Description
DEUTSCHESGERMAN
The thermal copying process is known to be so carried out that one has a carrier material on which there is a layer that is when exposed to Heat discolored, in contact with a template, exposed to a source of thermal radiation, and then through the different absorption or reflection ratios of the heat rays on the image-bearing and Image-free areas of the original and the various heat areas that are caused there by copies arise that correspond to the template.
To carry out the thermal copying process, materials have already been produced which consist of a transparent carrier material α, a heat-sensitive layer b located on it and an opaque, pigment-containing layer c located on the heat-sensitive layer b (see Fig. 1, in which also the template V is shown and the arrow indicates the direction in which the heat rays act).
To make copies, the opaque layer is placed on an original and exposed to an infrared source from the substrate side. Copies of the original are obtained in this way, through the carrier material can be read the wrong way round.
Abb. 2).Heat copying material has also already been proposed which consists of a transparent carrier material α, a heat copying layer b located thereon and a transparent cover layer d on the heat copying layer b (see FIG. 2).
There was now a thermal copying material, consisting of a transparent carrier material, a Thermal copying layer and an opaque layer, found that it is characterized in that the Carrier material on the one hand the opaque, pigment-containing layer and on the other hand the Thermal copying layer, which is optionally also provided with a transparent layer, carries.
Transparent layer supports can be used as the support material for the present copy material Paper or other cellulosic! Material, such as cellulose hydrate films or cellulose esters, such as cellulose acetate, Cellulose butyrate, or plastics such as polyamide or polyethylene glycol terephthalic acid ester, Polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, in question.
The opaque layers used are those which, in addition to a carrier material such as acetyl cellulose, Ethyl cellulose, polyacrylic or methacrylic acid esters, polyamides, polystyrene or other polymers or copolymers, rubber or post-treated

Zinkoxyd, Zinkcarbonat, Titandioxyd, Magnesiumcarbonat, Magnesiumoxyd, Kreide, Kaolin, deltem rubber, natural resins or artificial resins, organic or inorganic pigments included, e.g. B. zinc oxide, zinc carbonate, titanium dioxide, magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide, chalk, kaolin,
so Kieselsäure, Zinkstearat, Bleistearat, Calciumacrylat, Bleiphthalat, Salze anderer Carbon- oder Sulfonsäuren, in dem benutzten Lösungsmittel unlösliche oder zwar darin lösliche, sich aber beim Trocknen der Schicht wieder ausscheidende organische Verbindüngen. so silica, zinc stearate, lead stearate, calcium acrylate, Lead phthalate, salts of other carboxylic or sulphonic acids, insoluble in the solvent used or organic compounds that are soluble in it, but are separated out again when the layer dries.
With the already known application of an opaque, pigment-containing layer on the heat-sensitive Layer is one with regard to the solvent and the natural or used as a binder artificial resin is subject to some restrictions, as this is the first layer applied may no longer dissolve or react with it in order to prevent premature discoloration of the copy material to obtain.
The production of the thermal copying material according to the present invention has the advantage over the known process that the same material and the same solvent can be used as the binder for the opaque layer as for the heat-sensitive layer. At the same time, the tendency to curl is reduced, which very often occurs with one-sided coating of hydrophilic carrier material with the fluctuations in humidity in the air.
The copying material according to the invention is placed on the original in such a way that the pigment-containing layer is in contact with the original. Since the heat generated in the dark areas of the original by the absorption of infrared rays in the contact path now has to be given off through two layers to the heat-sensitive layer, it was not foreseeable that the images of the original would still be just as sharp and clear in this way would be like with the previous process with only one intermediate layer.
