is already exceeded when the Events µ₁ and µ₄ occur.

If a higher level of recognition security is required, more evidence must be available. However, this reduces the number of rejected shipments.

Here it makes sense to use cost models to find the optimal limit define, since with a small value for Pg more mail items than overlaps can be recognized, but with a low certainty, and with a high value for Pg fewer shipments can be rejected, but this is higher Security is about overlaps.
