Die Neuerung betrifft einen Buchstaben für Werbezwecke mit einem die Buchstabenfläche bildenden Spiegel und einer mit dem Spiegel verbundenen, seitlichen Zarge. Um den Buchstaben sowohl ein gefälliges, ansprechendes Aussehen, als auch eine genügende Festigkeit zu geben, ist es oft erwünscht bzw. notwendig, für die Zarge ein Material von entsprechender Dicke, z.B. eine Kunststoffplatte zu verwenden. Dazu hat man bisher die Zarge aus einzelnen Teilen zusammengesetzt, wobei jeder Teil von einer Kante oder Ecke des Buchstabens.-bis zur nächsten Kante oder Scke reichte. Die Zargenteile wurden dabei auf Gehrung zugeschnitten und miteinander verbunden, z.B. verklebt. Dies ist, insbesondere bei. komplizierteren Buchstaben, und dgl. umständlich und damit.-.entsprechend teuer. Demnach wird mit der Neuerung in erster Linie vorgeschlagen, daß aus den an den Ecken bzw.-Kanten des Buchstabens befindlichen Teilen der Zarge jeweils ein Stück, bevorzugt in Form eines Dreieckes, herausgeschnitten ist, so daß bei tuenden Buchstaben gebogener Zarge die Schnittflächen jedes Ausschnittes in etwa aneinanderliegen. Eine solche Zarge, bzw. ein derartiger Buchstabe ist wesentlich einfacher und schneller als die bekannten Zargen bzw. Buchstaben herzustellen. Damit werden die Lohnkosten herabgesetzt und es wird an Material gespart, da der Verschnitt des Zargenmaterials entsprechend geringer ist. Die genannten Stoßstellen der Zargenteile entfallen. Statt dessen ist die Zarge an den Kanten des Buchstabens einstückig und leicht abgerundet, wodurch der Buchstabe ein sehr gefälliges Aussehen erhält. Dies ist aber gerade für die angestrebte Werbewirkung von wesentlicher Bedeutung. Die Enden der Zarge sind dabei an der Stoßstelle 6 zusammengefügt. Je nachdem, wie die Zarge zu biegen ist, befinden sich die Schnittkanten entweder innen (siehe Ziff. 5¹) oder aber außen (siehe Ziff. 5"). Es versteht sich, daß die Neuerung ebensogut auch bei einer Innenzarge 2' vorgesehen werden kann, wie es in der ZeicLx&ung dargestellt ist.
