Nesting box.
Die Neuerung betrifft einen Nistkasten, der möglichst einfach und
billig massenweise herstellbar ist und vorzugsweise der Bekämpfung der Spatzenplage
dienen soll, jedoch gleichzeitig auch nützlichen Singvögeln eine Brutstätte bieten
kann (auch Fledermäusen). Gemaß der Neuerung ist der Kasten schalenförmig ausgebildet
und hinten und oben offen und durch Gießen, Formen oder Pressen aus einem leicht
bildsamen Werkstoff, z. B. aus Lehm oder Zement heergestellt. Zweckmässig besitzt
der Kastern, um eine einfache Herstellung zu ermöglichen, etwa die Form eines Viertels
einer Hohlkugel. Diese Formgebung und Ausbildung sowie die Art der Herstellung erlauben
es, den zistkasten als Massenartikel zu fabrizieren, sodass sein Gestehungspreis
ausserordentlich niedrig wird. Während der Kasten üblicherweise so befestigt wird,
dass eine Mauer die Rückwand und ein vorspringender Dachfirst den Abschluss nach
oben bil-, den, kann bei Bedarf auch ein verzugsweise aus dem gleichen Werkstoff
bestehender Deckel vorgesehen sein, der mit einem abgesetzten, überstehenden Rand
auf der Oberkante des Kastens aufliegt. In diesem Fall kann der Kasten in beliebiger
Höhe an einer Mauer befestigt werden. Mit dem neuen Nistkasten kann die Spatzenplage
bekämpft werden, indem entweder die mit dem Nistgeschäft beschäftigten Spatzen abgefangen
werden, oder das Gelege durch Entleeren des Inhalts vernichtet wird. Zum-Abfangen
der Spatzen kann Einschlüpföffnung des Nistksstchens mit einer Klappe z. B. aus
demselben Werkstoff oder Blech verschliessbar sein, die z. B. durch eine Schnur
von Hand vom Erd-
boden aus betitigt wird.
Um eine unberufene Betätigung der Fangvorrichtung z. B. durch Kinder kontrollieren
zu können, kann Klappe in ihrer offenen Lage durch einen dünnen Kupferdrahtstift
oder dergleichen
gestützt werden, der durch Zuziehen der Klappe
umgebogen wird, während die Einschlupföf@nung durch das Eigene-
wicht der Klappe geschlossen gehalten wird.

In der Zeichnung ist ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Neuerung dargestellt, bei dem eine
Verschlussklappe für-die Einschlüpföffnung vorgesehen ist. Abb. 1 zeigt einen Nistkasten
gemäss der Neuerung in einer Vorderansicht und Abb. 2 denselben Kasten in einer
Seitenansicht. In Abb. 3 ist ein Deckel für den Nistkasten in einem. s. eitlichen

Das hinten und oben offene, schalenförmige, Gehäuse 1 des 'Nistkastens
eist unten einen Ansatz 2 mit einer Befestigungsöffnung 3 und oben zu beiden Seiten
ebenfalls Öffnungen 4 auf, durch die Drahtschlaufen 5 zum Aufhängen des Kastens
hindurchgezogen sind. Der die Einschlüpföffnung 6 enthaltende Teil des Kastens ist
eben ausgebildet. Auf ihm ist die Verschlussklappe 7 derart gelagert, dass sie mit
Hilfe einer Schnur 8, die an dem Arm 9 der Klappe 7 befestigt'ist, offen gehalten
wird, in-
dem die Schnur 8 in der N' ; he des Erdbodens festgelegt wird.

Nach Lösen der Schnur 8 fällt die Klappe 7 durch ihr Eigengewicht herunter und verschließt
die Einschlüpföffnung 6. An dem Kasten kann auch noch eine Sitzstange 10 vorgesehen
sein. Der Deckel 11 ist so ausgebildet, dass er mit einem abgesetzten, überstehenden
