Abstract

A seagoing vessel, particularly a passenger vessel, comprises a hull that has at least one overhang that is located above water. This overhang causes the length of the vessel to exceed beyond a measure permitted by length limitations posed by pilotage waters. In order to preserve the useful load carrying capacity of the seagoing vessel, the portion of the overhang of the stem that constitutes the exceeding beyond the permitted measure is provided in the form of at least one structural unit that, when required, can be reversibly manipulated by a measure such as folding it away, removing it or the like.
