Detailed description of the invention
The present invention features tobacco compositions that can typically be used for tobacco satisfaction.
A.烟草A.tobacco
公开Nos.2003/0094182和2003/0070687、U.S.S.N.60/603和于2004年11月5日提交的U.S.S.N.__标题“烟草属组合物”中,其公开内容通过引用而并入进来。 Tobacco for use in the compositions described herein includes any raw or processed form such as powder, granules or chips. Preferably, the tobacco is sized or sized to disintegrate (eg, dissolve) in the mouth, to give the perception of solubility (eg, the tobacco does not produce a tactile sensation in the mouth), or to be easily swallowed. Alternatively, the tobacco is sized or configured to provide a tactile sensation in the mouth. Exemplary average sizes are in the range of 1-1000 μm, such as about 800, 500, 250, 100, 80, 75, 50, 25, 20, 15, 10, 8, 6, 5, 3, 2 or 1 μm or less , preferably less than 80 μm or less. The tobacco may also be in the form of a slurry or a flowable gel. Flowable gels are mixtures of formats that are dissolved in water and mixed with tobacco, and then mixed with a miscible solvent to prevent complete dissolution of the format. Such mixtures cause the format to swell to form a viscous, pseudoplastic paste that is readily dispensed at slight pressure from a container, such as a catheter. An exemplary tobacco is smokeless tobacco. Other tobaccos are described in U.S. Publication Nos. 2003/0094182 and 2003/0070687, U.S.S.N. 60/603, and U.S.S.N.____ titled "Nicotiana Compositions," filed November 5, 2004, the disclosures of which are incorporated by reference . Tobacco for use in the compositions may also be prepared according to the methods in U.S. Publication No. 2004/0112394, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. Other suitable tobaccos are known in the art.
The tobacco may be distributed randomly or evenly throughout the composition, or concentrated in different regions thereof, for example in the center or on the surface.

Quick release compositions are typically in less than 2 minutes and most preferably in 1 minute or less such as less than 60 seconds, 50 seconds, 45 seconds, 40 seconds, 35 seconds, 30 seconds, 25 seconds, 20 seconds, 15 seconds, 10 seconds , 5 seconds, 4 seconds, 3 seconds, 2 seconds or 1 second to disintegrate. The disintegration may occur by any mechanism, such as dissolution, melting, mechanical disruption (eg, from chewing), enzymatic or other chemical degradation, or disruption of the interaction between the form and tobacco. The disintegration of the form or the tobacco itself may likewise occur. The time required for the composition to disintegrate can be controlled by varying the thickness of the composition and depends on the type of form, other additives and mode of use. When placed in the mouth, the composition may temporarily adhere to a portion of the oral mucosa. In addition, the duration of tobacco satisfaction can be varied. This duration is influenced by, for example, the rate of disintegration of the composition, the rate of extraction of the organoleptic components from the composition and the residence time of the composition in the mouth. It can be at least 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour, preferably 10 seconds to 10 minutes, and more preferably 30 seconds to 5 minutes provides the tobacco satisfaction.
In other embodiments, the composition does not disintegrate in the mouth during the dwell period. In such compositions, the tobacco organoleptic components may be introduced into the mouth by dissolution, leaching, extraction or mechanical disruption caused by chewing.
Individual compositions may be sized to fit completely in the mouth, or sized to fit only partly in the mouth. Preferred cross-sections of the composition include, but are not limited to, square, circular, rectangular, oval, oval, and the like. Depending on serving size and ingredients, preferred dimensions may vary. Typically, the largest dimension of a single serving is equal to or less than 5 cm. Alternatively, the tobacco article can be formed into a larger form from which cutting or separation of individual supplies can be performed, such as by chewing, biting or oral disintegration. For example, a strip or other long piece can be placed in the container, and the customer can withdraw the desired serving size. A larger composition (or a mouth-sized piece attached to a handle) can also be partially inserted into the mouth, similar to a toothpick or a cigarette, and the consumer can suck or chew on it. In one embodiment, the larger tablet is orally disintegrable and completely consumed within a certain period of time.

The compositions of the present invention may form orally disintegrating films. The film may comprise a single layer or multiple layers. Single layer films, for example, may contain tobacco, format and other ingredients in a homogeneous mixture. A multilayer film may comprise multiple layers comprising tobacco, for example of the same or different type or size, such as perceptibly dissolved tobacco. Multiple layers may be laminated together. Additionally, as described herein, the multilayer films may contain tobacco in one or more layers and in layers comprising other components. For example, individual layers may be added for flavor, sweetness, colour, disintegration speed or stability (eg during handling or consumption). Tobacco may also be arranged between two or more layers in a sandwich arrangement. One or more layers in the interlayer may also include tobacco. In films having multiple layers, the layers may disintegrate at the same or different rates, or the layers may not orally disintegrate. When the rate of disintegration is different, the composition can provide tobacco at different times based on the disintegration of the layers. Monolayer films or individual layers in multilayer films can be foamed or aerated to provide desired physical properties or desired rates of dissolution or disintegration.
5-125μm。The membrane can be sized to fit the mouth as a single serving. Alternatively, larger membranes can be fabricated from which individual supplies can be segmented. For example, the film can be wrapped or otherwise shaped to form a hollow tube or straw, which can in turn be filled with other materials. Additionally, as described herein, films containing high percentages of 1%-99% tobacco, for example on a dry weight basis, can be prepared and then used in the preparation of flakes or powders for incorporation into other compositions. The preferred thickness of the film is typically less than 1 mm, eg less than 500, 200, 100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 μm; preferably 5-125 μm.
Membranes can be prepared using a variety of methods known in the art. While mixing, 40 g of finely ground tobacco was mixed with 15 g of microcrystalline cellulose (FMC), 17 g of starch (B-700 from Grain Processing Corp.), 16 g of glycerin, 0.8 g of Tween 80 (Unichema) and 4 g of monohard Propylene glycol fatty acid ester (PGMS from Danisco) was added together to the HPMC solution. When the temperature dropped below 100 mm, 10 g of cinnamon flavor and 2 g of sucralose (artificial sweetener) were added to the solution. 2 g of sodium carbonate was added to adjust the pH to about 7.5. Once all ingredients have been added and have been uniformly dispersed, the mixture is placed in a water bath and stirring is continued for 30 minutes with the temperature reduced to 65°. Make-up water was added as needed to obtain a Brookfield viscosity of 5,000 centipoise at 65 mm.
25%。The tobacco-containing portion of the above solution was spread onto a glass plate using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 15 mils (0.015 inches). The glass plates were placed in an air circulation test oven set at a temperature of 170 mm. After 30 minutes, the glass plate was removed from the oven, cooled to room temperature, and the dried film was removed from the glass plate with a thickness of 2.5 mils (0.0025 inches). The membrane is cut into smaller pieces that fit in the mouth. In less than 1 minute, a 1.0 inch by 1.25 inch portion of the film disintegrated in the mouth, releasing the flavor, sweetener and tobacco. The film had a tobacco content of 25% on a dry weight basis.

The glass plates were placed in a test oven at 170 mm for 10 minutes. A dry film having a thickness of 3 mils (0.003 inches) was removed from the glass plate. The film clearly has two sides, a brown tobacco-containing film on one side and a red flavored film on the opposite side. A 1.0 inch by 1.25 inch portion of the film typically disintegrates in the mouth in less than 1 minute.
实施例E. Example E. Three-Layer Film
As before, a portion of the solution from Example C was applied to a glass plate using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 5 mils and dried in a test oven. A portion of the solution from Example B was applied to the dried film of Example C using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 15 mils and dried in a test oven as before. A portion of the solution from Example C was applied to a glass plate using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 5 mils and dried in a test oven as before. The resulting film was 3 mils (0.003 inches) thick and consisted of three layers, an opaque, red flavoring layer on either side, and a middle layer comprising the tobacco film. A 1.0 inch by 1.25 inch portion of the film typically disintegrates in the mouth in less than 1 minute.
Example F. Foamed Film
To 100 g of the tobacco-containing partial solution from Example B was added 0.5 g of sodium lauryl sulfate (surfactant) under vigorous stirring. The solution is then mixed in a high shear mixer such as Silverson Laboratory Homogenizer, Model L4RT-W to create a homogeneous cell structure. The highly aerated solution was then applied to a glass plate using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 4 mils (0.040 inches) and dried in a test oven. When the dried foam film was removed from the glass plate, it had a thickness of 4 mils (0.004 inches). The 1.0 inch by 1.25 inch by 4 mil (0.004 inch) (thickness) slice of this foamed film weighed 35% less than the same slice of the non-foamed film made in Example B. The disintegration rate of the foamed film in the mouth is typically faster than the same non-foamed film prepared in Example B.
实施例G.薄片Example G. Flakes
A solution was prepared in a beaker by adding 40 g of spray-dried gum arabic (TIC Gums, Inc.) and 0.4 g of propylene glycol monostearate (PGMS) to 60 g of deionized water with vigorous mixing for 30 minutes. While stirring at high speed, 0.01 g of FD & C Red No. 40 lake was added to 10 g of this solution to ensure uniform dispersion of the color. The solution was capped and left for 24 hours to allow any entrapped air to escape. A portion of this solution was then spread onto a glass plate using a film applicator with a fixed gap of 5 mils (0.005 inches). The glass plate was placed in a test oven set at 170 mm for 20 minutes until the film was fully dry. When the film was removed from the glass plate, it broke into multiple small pieces with high gloss, vivid red flakes. This process was repeated with other FD&C lakes to make multiple flakes of different colors. Flavors and artificial sweeteners may also be added to the flakes.
Example H. Tobacco Sheet
To 10 g of the solution prepared in Example G was added 4 g of finely ground tobacco powder. In the same manner as in Example G, a film was prepared on a glass plate and dried, cooled and removed. The resulting flakes consisted of 50% tobacco and 50% gum arabic and had a dark brown color. Flavors can be added to the flakes if desired. Materials such as sodium carbonate may also be added to the flakes to adjust the pH.
实施例I. Example I. Tobacco Films with Sheets
典型地,实施例B的所述干膜具有干重为1g(包含25%或0.25g烟草)。 Membranes were prepared as in Example B. While the film was still wet on the glass plate, a measured amount of flakes was prepared and spread evenly onto the wet film. The glass plate was then dried in a test oven; the film was cooled to room temperature and then removed from the glass plate. Typically, the dry film of Example B has a dry weight of 1 g (containing 25% or 0.25 g tobacco). If the film is divided into 20 equal film slices (1.0 inches x 1.25 inches x 2 mils), each slice weighs 50 mg (containing 25% or 12.5 mg of tobacco). If 1 g of tobacco sheet (which is 50% by weight of tobacco) is spread evenly on the film, the entire sheet of the film will have a dry weight of 2 g (comprising a total of 0.75 g of tobacco). When divided into 20 equal slices, each slice weighed 100 mg and contained 37.5 mg of tobacco. Sections of the film cut to 1.0 inches by 1.25 inches typically disintegrate in the mouth in less than 1 minute.
Example J. Tobacco film with decorative sheet
The process outlined in Example I can be repeated using decorative flakes, such as colored flakes that do not contain any tobacco, or by mixing colored flakes with tobacco-containing flakes. The resulting film has a vivid appearance.

From the same solution, a film that disintegrates relatively slowly (e.g., disintegrates in the mouth greater than 30 sec film). The film was dried for 40 minutes in the same manner as above. The films produced typically disintegrate in the mouth in less than 1 minute.
Ultrafast disintegrating films (eg, films that disintegrate in the mouth in less than 15 seconds) were produced from the same solution by foaming the solution before casting onto a glass plate. Foaming was accomplished by subjecting 100 g of each solution to high shear mixing (using an Arrow Model 1750 high shear mixer) for approximately 3 minutes, and the foam was then applied with a film applicator having a fixed gap of 30 mils. The bubble solution was immediately cast onto the glass plate. The films produced typically disintegrate in the mouth in less than 15 seconds.

Example AI. Multilayer Tablets
Tablets having two or more distinct layers may be prepared using commercially available compression equipment. The compositions of these layers may be the same or different in composition. Individual layers may vary in color, aroma, tobacco type, tobacco content, dissolution rate, and other similar characteristics. For example, a layer may disintegrate rapidly to release a fragrance or odor masking ingredient. The second layer containing tobacco powder can disintegrate more slowly, gradually exposing the tobacco.
成型件Molded parts
The tobacco composition can be formed into an article that is sufficiently rigid to be easily handled. These shaped articles can vary in physical properties and range from highly flexible to highly rigid parts. The article can be formed into any shape and can be dense or foamed. These compositions typically have a moisture content of 2-50%, preferably 5-10%, by weight of the finished product. Exemplary shapes include tube, toothpick, stick, spiral or solid rod. Typically, sucking or chewing of the insert is delayed to release the tobacco organoleptic components in the mouth. Shaped articles may or may not be orally disintegrable. The disintegrable part disintegrates within 1-60 minutes, preferably within 1-10 minutes.
The size of the molding can fit perfectly or not in the mouth. Compositions larger than the mouth can be partially inserted. A typical maximum dimension of the shaped part is 6 inches, more preferably 2.5 inches.
The shaped article may contain discrete regions, such as individual regions of the same or different flavor or color or size or tobacco format, such as tobacco that is detectable when dissolved. For example, the helical former may comprise individual strands, each strand having a different flavor or color or size or tobacco format. As a further example, shaped articles can be produced in a multi-step process, wherein the molded or extruded article consists of multiple layers, two or more of which contain different flavours, colors or sizes or tobacco formats.
The molding compositions can be prepared using any method known in the art, such as extrusion, compression molding, injection molding, stamping, foam molding, blow molding and overmolding. Furthermore, shaped parts can be based on water-soluble or thermoplastic forms. In one embodiment, the water-based form is made by forming a viscous slurry of the format, water, tobacco, and other ingredients, such as by the Hobar process, and pressing the slurry into a form , extruded through a die or formed into a sheet from which the shape is cut. The chips or forms may then be dried to a moisture content of 2-50% by weight of the finished product, preferably 5-10% for highly rigid parts and 10-50% for highly flexible parts. In another embodiment, the aqueous slurry can be formed in a two-stage extrusion process (such as by a Wenger twin-screw extruder), wherein the format is mixed in a mixing or pre-extrusion stage of the machine. , water, tobacco, and other ingredients, and the resulting slurry is fed directly into the machine's twin-screw extrusion elements and extruded through a die to form a shape, which is then dried to the desired moisture content. Thermoplastic-based moldings are produced, for example, by mixing the components by means of a PK mixer, high intensity mixer, pregranulator or granulation (fluid bed or Hobart) process. The mixed components can then be extruded through a conventional single or twin screw extruder to form shaped parts, or the mixture can be fed into an injection molding machine or other thermoplastic processing machinery to form shaped parts.

10-50 g of water was added per 100 g of dry compound in sufficient quantity to soften the compound and pass it through a pasta die mounted on the mixer. The mold parameters are as follows:
As long as the steam is allowed to vent freely during stretching of the form, the longer the residence time, the more rigid the form can be produced. Additives can also be used so that the molded part remains flexible after removal from the mould. A good piece is formed if the molded part comprising mostly low viscosity HPC is left in the mold for a long time (40-60 seconds). The inclusion of plasticizers increases the rate of moisture absorption from the environment, which causes some molded parts to soften over time.
When the mold cavity is completely filled with molding compound, dense and rigid parts are produced. When the cavity is filled to about 75% of the mold capacity, under expanding steam pressure, the compound forms a foamed part that has good rigidity, good flavor and easily collapses in the mouth untie.
Foaming is accomplished in aqueous systems by introducing a surfactant, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, into the mixture and beating to introduce air; Foaming or aeration is accomplished by introducing a gas, such as nitrogen, into the aqueous system. The aqueous system is then dried to the desired moisture level to produce a stable foam composition. In one embodiment, an aqueous composition is introduced to partially fill a die; the die is closed; the mold temperature is raised above the boiling point of water to form steam that expands the aqueous composition to fill void areas and produce foamed molded parts. For thermoplastic systems, foaming can be accomplished by incorporating water into the tobacco/formula composition; raising the temperature above the boiling point of the water to form the vapor, and as the tobacco composition exits the die, the The steam expands to create a foam structure. In another embodiment, a gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide is introduced into the molten thermoplastic tobacco composition before the composition is released from the extruder to produce a highly uniform foam structure in the formed tobacco composition . Other thermoplastic foaming methods known in the art, such as jet foam molding, can be used to prepare foamed tobacco compositions and shaped articles.

Tobacco particles were introduced into the feed zone of a Leistritz Micro-18 Twin Screw Extruder 40:1 L/D, which had been designed with a medium shear screw configured for co-rotating extrusion. The feed rate for the extrusion was 1-3 pounds per hour. Barrel zone temperature is 75-100_. The flavor application rate was set at 5% of the process flow rate; thus the cinnamon flavor could be incorporated downstream of the process into the pelletized feed. Venting of volatiles from the extruded melt can be accomplished by incorporating a vent before the discharge die of the extruder.
Solid tobacco rods having a diameter of about 1/8 inch were produced by incorporating a cord die at the discharge end of the extruder. Upon discharge, the flexible tobacco rope may be cooled to room temperature and hardened on an air-cooled conveyor belt, and may be cut to approximately 2-inch lengths. The formed tobacco rods are placed in suitable containers for storage. The stick disintegrates slowly in the mouth within 5-10 minutes.
Gels and Gel Beads. The compositions of the present invention may also be formulated as gels or gel beads. The composition may comprise a tobacco-containing soluble or insoluble gel. The gel can be used to encapsulate other materials, or other materials can encapsulate the gel. Gels can be consumed in hydrated forms containing up to 70% water. The gel can also be dried to produce parts comprising 1-70% water. The amount of water retained in the gel depends on the properties desired in the finished product. Gels can be prepared that include tobacco that provides a variety of organoleptic properties.
Exemplary gel formers for soluble or insoluble gels include kappa carrageenan, sodium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, pectin, agar and starch.
A tobacco-containing soluble gel can be formed by dissolving the format at elevated temperature, such as kappa carrageenan at 180 mm, and adding tobacco powder to this solution with continued vigorous mixing. The hot mixture is then deposited into molds. Gelatin provides a weak gel at room temperature, but its firmness and stability can be increased by the addition of agar or starch. Other gel forms can be formed in a similar manner.
Insoluble gels are formed by adding a crosslinker to a predissolved solution or slurry. The solution is deposited in a mold to form the desired shape and solidified by cooling and/or drying. In most cases, the solution must be maintained at elevated temperatures, such as greater than 180 mm, to prevent premature gelation prior to deposition into the mold. After the gel has hardened into its final shape, the gel can be packaged as is or further dried to the desired moisture content. Crosslinking agents include potassium ions for carrageenan, calcium ions for alginates and low methoxyl pectins, and trivalent ions such as aluminum for carboxymethylcellulose. In insoluble gels (ie, those that do not orally disintegrate), the tobacco organoleptic compounds can leach from the gel when the gel is swallowed or chewed.
In one embodiment, the gel composition, ie, the beads, has a solid or liquid center. Exemplary solid centers include smokeless tobacco. Depending on the dissolution properties of the encapsulated bead walls, the liquid inside can be aqueous, non-aqueous or heterogeneous. Water-based liquids may typically be encapsulated in a water-insoluble gel that disintegrates mechanically or chemically in the mouth. Encapsulating gel forms may include polymers and crosslinkers. Exemplary systems include carrageenan and monovalent cations such as potassium, alginate or pectin and divalent ions such as calcium, carboxymethylcellulose and trivalent ions such as aluminum, and gelatin and arabic gum. The center may or may not include tobacco.
In another embodiment, a water soluble gel encapsulates a non-aqueous filler such as using ethanol, glycol, vegetable oil or mineral oil. The water-soluble gel and/or the non-aqueous filler may contain tobacco and other ingredients as described herein. Aqueous liquids can also be encapsulated in water-soluble gels by adding additives such as sugar or salt that sufficiently bind the available moisture in the filler, thus preventing the water in the liquid from dissolving the sealant. Gel sealants are also available in hard standard and soft standard gelatin capsules which can be filled with liquid or solid.
The center of these gel compositions may or may not include tobacco, eg, as tobacco pulp. The gel sealant may or may not also include tobacco. Exemplary solid centers include smokeless tobacco. The center may also include a color, sweetener, flavor or odor masking agent, which may be the same or different than that of the gel sealant. The disintegration rates of the gel sealant and the center may be the same or different. Gels with a center typically have a largest dimension of up to 10mm, such as up to 5mm. Gel beads having a liquid center can be produced by introducing droplets of the tobacco/formula mixture into a solution, causing gelation of the outer surface of the gel bead, and maintaining the liquid center. Beads can be formed using an industrial process developed by Morishita Jintan Company and others and generally referred to as "seamless liquid encapsulation" or "seamless capsule technology". Furthermore, suppliers of alginate, carrageenan, and pectin polymers have developed widely used methods for forming gels of all types, including beads, which are well known in the art. By changing the concentration of the form agent, the concentration of the cross-linking agent (such as a salt), the temperature of the solidification solution and the residence time of the gel beads in the solidification solution, the amount of gelation can be controlled, thereby controlling the gelation rate. The thickness of the adhesive sealant. The solution may contain a cross-linking agent or may induce gelation by other means such as temperature changes.
Solid gels are either soluble or insoluble. For solid gels, the tobacco and format are typically mixed, with or without additives, and the format is allowed to gel. Soluble gels can be prepared using self-gelling gum gelatins such as gellan gum or kappa carrageenan, or using polymers such as gelatin that solidify by changing the temperature. Insoluble solid gels can be prepared using cross-linking agents. This soluble or insoluble gel can be made by introducing the droplets into an oil bath such as canola oil or into an aqueous crosslinking bath to form spherical shapes. It can also be prepared by introducing the oil into a water-based crosslinking solution. Gels can also be formed in molds or die cut from sheets.
In another embodiment, the gel composition is supplied as a dry mix of format, cross-linking agent (eg, salt) and tobacco, for example in powder form, which is solvated prior to use by the consumer. Solvation allows the gel composition to form a solid that can be placed in the mouth. Typically, the user places the dry mix of gel ingredients into a mold and adds a solvent, either aqueous or non-aqueous. The mixture then hydrates rapidly, forming a gel that solidifies in the shape of the cast. Solvating liquids can be used to impart aroma or other taste or mouthfeel characteristics to the compositions. Alternatively, the consumer may dissolve the dry mix by placing it in the mouth. The solvent may impart fragrance or color to the composition.

Grand Rapids, MI). The saturated foam was placed on a metal tray and placed in a laboratory oven set at 175 mm with air circulation for 1 hour. When the foam was removed from the oven, the tobacco-containing composition was dried to form a coating that uniformly covered all crevices of the polyurethane foam. The coated foam is cut into mouth-sized pieces (eg, 1 inch x 1 inch x 1 inch). After use, the polyurethane foam was removed from the mouth and discarded.
Example BC. Polyurethane Foam B.
A sodium alginate and calcium salt gel composition comprising finely ground tobacco as described herein is used to saturate an open cell polyurethane foam (eg, 12 inches by 12 inches by 1 inch). The alginate gel was kept at a temperature of 180 mm to prevent premature solidification of the gel. The hot alginate gel was poured onto the polyurethane foam on a metal tray and rapidly cooled in a 40 mm freezer to solidify the gel. The foam was then placed in a laboratory oven set at 175 mm air circulation for 10 minutes to surface dry the gel and reduce the moisture content to 50% based on the dry weight of the gel. The partially dried gel was allowed to fill the voids in the polyurethane foam. The foam was cut into pieces and placed in the mouth. Other embodiments of the gel in an insoluble matrix are obtained by drying the gel to a lower moisture content, such as 10% based on the dry weight of the gel. The tobacco-containing gel exhibited a firm, rubbery structure within the foam matrix and slowly rehydrated when placed in the mouth and chewed. After use, the polyurethane foam was removed from the mouth and discarded.

Film strips approximately 10 inches by 3/4 inches were cut from each sheet of prepared film. Cut strips of the same size and spiral wind a 3/16 inch diameter stainless steel mandrel. Tape the paper at each end to secure the mandrel. The paper was spirally wound with film strips in the same manner, overlapping each spiral by 1/16 inch. On each overlap, the film strips were self-adhesive with a 30% solution of gum arabic. The method was repeated with two more membranes. The mandrel and newly formed spiral wound film straw/stick were dried in a side sweep forced air oven (VWR model 1330FM) at 75°C for 15 minutes. Once removed from the oven, the spiral wound straw/stick was removed from the mandrel and the paper "core" was removed from the inside of the straw/stick. Cut the resulting straws/sticks into multiple sizes.
For example, a spiral wound straw/stick article was made using the tobacco-containing film described in Example N for Rod/Wrap/Pouch/Vacuum Formed Flavored Tobacco Film. One-, two-, and three-layer straw/stick articles comprising the film of Example N were prepared as described. The straw/stick gradually disintegrates within 1-5 minutes when it is placed in the mouth.
In another example, a straw/stick article was made using two layers of film as described in Example N. A third film was provided at the tip or periphery of the straw/stick - a scented/colored film for the stick/pack/sachet as prepared in Example O. The film from Example O was red, cinnamon flavored and contained no tobacco. When the straw/stick is placed in the mouth, it gradually disintegrates within 1-5 minutes.

The tobacco-containing monolayer film prepared in Example N was used. A second layer of opaque white film, prepared as in Example Q, was wrapped over the first layer of film and offset by 1/8 th inch. A third layer of tobacco-containing film prepared in Example N was wrapped over the second layer and again offset by 1/8 th inch. This action provides a helically wound straw/stick with a striped appearance. When placed in the mouth, the straw/stick gradually disintegrates within 1-5 minutes.
In another example, hollow tobacco straws having diameters ranging from 1/8 to 1/4 inch were made using methods similar to those in Examples AQ of the molding. However, a tube die is used in the production of the straw. The straw disintegrates slowly in the mouth within 5-10 minutes. Similar articles are prepared with fillers using methods known in the art, such as coextrusion.

For example, the form may contain regions of a gel composition, such as with various fragrances. In another embodiment, the tablet may be surrounded by gel. Composite compositions may also have different disintegration rates.
E.包装E. Packaging
Individual compositions may be packaged in appropriate quantities. Preferably, the composition is storable in a waterproof container and is stable between 40-120 mm. Compositions are typically dry, pliable and tack-free on storage. Alternatively, the composition can be packaged between supplies using a non-adhesive barrier such as plastic film or paper. The composition may also be provided in bulk form, thereby separating a single supply.
In another embodiment, the package is watertight and water insoluble and the tobacco in liquid, slurry or flowable gel form is contained within the package such as a compressible plastic pack, bellow or the inside of a spray bottle and can be dispensed into the mouth from said package. The capsule can be compressed for oral use. Solutions or slurries are prepared for use in plastic film capsule containers or other similar consumer packaging containers, wherein the liquid is injected into the mouth by squeezing the packaging. Thixotropic polymers are mixed with tobacco and other ingredients to create more viscous solutions suitable for use in other containers. Tobacco particles may be of a larger size, but must still be small enough to pass through the opening of the container. For spray bottles, a stabilized tobacco slurry is contained in the bottle; tobacco particles are sized to pass through a nozzle without clogging the opening; and the tobacco slurry is sprayed directly in the oral cavity. Liquid sprays are prepared by dissolving thixotropic polymers such as xanthan gum, gellan or dextran in water and suspending tobacco particles in the low viscosity (eg <50 centipoise) solution. Other compounds such as flavoring, sweetening and dispersing agents may be added to the solution. The tobacco particles are ground to a particle size (eg <80 microns) that allows the homogeneous solution to pass through the opening of the spray bottle. Other packages may be otherwise extruded or used to release tobacco in the mouth.
