使用时，底座中空腔体内的卷轴纸，便于人们在需要时，取出使用，底座侧边开口的锯齿，便于人们撕断卷轴纸；人们可将小尺、笔等文具放置在筒体内部的不同腔体内，将曲别针、橡皮、长尾夹等文具放置在筒体外侧固接的储物盒内，以方便取拿使用。
