Die Erfindung betrifft Silberlegierungen, die sich zur Herstellung von Regelstäben für Neutronenreaktoren eignen und überlegene Festigkeitseigenschaften aufweisen.The invention relates to silver alloys that are Suitable for the production of control rods for neutron reactors and superior strength properties exhibit.

Sie besteht aus 2 bis 20 Gewichtsprozent Indium, gegebenenfalls bis 10% Cadmium und Rest nicht über 85 Gewichtsprozent Silber. Die Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßenLegierungen kann nach irgendeiner der üblichen Methoden erfolgen. Die Legierung kann leicht hergestellt werden, indem man die gewünschten Bestandteile in einen Graphittiegel eingibt. Die Bestandteile können dann mittels einer Induktionsheizeinrichtung oder auf irgendeinem anderen geeigneten Wege geschmolzen werden. Zur Verhinderung einer Oxydation der geschmolzenen Legierung wird auf die Oberfläche der Schmelze eine Schutzdeckschicht aus kalzinierten Kokspellets aufgebracht.
