Bei einer bisher bekannten Versandtasche besteht der Adhäsionsscheinverschluß aus zwei Klebstreifen, von denen einer auf der Rückseite der Versandhülle und der zweite Klebstreifen auf der Innenseite der geöffneten Verschlußklappe angebracht ist. Diese beiden Klebstreifen werden beim Verschließen der Versandhülle durch Umlegen der Verschlußklappe zur Dekkung gebracht und aufeinandergepreßt. Für das automatische Füllen und Verschließen der Briefumschläge eignet sich der aus zwei gummierten Streifen bestehende Adhäsionsscheinverschluß schlecht. Bei Verwendung von Kuvertierautomaten wird deshalb an der Verschlußklappe die für normale Briefumschläge übliche Naßgummierung vorgesehen und an einer anderen Seite des Briefumschlages, meistens an der Schmalseite, ein Scheinverschluß angebracht. Dieser besteht vorwiegend aus einer langen eingefalzten Seitenklappe, die die Herstellung der Briefumschläge bzw. der Versandtasche wegen des damit verbundenen erhöhten Material aufwandes verteuert. Diese Scheinverschlußklappe ist nicht verschlossen und bildet eine verhältnismäßig große Öffnung, in die sich fremde Postsendungen verirren können oder aus welcher der Inhalt während des Postversandes herausfallen kann.
