An optoelectronic projectile fuse camouflage cloud or smoke discrimination procedure has a sensor (12) with measurement unit (14) determining the distance of reflected pulses and comparing (20, 30) them with a CFAR threshold to recognize the false target when the reflected pulse width is less than the transmitted pulse width. Independent claims are included for equipment using the procedure.
