Abstract

The invention relates to a packaging unit (1) for a device (2), preferably for a household appliance (2), with a first outer part (13) and with a second outer part (14), which are designed to completely enclose the device (2) to be packaged on the outside, preferably in a cuboid shape, wherein the two outer parts (13, 14) can be connected to and separated from one another along the longitudinal axis (X).

Description

The invention relates to a packaging unit for a device, preferably for a household appliance.

It is common practice and well-known to enclose and protect goods or products for transport using packaging. Packaging is generally the outer cover or the partial or complete covering of an object or an entire object, particularly for its protection or for better handling. Such packaging is also used for transporting household appliances such as SDA devices (Small Domestic Appliances).

Currently, folding boxes that are standard in the industry, for example according to FEFCO 0201, are used here. FEFCO 0201 stands for a standard folding box with outer flaps that meet in the middle. These folding boxes consist of a blank with a factory edge connected by gluing the flaps, as well as lid and base flaps with which the folding box is closed with the help of adhesive tape. Cardboard is usually used as the material, which can be disposed of relatively easily by the user in the waste paper and recycled in a resource-saving manner.

Also known are folding covers that consist of a single cut and in which all the side walls and the lid are hinged to the base. This type of design is provided with locking devices (e.g. tuck-in tabs) and handles.

The EP 3 792 195 A1 describes a packaging for an object. The packaging comprises a sealable outer box and at least one cushioning part for insertion into the interior of the outer box. The cushioning part comprises shaped buffer parts on its periphery for supporting the cushioning part on the inside of the side walls of the outer box in a way that prevents it from sliding. The cushioning part also comprises a recess for precisely fitting the object to be packaged. Finally, the packaging according to the invention comprises a support insert which, together with the cushioning part, spans a packaging space for the object to be packaged within the outer box, wherein the support insert extends at a distance from the side walls of the outer box and forms at least part of a side wall of the packaging space.

In any case, the product or device must be laboriously lifted up from the outer box by the buyer or user. This can be awkward and uncomfortable for the person, especially with relatively heavy devices or products. In any case, the various packaging materials usually have to be removed from the device or product. This packaging material can also fall towards the person, which can be particularly annoying. Unpacking has therefore been laborious up to now.

The disadvantage of such packaging designs is that they do not offer the user or customer a positive unpacking experience, since the product can only be removed from the packaging carton or folding box with difficulty or with the help of third parties.

Another disadvantage is that the packaging designs currently in use are the same or comparable for all product manufacturers. A distinction or differentiation between different product manufacturers, for example of household appliances, is therefore not yet possible due to the packaging design used for the products.

It should be noted that brand design is becoming increasingly important for packaging and should offer the customer an unboxing experience and an appealing product presentation. More and more unboxing videos are being uploaded to the Internet. This is common practice for smaller electronic devices, such as smartphones and headphones. The unboxing experience in the form of a good product presentation is therefore becoming increasingly important for the customer. The product or device should be in the foreground and present itself to the customer in the most positive way possible. However, a good product presentation has not usually been provided for the reasons mentioned above.

In order to fix and further protect the product, such as the household appliance, within the folding box or carton, the use of packaging parts made of expanded polystyrene (EPS), also known as Styrofoam, in foamed form is known.

The disadvantage here is that these packaging parts have to be disposed of and recycled at a relatively high cost compared to folding boxes, and therefore have a bad image among users of not being resource-efficient and therefore not sustainable. Overall, for sustainability reasons, plastics should be minimized or even avoided as packaging materials. This includes, for example, EPS (Styrofoam) but also films or film bags.

Alternatively, for example, fibre moulded parts or fibre cast parts made from mostly recycled paper fibres or foil bags made from recycled material is known which can be used instead of EPS in such packaging.

These days, such devices are usually packed in various packaging materials that ensure product protection. The interior of the packaging usually consists of EPS or fiber-based molded or molded fiber parts. In addition, the device is packed in a one-piece outer box, which is traditionally opened on the top and sealed with adhesive tape. The outer box takes on some of the statics, but is primarily used for marketing and printing.

The invention therefore addresses the problem of providing a packaging unit for a device or for a product, and in particular for a household appliance, so that the person as buyer or user can unpack the device or product relatively easily and safely. In particular, dropping or other damage to the device or product when unpacking should be prevented. This should preferably be possible with a comparable stability and security of the packaging unit as previously known. Preferably, the packaging unit should be perceived by the person as high-quality and suitable for the device or product. In any case, it should preferably be possible to do without plastic materials. In any case, it should preferably be possible to use recycled materials. In particular, the product presentation or the experience of unpacking the device or product should be improved. At the very least, an alternative to the known packaging units for devices or products should be created.

According to the invention, this problem is solved by a packaging unit having the features of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention emerge from the following dependent claims.

Thus, the invention relates to a packaging unit for a device, preferably for a household appliance, with a first outer part and with a second outer part, which are designed to completely enclose the device to be packaged on the outside, preferably in a cuboid shape, wherein the two outer parts can be connected to and separated from one another along the longitudinal axis.

This means that the device can be completely enclosed by the two-part packaging unit on the outside. This can be the case in particular in a cuboid shape, which can particularly facilitate safe stacking of the packaging units during transport and storage. This can also provide the largest possible interior space.

Since the two outer parts of the packaging unit are movable relative to each other along the longitudinal axis and can be connected and separated from each other along the longitudinal axis, the person as purchaser or user of the packaged device can place the packaging unit horizontally on a surface and then pull the two outer parts away from each other or one outer part away from the other outer part in order to release the packaged device. Both outer parts can then be completely removed by the person one after the other.

This can enable safe unpacking, as the device does not have to be lifted off the ground and therefore cannot fall down. Unpacking can also be comparatively easy, comfortable and/or quick for the person in this way, as the device does not have to be lifted when unpacking.

This also applies to the packing of the device by the manufacturer or its employees.

This type of unpacking can also provide the user with a certain experience because the device becomes relatively directly visible when the two outer parts of the packaging unit are pulled apart.

According to one aspect of the invention, the first outer part is designed to be overlapped by an edge of the second outer part along the longitudinal axis, preferably completely, or vice versa. This can enable a transition from the outer outer part to the inner outer part exactly at the edge or edges, which can create a more pleasant impression for the person on the outside.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the first outer part has at least one tab receptacle on at least one edge, preferably on several edges, and the second outer part has at least one tab on at least one edge, preferably on several edges, which is designed to engage in the corresponding tab receptacle of the first outer part and to connect the two outer parts to one another in a form-fitting manner along the longitudinal axis, or vice versa.

This can be a particularly simple, cost-effective and/or intuitive for the person to use. represent a practical way of connecting the two outer parts together. This can also enable repeated and thus non-destructive closing and opening or separating of the positive connection. If necessary, the closed tabs can be secured or sealed with a sticker or similar.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the second outer part has a separating element, preferably a tear strip, which is designed to be actuated, preferably pulled, by the user in order to separate the section of the second outer part with the tab from the rest of the second outer part.

This means that the second outer part can optionally be destructively split in two as an external part in order to unpack the device. This can be done in addition to or as an alternative to the tab connection described above. This can further improve the effect of unpacking for the person and make unpacking quicker and easier.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the first outer part has at least one carrying handle, preferably as a carrying handle recess, and/or the second outer part has at least one carrying handle, preferably as a carrying handle recess. For this purpose, the corresponding sections of the surfaces of the outer parts can be pressed in by the person and folded inwards. In any case, this can make it easier for the person to carry the packaging unit.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the first outer part and the second outer part are designed as a corrugated cardboard part. This can enable the implementation of the corresponding properties and advantages in the packaging unit according to the invention.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the first outer part has at least one flap to allow the user to access the interior of the two interconnected outer parts through the opened flap, and/or the second outer part has at least one flap to allow the user to access the interior of the two interconnected outer parts through the opened flap.

Thus, for example, an instruction manual, accessories and the like of the device can be arranged as additional elements inside the connected outer parts in order to be transported together. These additional elements can be placed there with the outer parts separated during packaging at the factory so that the flap does not have to be used for this purpose. Accordingly, the flap can be unused at the factory and, for example, connected or formed as one piece, i.e. integral with the rest of the outer part, but preferably perforated, easily separable or detachable. In any case, the person can then access the additional elements through the open flap without having to open or separate the packaging unit itself.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the packaging unit further comprises a base part which is designed to receive the device from above along the vertical axis, wherein the base part extends horizontally over its entire surface within the two outer parts when the two outer parts are connected to one another.

This can provide additional protection for the packaged device. The device and base can also be arranged more easily within the two outer parts.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the base part has an edge that projects upwards along the vertical axis and is designed to hold the received device in a form-fitting manner in the horizontal. This can improve the lateral hold of the device within the connected outer parts in a simple manner.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the first outer part has a holding element, preferably a foldable surface section, which is designed to be folded inwards and downwards along the vertical axis by the person and to hold the base part in a form-fitting manner.

This can enable a connection between the first outer part and the base part, so that when the two outer parts are pulled apart, the second outer part separates from the first outer part and the base part. The base part is held to the first outer part by the holding element. This can further improve the result of unpacking or define its process more precisely.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the holding element of the first outer part is a foldable surface portion of the first outer part, wherein the recess of the folded surface portion of the first outer part forms the carrying handle of the first outer part as a carrying handle recess.

Thus, the holding element of the first outer part can be designed as a foldable surface section of the first outer part fulfil two functions at once, by creating the previously described positive connection between the base part and the first outer part and, at the same time, by creating the carrying handle recess of the first outer part as previously described.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the second outer part has a foldable surface portion which is designed to be folded inwards and downwards along the vertical axis by the person without holding the base part in a form-fitting manner, wherein the recess of the folded surface portion of the second outer part forms the carrying handle of the second outer part as a carrying handle recess.

This also makes it possible to create a handle recess on the second outer part as described above, but without holding the base part in a form-fitting manner, which would prevent the two outer parts from being pulled apart.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the packaging unit has a side part which is designed to be arranged along the longitudinal axis laterally to the device in the first outer part or in the second outer part. This can enable the device to be supported in this direction in order to improve the lateral support of the device along the longitudinal axis within the connected outer parts. This can also enable the device to be protected in this direction.

Preferably, the side part can be designed to encompass the received device above and/or to the side at least in sections, which can improve the protection and hold of the device within the packaging unit. The side part can also be held on the device in this way.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the side part is further designed to be arranged along the vertical axis on the base part. For this purpose, the side part can be held in the base part in a form-fitting manner. In any case, this can enable or improve the hold of the side part during packaging.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the side part is further designed to accommodate at least one additional element of the device in such a way that the user can reach the additional element through the opened flap. This can enable a further development of the corresponding feature already described above in such a way that the additional element can be positioned in a defined manner and thus be easier to reach.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the packaging unit further comprises an upper part which is designed to be arranged on the device from above along the vertical axis, preferably opposite a side part along the longitudinal axis. For this purpose, the upper part can be held in a form-fitting manner by the device. In any case, this can enable further protection and/or further support at this point within the connected outer parts.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the base part, the side part and/or the top part is/are designed as a fiber molded part. This can enable the implementation of the corresponding properties and advantages in the packaging unit according to the invention. Alternatively, the use of molded parts made of EPS would also be possible.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the device to be packaged is a coffee machine. This can enable the use of the properties and advantages described above, especially with such a device, which can thus be unpacked more easily, more quickly and/or more safely than previously known. Also, especially with a coffee machine, the unpacking experience can be particularly improved as described above, or can be perceived and appreciated by a person.

The above figures are viewed in Cartesian coordinates. There is a longitudinal axis X, which can also be referred to as depth X or length X. Perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X there is a transverse axis Y, which can also be referred to as width Y. The packaging unit 1 according to the invention according to the first embodiment has a base part 10 or a lower part 10, cf. 2 , onto which the device 2 to be packaged is placed from above along the vertical axis Z, cf. 7 The device 2 is held in a form-fitting manner in the horizontal X, Y, ie laterally, by an edge projecting upwards along the vertical axis Z.

On the side of the second, front outer part 14, a surface section is now folded inwards along the longitudinal axis X and downwards along the vertical axis Z, but without reaching behind the base part 10 and holding it in a form-fitting manner. In this way, a carrying handle 14a in the form of a carrying handle recess 14 can also be created on the side of the second, front outer part 14, cf. 10 , which is along the longitudinal axis X of the handle recess 13 of the first th, rear outer part 13 is arranged directly or diametrically opposite.

In order to connect the two outer parts 13, 14 to one another in a non-destructively separable manner, the first, rear outer part 13 has a tab receptacle 13b on each of its two side edges and on the upper edge, cf. 5 . The second, front outer part 14 has a correspondingly arranged and formed tab 14b on each of its two side edges and on the upper edge, cf. 6 . The tabs 14b of the second, front outer part 14 are bent outwards when the two outer parts 13, 14 are not connected, cf. 11 , and engage in the connected state of the two outer parts 13, 14 vertically into the tab receptacles 13b of the first, rear outer part 13, cf. 12 .

To open or unpack the coffee machine 2 as an example device 2, the person as buyer or user can now bend the three tabs 14b of the second, front outer part 14 outwards again, cf. 11 , and then pull the two outer parts 13, 14 apart along the longitudinal axis X. For this purpose, the person can pull the carrying handle 13a, 14a for each outer part 13, 14 in the form of the carrying handle recess 13a, 14a, see also 11 , which together can also be used by the person carrying the packaged device 2 or the packaging unit 1 with both hands.

When the two outer parts 13, 14 are pulled apart, the first, rear outer part 13 and the base part 10 are held together by the folded-over surface section of the first, rear outer part 13, so that only the second, front outer part 14 moves relative to the first, rear outer part 13 including the base part 10. Accordingly, the front area of the coffee stand device 2 is released directly and almost suddenly by the first, front outer part 14, while the coffee stand device 2 remains placed on the base part 10. The rear area of the coffee stand device 2 remains covered by the first, rear outer part 13, cf. 10 .

This type of unpacking of the coffee machine 2 can improve the unpacking experience for the person, as the packaged machine 2 can be presented directly, cf. 10 . Unpacking can also be done horizontally X, Y, which can save the person from having to remove the device 2 from an outer box. This can be easier, faster and safer. Further unpacking can be done in the reverse order of the packaging steps described above, see. 7 to 9 .

Even before the two outer parts 13, 14 are separated, the person can access the interior of the packaging unit 1 through an openable flap 13c as a section of the outside of the first, rear outer part 13 in order to be able to grasp and remove, for example, an operating manual arranged inside the side part 11 or the rear part 11 as an additional element of the device 2.

13 shows a perspective view of the device 2 packaged by means of a packaging unit 1 according to the invention according to a second embodiment.

In this case, a separating element 14c in the form of a tear strip 14c is additionally provided in the material of the second, front outer part 14 approximately where the first, rear outer part 13 ends in the connected state of the two outer parts 13, 14 along the longitudinal axis X within the second, front outer part 14.

If the tear strip 14c is pulled completely by the person, the second, front outer part 14c is split in two, so that the section of the second, front outer part 14 with the tabs 14b remains connected to the first, rear outer part 13 and the remaining section of the second, front outer part 14 can be pulled away by the person directly along the longitudinal axis X from the first, rear outer part 13 including the base part 10 in order to release or unpack the device 2. This can further speed up and facilitate unpacking and improve the unpacking experience.

Claims (18)

Packaging unit (1) for a device (2), preferably for a household appliance (2), with a first outer part (13) and with a second outer part (14), which are designed to completely enclose the device (2) to be packaged on the outside, preferably in a cuboid shape, wherein the two outer parts (13, 14) can be connected to and separated from one another along the longitudinal axis (X). Packaging unit (1) according to claim 1 , wherein the first outer part (13) is designed to be overlapped by an edge of the second outer part (14) along the longitudinal axis (X), preferably completely, or vice versa. Packaging unit (1) according to claim 1 and 2 , wherein the first outer part (13) has at least one tab receptacle (13b) on at least one edge, preferably on several edges, and wherein the second outer part (14) has at least one tab (14b) on at least one edge, preferably on several edges, which is designed to engage in the corresponding tab receptacle (13b) of the first outer part (13) and to connect the two outer parts (13, 14) to one another in a form-fitting manner along the longitudinal axis (X), or vice versa. Packaging unit (1) according to claim 5 and after one of the Claims 8 until 11 , wherein the second outer part (14) has a foldable surface portion which is designed to be folded inwards and downwards along the vertical axis (Z) by the person without holding the base part (10) in a form-fitting manner, wherein the recess of the folded surface portion of the second outer part (14) forms the carrying handle (14a) of the second outer part (14) as a carrying handle recess (14a). Packaging unit (1) according to one of the preceding claims, further comprising a side part (11) which is designed to extend along the longitudinal axis (X) laterally to the device (2) in the first outer part (13) or in the second outer part (14). Packaging unit (1) according to one of the Claims 8 until 12 and after claim 13 , wherein the side part (11) is further designed to be arranged along the vertical axis (Z) on the base part (10). Packaging unit (1) according to claim 7 and after claim 13 or 14 , wherein the side part (11) is further designed to receive at least one additional element of the device (2) such that the user can reach the additional element through the opened flap (13c). Packaging unit (1) according to one of the preceding claims, further comprising an upper part (12) which is designed to be arranged on the device (2) along the vertical axis (Z) from above, preferably opposite a side part (11) along the longitudinal axis (X). Packaging unit (1) according to one of the Claims 8 until 16 , wherein the base part (10), the side part (11) and/or the upper part (12) is/are formed as a fiber molded part. Packaging unit (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the device (2) to be packaged is a coffee stand device (2).
