In patent 1138,371 there are aqueous suspensions for treating natural or synthetic fibers, yarns, fabrics, knitted fabrics or textile goods. These suspensions contain aluminum oxide, which by reacting a volatile compound of aluminum in the gas phase at elevated temperature with an oxidizing and / or hydrolysing gas or gas mixture is contained. The suspensions are characterized in that they contain tetra (methoxyethyl) orthosilicic acid ester.
It is preferred to use suspensions which are based on 100 parts by weight of aluminum oxide Contain 25 to 75 parts by weight of the silicic acid ester. The suspensions can also be used in addition Contain formaldehyde, preferably 10 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of aluminum oxide Formaldehyde. The suspensions can also contain an alkali metal carbonate as a further component or hydrogen carbonate, preferably to 100 parts by weight of aluminum oxide 1 to 5 parts by weight of alkali carbonate or hydrogen carbonate. Finally, you can still use the in add the usual additives for textile finishing. To improve the stability, such Suspensions are best adjusted to a pH of 3 to 6.
In the further development of the invention it was found that the properties of those described above Suspensions can be improved if they contain a polyethyleneimine. This addition prevents the thixotropic and improves the shelf life. The addition of polyethyleneimine enables it is to produce concentrated suspensions, which is technically and economically important. Such concentrates can be diluted with the desired amount of water just before use.
The amount of polyethyleneimine can vary within wide limits. Used to advantage to 100 parts of aluminum oxide 5 to 30 parts of polyethyleneimine.
wäßrige Suspensionen von AluminiumoxydTo prepare the suspensions it is expedient to proceed in such a way that the aluminum oxide is stirred into an aqueous solution of the monomeric or polymeric orthosilicic acid tetra (methoxyethyl) ester, the desired pH is set, an aqueous solution also set to the desired pH value of polyethyleneimine and stirs intensively during or after mixing. Any further constituents of the suspension can be added in a manner known per se, where appropriate for the treatment of textiles

Of course, it is also important to maintain the pH value.
Suspensions according to the invention give when combined with oils, fatty acids and similar products no reaction products with a hydrophobic effect. You can therefore use them in a bathroom together with others for treatment and equipment Use textile auxiliaries and other additives commonly used by textiles.
Anschließend wird unter Kühlung noch 30 Minuten mittels eines schnellaufenden Dispergators dispergiert.100 g of aluminum oxide, produced by reacting aluminum chloride at 600 to 1200 ° C with hydrogen and air and subsequent deposition as an arogel, are distilled into a solution of 50 g of tetra orthosilicic acid (/ 3-methoxyethyl) ester in 750 cm 3 with slow stirring Water entered. The mixture is then stirred for a short time and heated to 50.degree. At this temperature, 30 cm 3 of 5% NaHCO 3 solution are slowly added up to a pH of 5 to 5.5. The viscosity increases sharply towards the end. It is now acidified with 12 cm 3 of glacial acetic acid to pH 3 to 3.5 and dispersed with cooling. At 30 ° C., 100 cm 3 of a 10% aqueous polyethyleneimine solution acidified to pH 3.5 with glacial acetic acid are added. The mixture is then dispersed for a further 30 minutes with cooling using a high-speed disperser.
