Das Gerät enthält eine Elektronik, mittels welcher zum einen das Sensorsignal auswertbar ist. Ferner steht das Gerät über die genannte Elektronik mit einem Ortungssystem drahtlos in Verbindung. In bevorzugter Weise handelt es sich hierbei um ein satellitengestütztes Ortungssystem, wie insbesondere GPS (global positioning system). Mittels des Ortungssystems kann jederzeit der genaue Standort der Person festgestellt werden. Ferner ist das Gerät bzw. dessen Elektronik derart ausgebildet, dass bei Eintritt eines Notfalls selbsttätig über Funk, wie bei Mobiltelefonen, Kontakt mit einer Rettungsstelle hergestellt werden kann, welcher der mittels des Ortungssystems erfasste Standort der Person übermittelt wird. Somit wird in Abhängigkeit des Gesundheitszustandes der Person, aufgrund des mittels des Sensors erfassten Signals ohne Zutun der Person selbständig der genaue Standort der Person an die Rettungsstelle übermittelt. Darüber hinaus kann in einer besonderen Ausgestaltung der Erfindung die Rettungsstellung über Funk Kontakt mit dem Gerät aufnehmen und mittels des Geräts die kranke Person orten, um beispielsweise einen Rettungswagen zur Person zu leiten.
