Die Erfindung betrifft eine Nähmaschine mit nach oben ragender, im oberen Ende den Greifermechanismus aufweisender und am oberen Ende desselben in beträchtlichem Abstand oberhalb des Arbeitstisches befestigter horizontaler rechteckiger Auflage für das Werkstück. Die Oberfläche der Auflage befindet sich etwa in gleicher Ebene mit der Oberfläche der Säule.
