Abstract

The protection system is U-shaped and consists of two small airbags on either side of the car seat headrest. Thus the head is surrounded on three sides and its free movement is effectively prevented, on the airbag activation, for the head and neck spine protection. The protection is especially effective on a lateral impact at any angle.

Description

Zum Sinn der Erfindung:
Verbesserung des Insassenunfallschutzes bei PKW, LKW und ähnlichen Fahrzeugen.
For the purpose of the invention:
Improvement of occupant accident protection in cars, trucks and similar vehicles.

To reduce the consequences of the accident have been in the past Years ago, many systems for protecting vehicle occupants develops, tests and puts into practice. Almost all Systems only offer their protective effect, with one Frontal impact or a rear impact. Against the driving Tool pages are a special focus in the case of a Accident. Due to the small shortness of the distance between vehicle side, occupants and the resulting Protective measures can only be taken on the way difficult to realize. The occupants of the vehicle are therefore almost accidentally in the side of the vehicle protects. The injuries are accordingly.

In order to achieve a further improvement for the protection of the occupants I made the following invention, the system of:
"Small airbags to protect the head and cervical spine".

The invention is based on the following object:
Effectively suppress injuries to the head and cervical spine in the event of an accident in the vehicle side. This object is solved by the features of claims 1 to 4.

In the resting state, the small airbags ( 2 and 3 ) for protecting the head and cervical spine (hereinafter only called small airbag) are housed in the left and right side of the headrest ( 1 ) of a vehicle. According to Fig. 1, the system consists of three parts, a fixed, the headrest ( 1 ) as a base support and the two inflatable parts, the left small airbag ( 2 ) and the right small airbag ( 3 ).

About the function:
In the event of an accident transversely to the vehicle's longitudinal axis, the small airbag is activated with immediate effect, ie inflated. Compare to Fig. 2, Fig. 3 and Fig. 4. Due to the small distance between the vehicle side and the head of the vehicle occupant is needed for an immediate activation of the small air bag.

The protective effect of the small airbags is shown below:
When a vehicle enters the side of another vehicle, i.e. at the beginning of the accident, the small airbag is activated by the triggering device. Both parts of the small airbag are inflated (( 4 ) and ( 5 )). U-shaped with the protective device according to Fig. 2, which is now formed, the head and cervical spine of the passenger can be very effective against the effect of a side impact, or of an obliquely offset accident ge protects be. Because this protective device is characterized in that the head is effectively enclosed on 3 sides. The opening of the U-shaped protective device according to FIG. 2 points in the direction of the vehicle's longitudinal axis. After the accident in the side of the vehicle, the head of the vehicle occupant is moved according to the rules of physics. The first process is the movement against the direction of penetration of the vehicle causing the accident. The persistence of the relatively heavy head leads to a strong bend in the cervical spine, with all its known damage. Due to the increasing acceleration of the vehicle, the vehicle occupants and the ongoing tension in the cervical spine, the direction of movement of the head is reversed after a finite time. The relatively heavy head is now moved in the direction of penetration of the vehicle causing the accident. This means that the cervical spine is now bent sharply in the other direction. That means it is overloaded. Inevitably, the cervical spine must follow all the movements of the moving head. It is first braced in one direction, then braced in the other direction. In the event of an accident, transverse or diagonal to the direction of travel, this free mobility of the head must not be given! By means of an effective protective device according to Fig. 2, Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, it is possible to identify the head and the cervical spine quiet. In practice, this means keeping accident damage away from the vehicle occupants. I invented the small airbag system to protect the head and cervical spine.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 1 to 4.
