众所周知，子宫检查是妇科体检的重要科目，子宫也是妇女病的多发区域，子宫探测器广泛应用于妇科检查、人工流产、清宫手术、上环或取环、子宫肌瘤手术等，目前使用的子宫探测器是采用金属制成的整体式，呈一端粗另一端细的杆状，粗端设有手柄，细端设有探头，这种子宫探测器由于生产成本较高，所以一般采用重复使用，中间进行消毒处理，其不足之处是子宫控针前端可塑性差、检查效果差，操作时易刺伤子宫壁，另外还容易造成院内交叉感染。
