Wenn der Gerätträger ohnmächtig wird, oder wenn er das Gerät entgegen den Vorschriften ablegt, wird die intermittierende Luftzufuhr unterbrochen. Dabei ist es auch bekannt, Niederdruckmanometer in der Leitung anzuschließen, die periodisch eine Druckänderung entsprechend der einwandfreien Atmung anzeigen.
