Abstract
Process for coating a Cu or Cu alloy chill mold body (1) in an extrusion process where the chill mold is coated at least partially with an inner Cr coating, where a cermet wear resistant layer is applied to the Cr coating by thermal spraying, and has a layer hardness differing by a factor of 0.6-2 from that of the inner layer. An independent claim is included for a Cu or Cu alloy chill mold of an extrusion unit as described above.
