PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.

PATENTSCHRIFTPATENT LETTERING

KLASSE 57: Photographs.CLASS 57: Photographs.

Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 27. Januar 1897 ab.Patented in the German Empire on January 27, 1897.

The present invention, which extends to X-ray photography, consists in the use of photographic plates covered with emulsion on both sides, Films or the like.

All previous attempts to produce an emulsion that is particularly sensitive to X-rays, have had no result. The ordinary high speed photographic plate has been found to be the most suitable. Against it it has been shown that plates, films, papers, and the like, which are double-sided with emulsion are provided, for which X-ray photography offer particular advantages. The reason for that is to be sought in the fact that approximately the same images are produced on both layers that exactly match each other and through their uniform Bearers are permanently fixed in their mutual position. Through this covering of light and the shadow of two normal images, when looking through them, an image emerges that contrasts with each other some not only in density, but above all in richness of contrast Has. A shorter exposure time is therefore sufficient to achieve the same richness in contrast.

This effect does not really come into its own in photography with ordinary light, because the side of the layer facing away from the light source as a result of diffusion and absorption of the light in the front emulsion layer an unclear, only very faint image supplies.

Plates, films, etc. covered on both sides with emulsion, which are described in the English patent specification No. 2699/1885 has been recommended to achieve a greater brilliance of the picture have found little use in ordinary photography because of the of which expected success has not been achieved.
