Description
B. Argon. ίοThe so-called protective tube or protective gas contacts consist of magnetizable contact springs, ijie in a glass tube that is fused at its ends are housed. In order to protect the contacts, such a glass tube can, as is well known, be Protective gas, such as B. a mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen, filling, causing corrosion of the Contacts is prevented. A filling with an inert gas, e.g. B. Argon. ίο
Β,εί derartigen Kontakten handelt es sich also im Prinzip um Kontaktanqrdnungen, die in einem herjaefisch abgeschlossenen Raum untergebracht sind, der mit einem Schutz- oder Edelgas gefüllt ist.Β, εί such contacts are in the Principle of contact arrangements, which in a herjaefisch enclosed space are housed, which is filled with a protective or noble gas.
It has already been used with thermostat switches that are housed in a gas-tight container are provided, a gas filling which enables heat transfer. As a particularly suitable one Gas, in particular, hydrogen has been proposed. With these switches the aim was to have one at Suppression occurring gas discharge in the case of to avoid opening the contact point as far as possible, because this results in undesired heating of the contact point on the one hand and cracks on the other the contact point by transporting electrical thread material causes. On the other hand, a glow discharge has a significant advantage, when it comes to switching off an inductive load. In this case, the Switching off the inductive load will form a glow discharge, which automatically reduces the induced voltages limited to the ignition voltage of the glow discharge. Without the limiting effect, the voltage take on significantly higher values at the opened contact point, which is detrimental to the I $ olation of the inductive load. So under certain conditions it is quite desirable to accommodate the contact point of a switch in an atmosphere under negative pressure.
This is achieved according to the invention by filling with a pressure that is so low compared to atmospheric pressure, that a glow discharge which forms in the event of a contact actuation with its cathode cover extends over an area which is substantially larger than the contact area belonging to the contact point is, so that the cathode sputtering caused by the glow discharge for the most part Contact arrangement in a hermetically sealed space under degraded

Die Erfindung beruht auf folgenden Erkenntnissen:The invention is based on the following findings:
An open contact is provided that it is in a gas atmosphere under negative pressure is comparable to a gas discharge tube. As a result, it ignites during the opening process a glow discharge between its electrodes if one above the ignition voltage lying tension arises. This is the case inbespndere when using such contacts an inductive load, e.g. a relay, is switched off. In such a case it causes the spontaneous Current interruption the induction, a voltage spike, which occurs directly at the contact gap and thus ignites the glow discharge.
The result is sputtering of the contact part forming the cathode, the so-called cathode sputtering. This manifests itself in a destruction of the surface piece in question and a material migration, which have an extremely unfavorable effect on the properties of the contact point.
The cathode cover and thus the destruction zone of the glow discharge are now in their expansion depending on the pressure in the discharge vessel. As is well known, they stretch with falling pressure over a larger area. This The effect is now in a very specific manner in the case of the contact applications described above applied, foolishly, that it was caused by a glow discharge caused inevitable catho
