Dem Fahrer wird in Abhängigkeit von seinem aktuellen körperlichen Zustand, welcher mittels des Sensors erfasst wird, ein individueller auf seinen Zustand abgestimmter Betriebsmodus für eine Fahrzeugfunktion vorgeschlagen, um eine sicherheitstechnisch optimale Fahrt zu gewährleisten. Der Fahrer kann nach Erhalt des Vorschlages mittels einer Eingabe über das interaktive Kommunikationsmittel entscheiden, ob er den angebotenen Betriebsmodus aktivieren will oder nicht. Dabei ist es von Vorteil, wenn die Anbietung eines neuen Betriebsmodus erst bei Erfassung eines aktuellen Sensorwertes des Sensors erfolgt, welcher wenigstens um eine vorgegebene Differenz von einem zu Beginn einer Fahrt des Kraftfahrzeugs erfassten Referenzsensorwertes des Sensors abweicht. Zu Beginn der Fahrt befindet sich Fahrer in einem Wachzustand, welcher einem Sollzustand des Fahrers während eines Fahrbetriebes entspricht. Erfasste Körperreaktionen des Fahrers zu Beginn einer Fahrt, insbesondere eine Änderung des Blutdrucks, des Pulses, einer Pupille, des Gesichtsausdrucks, eines Lidreflexes, einer Muskelkontraktion, des Hautwiderstandes, der Schweißsekretion, eine Lenkradbewegung und/oder eine Pedalbetätigung, können somit als Referenzsensorwerte für den Wachzustand des Fahrers herangezogen werden. Die vorgegebene Differenz zwischen dem aktuell erfassten Sensorwert und dem Referenzsensorwert sollte dabei so vorgegeben werden, dass ein ungewünschter Zustand des Fahrers, beispielsweise eine Ermüdung oder Stress, möglichst frühzeitig erfasst wird, um rechtzeitig die geeigneten Maßnahmen anbieten zu können, welche den Fahrer schnellstmöglich wieder in den für eine sichere Fahrt notwendigen Wachzustand überführen und ihn gegebenenfalls durch weitere Hilfsmaßnahmen zu unterstützen. Mittels der vorgeschlagenen Betriebsmoden für wenigstens eine Fahrzeugfunktion soll im weiteren Fahrtverlauf der Fahrer auch vor weiteren Ermüdungsphasen oder Phasen eines körperlichen Unbehagens geschützt werden.
