Es ist bekannt, bei der- artigen Schleifmaschinen einen Schwamm im unteren Teil der Ma- schine anzuordnen, durch den einesteils der Schleifschlamm von der Schleifscheibe entfernt wird, während andererseits gleich- zeitig durch diesen Schwamm das Wasser ad die gesamte Ober- fläche der Scheibe verteilt werden soll. Bisher stand ein solcher Schwamm dauernd in Berührung mit der Schleifscheibe, was sich für Stein und Schwamm nachteilig auswirkte. Ausserdem waren die Schwämme meist nur schwierig zu reinigen, da sie nicht bequem ausgebaut werden konnten.
