Die Erfindung besteht in einer neuen Methode, die gufseisernen Muffenröhren für Gas-
und Wasserleitungen etc. zu verdichten.The invention consists in a new method, the cast iron socket pipes for gas

Fig. i, 2 und 3 auf beiliegender Zeichnung stellen die drei Hauptformen der neuen Verbindung
dar. E ist der Muff, M das männliche Rohrende, B der Dichtungsring, aus Filz,
Kautschuk oder anderem Stoff bestehend, P kalt oder warm eingebrachte Bleidichtung.Fig. 1, 2 and 3 in the accompanying drawing show the three main forms of the new connection. Der Dichtungsring B liegt entweder, wie in Fig ι, auf dem Grunde der Muffe oder sitzt in

2. Die Form der Muffe und des
männlichen Rohrendes mufs eine dieser Voraussetzung entsprechende sein. Der Raum
zwischen der Muffe und dem männlichen Rohrende, in welchem der Ring P Platz nimmt,
ist entweder so gebildet, dafs der äufsere Umfang nach unten konisch erweitert ist, während
der innere Umfang cylindrisch ist, wie in Fig. 1, oder aber derselbe ist doppelt konisch, wie in
Fig. 2 und 3, d. h. sowohl die Muffe als auch das männliche Rohrende besitzt nach zwei Seiten
konisch geformte Vertiefungen. Das Loch kann auch vollständig cylindrisch sein, oder es
kann auch nur konisch auf seinem unteren Theile sein, während sein vorderer Theil cylindrisch
ist; auch kann es mit Nuthen versehen sein, wie in Fig. 1; dieselben haben den Zweck,
die Berührungsfläche des Dichtungsmaterials, welches man hineinbringt, zu mehren und den
Widerstand gegen das Auseinanderziehen zu vergröfsern. Dafs bei dieser Muffenverbindung
das Blei oder sonstige entsprechende Dichtungsmaterial in warmem Zustande eingegossen oder
in kaltem Zustande in Form eines Ringes, Streifens oder Bandes in die Muffe gebracht und
nachher festgestemmt werden kann, ist selbstverständlich, ebenso, dafs man in letzterem
Falle den Dichtungsring aus Hanf, Filz oder Kautschuk etc. ganz weglassen kann.2. The shape of the socket and the male pipe end must meet this requirement.
