In einer 28 jährigen Praxis als Wäscheschneider-
meisterin habe ich beim Massnehmen die Wahrnehmung gemacht, dass herren durch due
unpassende Ärmellänge an Konfektionshemden missgestimmt waren. Sie sahen sich gezwungen
durch Ärmelhalter, oder einfaches Umschlagen der Manschette oder des Handbündchens
die richtige, angenehme Länge zu verschaffen. Besonders im Sommer wirkt sich das
Tragen eines Gummiärmelhalters am Oberarm, wo oft
die Bewegungsfreiheit der Muskulatur gehindert wird, unangenehm
aus. Auch eingenähte Stufen in Oberärzel verunschönen das Hemd
u
und machen es beim Tragen ohne Jacke unmöglich. Schnell ändert
sich die Länge beim Wachstum Jugendlicher. Trotzdem lässt sich
nicht jeder Herr Masshemden anfertigen, sondern liebt auch der Billigkeit halber

der
Ärmel durch das Zugband eingeknöpft, kann er nicht zur ursprung-
lichen uänge zurück. Bei gestreiften Hemden ; und wird bei
einfar-
bigen Stoffen das Band mit gleichfarbigem Nähfaden angenäht, fallen die zwei erforderlich
gewordenen Nähte am Ärmel kaum,, 1nus Auge. Die Breite des aufgenähten Bandes möchte
2 cm erreichen,
das Zugband mit eingewebten Knopflöchern muss des leichten
Gleitens halber 2 mm schmäler sein. Das Zugband möchte aus diesem Grunde nicht zu

Der flache Wäscheknopf sitzt fest auf der Armelnaht, da dieselbe
dreifachen Stoff hat. Die Stelle, wo das Einnähen des Bandes
in die Handbundehen-bzw. Manschettennaht äs günatig'aten ist,
ersieht man auf Abb. 2. Ratsam ist erstens das Hemd überzuziehen, zweitens mit der
rechten Hand nach dem linken Zugband zu fassen, die Länge so zu regulieren und das
Bend einzuknöpfen. Drittens dieselbe Hantierung mit der linken Hand vorzunehmen.
Auch kann man sich die Länge des Armels vor dem Anziehen des Hemdes regulieren,
wenn man sich an dem betreffenden Knopfloch ein Zeichen mit Wäschetinte oder Garn
angebracht hat. Vor der
Wäsche wird das Spezialband vom Knopf gelöst. Der Ärmel erhält
