Abstract
Se describe un método para producir H2, VFAs y alcoholes a partir de material organico, que incluye las etapas de introducir material orgánico y microorganismos en un biorreactor completamente mezclado para producir H2, CO2, VFAs y alcoholes; secuestrar CO2 en el espacio de cabeza del biorreactor; recuperar H2 del espacio de cabeza y recuperar un primer efluente liquido que incluye microorganismos, VFAs y alcoholes. Tambien se describe un sistema para producir H2, VFAs y alcoholes a partir de material orgánico, que incluye un biorreactor completamente mezclado para la fermentación oscura; una entrada para suministrar microorganismos y el material orgánico a descomponer; una trampa de CO2 en el espacio de cabeza y que incluye un hidróxido sólido para el secuestro del gas C02 del espacio de cabeza; y una salida de gas para la separación del espacio de cabeza de un efluente gaseoso que incluye gas H2. El sistema y el método proporcionan tasas de producción de H2 superiores y una corriente de H2 está sustancialmente libre de CO2.
