Laut Feuerstättenverordnung muss bei gleichzeitigen Betrieb von Feuerstätte und motorischer Abzugshaube für ausreichend Frischluftzufuhr gesorgt werden. Der Stand der Technik sieht dafür eine elektrische Abschaltung der Abzugshaube vor, wenn das Fenster geschlossen ist. Somit ist deren Betrieb nur bei geöffneten Fenster möglich, egal ob die Feuerstätte betrieben wird oder nicht.
