Abstract

The lock mechanism for the door of a bathroom or toilet cubicle has a handle with a double function. When the lock is operated from the outside, only the spring bolt is operated. When the lock is operated from the inside, the locking bolt is also operated and a further turn of the lock projects the locking bolt even further in the manner of a ball-point pen movement.

Description

The invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1.

With a conventional mortise door lock (e.g. DIN 18251) the door must go through a additional actuation can be locked from the inside (e.g. by turning a key). Electrical / electronic solutions are too expensive for the "normal consumer".

Locking each time also means an additional handle that you save yourself could. The same applies to unlocking: first press the key, then the handle.

The advantage of my invention is that it is easy to use. Around a door from the inside to lock, I just press the jack and it’s locked.

When unlocking, I just have to push the handle down, and it's back open minded.

Operation is child's play because there is no key.

Simple manufacture, roughly equivalent to a standard mortise door lock. The door no longer needs a keyhole.

To make this possible, I have a conventional mortise door lock (e.g. DIN 18251) changed so that the inner and outer door handle each have different functions fulfill. When the outer door handle is operated, only the latch is moved. When pressing the inner latch, the latch and the bolt are moved so that the door is locked or can be unlocked.

With that, I only have to do a handle to close the door and later open again.  

The most important innovation is that I separate both door handle halves (inner and outer). sketch 1 shows a part as it is present in each door lock. It has in my door lock outer side still this same part (of course, only half as thick). Sketch 2 shows that second, changed part. This part also has a hook that closes the door.

The assembly then looks like this (sketch 3):
The two parts (sketch 1 and 2) are placed on top of each other and thus replace the standard part. I also need another part (sketch 3) that enables the bolt to be inserted and removed. This part has a "pen-like" function. Once actuated, it extends; pressed again, it retracts, etc. The return spring (sketch 3) has the function of moving the bolt back inwards.

The two halves of the door handle are fixed in the receptacle by a press fit.

When the outer pawl is actuated, part 1 (see arrow; sketch 1) rotates counterclockwise. This pulls the latch inwards and the door can be opened. However, the bolt is not actuated as the part with the hook (sketch 2) is not rotated.

When the inner pawl is actuated, part 2 (sketch 2) rotates, also counterclockwise. Now the latch is not only pushed inwards, but also the device (sketch 3) is actuated, which then pushes the bolt outwards. When you release the doorknob, the bolt remains engaged. The bolt does not retract until the inner handle is pressed again.

Specifically, it looks like this: I pull a door shut from the inside and press the handle below. It is finished (sketch 4). From the outside I can go down the handle to press; however, the door cannot be opened. To open it again, the doorknob be operated from the inside so that the bolt moves back.
