Description

Procedure for the detection of leaks in the casings of the Fuel elements of nuclear reactors In the operation of nuclear reactors it is important: Detect damage in the envelope of the fuel elements at an early stage. For the According to the invention, evidence of such damage is the change in the torsional stress of the servings. Rod-fed fuel elements are put into a reactor built in so that they are constantly under torsional stress during operation. This can be done, for example, by rotating the lower or upper clamping of the jacketed fuel element rods. By acquaintances Measuring methods, for example using strain gauges, the tension of the twisted Staff constantly monitored. The envelopes of the fuel elements are expedient dimensioned so that they absorb most of the torsional stress.

If damage occurs during operation, e.g. B. a leak, a breakage or corrosion damage, this will be affected by a change make the torsional stress noticeable. one constantly monitors the state of tension of all fuel rods, it is easy to detect damage to their envelope. Thus, in good time, before the defective fuel element major damage in the Reactor has wreaked havoc, measures are to be taken. PATENT APPLICATION: Process for Detection of leaks in the coverings of the fuel elements of Nuclear reactors, characterized in that the change in torsional stress of the envelope of the Fuel elements used to detect leaks in this envelope will.
