Abstract

The device for increasing the range of cruise missiles comprises a carrier platform with fuel tanks and cruise missiles suspended from the platform. After initial release of the cruise missiles from the platform they remain connected to it by an umbilical cord via which they receive fuel from the onboard fuel tank, while flying using their own drive mechanism, rudder machine and navigation system. At a final separation point the missiles are released from the carrier platform and can continue on to their target with their own fuel tanks still full. An independent claim is also included for a corresponding method for controlling the cruise missiles while it is still connected to the carrier platform via the umbilical cord.
