Description

A. M. A. Arch. ind. Hyg. occupat. Teile Luft, ermittelt.Test tube for the quantitative detection of hydrogen peroxide vapors and mists The invention relates to a test tube for quantitative detection of hydrogen peroxide vapors and mists contained in the air. Hydrogen peroxide in high concentrations is preferred as a fuel additive for rocket engines and: uses other combustion processes. It is known that high percentage hydrogen peroxide highly toxic. Acute, subalcute and chronic exposure tests with Laboratory animals report Colonels, Comstock and Hackley and coworkers in, A. M. A. Arch. Ind. Hyg. Occupat. Med. 10, 1954, pp. 319 to 327. In this work the toxicity of the vapors and a MAK number for mist of 90% H2 02 of 7 ppm, i.e. H. 7 parts to 1 million parts of air, determined.

It is therefore necessary that the operating personnel check the hydrogen peroxide content in the air and in the case of high concentrations in the air in front of it protect: must. The subject of the invention is used to detect the concentration.

The invention consists in a test tube for quantitative detection. The test tube is filled with a known carrier material, z. B. Silica gel, filled, on which titanium, yl sulfate, vefelsic acid is applied. With Hydrogen peroxide of 901 / e, yes already with that of 251 / o, gives the reaction mass, if hydrogen peroxide mist is sucked through, a lemon yellow. ring at the point of entry, which widens with a higher content in the air, like this d: ate you can determine the concentration afterwards. From the titanyl sulfuric acid and The well-known peroxotitanyl sulfuric acid is formed with the hydrogen peroxide H2 [TI 02 (S04) 21-The preparation of the tube filling proceeds as follows: 1 g of titanium dioxide is boiled in 8 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid until a white mist develop. The brown, cloudy solution is allowed to cool and then poured into as much Ice water that a 0.5%, almost clear solution is formed, i.e. in about 190 ml of water. Finally: make up to 200 ml. 60 ml of this solution are made up 100 g dried silica gel or another carrier substance brought and shaken, until the crowd is trickling. This mass is then filled into tubes as usual and this at both ends.
