Description

Method of binding books from folded and thread-sewn Sheet layers The invention relates to a method for binding books from folded and thread-sewn sheet layers.

There are many different ways of binding books in bookbinding technology Procedure known. It is customary to fold the individual sheets, to collect them into a book block, to be stapled on a thread sewing machine and then gassed. The thread stitching ensures that every book block is held together securely, but it does due to their relative proportions in comparison to the folding, gathering and gazing machines low performance in the workflow of automated book production lines represent. Within such a production line, the must at high speed salted sheet layers and collected book blocks therefore so far on several Thread sewing machines distributed and brought together again by these on a Begazing machine will. This requires additional manpower and equipment.

Furthermore, threadless bookbinding is used for making books Perfect binding known. Here, adhesives or thermoplastics are used as connecting means used. This method has the advantage that the sheet layers in one work flow - Folding machine, gathering machine, gazing machine arranged one behind the other - can be processed into the finished book block, but is not suitable for manufacturing more durable and valuable books.

The single sheets are finally being used in bookbinding technology or sewn, something with special machines or in combination with a folding machine he follows. With such a stapling, however, the loosely located in the sheet loosen Basting threads for filing, stacking, conveying and further processing. To prevent this, the stapled sheets must be compressed and bundled in stacks before each conveyance will. However, this in turn hinders the flowing further processing, e.g. Am a collator, considerably, and it comes off despite all precautionary measures before that the stitching threads loosen by avoidable shifting. This suffers , the arch cohesion.

It is true to prevent loosening of the stitching threads of individual layers also known to embed these threads in a hardening mass. Here must each stitching thread, however, must be kept in a taut position during the hardening time. As a result, fluent processing is not possible here.

It also belongs to the state of the art, the most diverse materials with a porous surface by means of thermoplastic synthetic threads or tapes connect to. However, this method cannot be used in bookbinding technology, because thin plastic threads are easily destroyed during sealing and thick plastic threads Apply to the spine of the book block.

The invention is now based on the object of a method for binding of books from folded and thread-sewn sheet layers to develop the Advantages of thread stitching - firm cohesion of the book block - with the advantages the flowing processing connects.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the union of the following Features known per se solved The stitching threads are made with thermoplastic material treated and sealed during or after stapling, and the sheet layers are perfectly bound.

The stapling process can take place inside or outside the folding machine. After the folded sheets are stapled, they become one continuous Work flow compiled to the book block and in a subsequent gassing machine perfect bound. Thus, the work flow is not interrupted in any way. Through the round, uninterrupted back shape of the individual, already connected Sheet layers also become a particularly large adhesive surface between the individual layers achieved with a high capillary effect and thus the durability compared to the known Procedure significantly increased.
