Die Erfindung betrifft eine elastische Dichtung insbesondere für Leuchten und Scheinwerfer bei Kraftfahrzeugen, deren Rand den Grundriß der Leuchte bzw. des Scheinwerfers überragt und die dazu dient, den Rand der Leuchte oder des Scheinwerfers gegen eindringende Feuchtigkeit abzudichten. Diese Dichtungen werden als Ringe oder Dichtplatten zumeist aus Gummi oder gummiähnlichen Kunststoffen hergestellt und weisen einen profilierten Rand auf, der sich gegen den Fuß der Leuchte oder des Scheinwerfers anlegt. Der Werkstoff Gummi neigt bekanntlich dazu, bei starker Beanspruchung durch Witterungseinflüsse schnell zu altern. Hierbei läßt die Spannkraft nach, und es bilden sich insbesondere an den der Witterung ausgesetzten Stellen Haarrisse, durch welche die Dichtungen allmählich zerstört werden. Diese müssen daher in verhältnismäßig kurzen Abständen erneuert werden, wenn ihre Dichtfähigkeit erhalten bleiben soll.
