Bei den bekannten Ausführungsformen läuft der Reißverschluß seitlich vom oberen Gamaschenrand bis zum unteren durch, so daß'sich die Gamasche vollständig öffnen läßt. Beim Anziehen werden solche Gamschen zunächst um das Bein gelegt, dann fängt man die Reißverschlußhälften, unten mit dem Schieber ein und zieht darauf diesen hoch. Das Einfangen der Reißverschlußhälften ist nun in der dazu erforderlichen gebückten Haltung etwas umständlich und will nicht immer gleich gelingen, zumal hier im Gegensatz zu den Knopfverbindungen gleichzeitig drei Teile, die beiden Verschlußhälften und der Schieber, passrecht miteinander zu vereinigen sind. und die unteren Reißverschlußenden unter der Verschmutzung, der sie'ausgesetz sind, regelmäßig auch etwas leiden.
