Der in Fig. 1 dargestellte Fahrzeugcockpitausschnitt 1 ist in herkömmlicher Weise mit einem Armaturenbereich 2, einem Handschuhfachbereich sowie einer Mittelkonsole 4 gebildet. Unterhalb des Armaturenbereichs 2 und des Handschuhfachbe reichs 3 verläuft eine Abdeckung 5, die in vorteilhafter Wei se als Zierblende ausgebildet ist und sich über die gesamte Cockpitbreite erstreckt. Die gesamte Anordnung lässt sich also sehr einfach montieren. Ein besonderer Vorteil ist, dass die gesamte Anordnung vormontiert werden kann und nur noch in das Cockpit eingeschnappt zu werden braucht, nachdem der Gas sack 6 mit einem Gasgenerator verbunden wurde.
