A tube ring 30 made of plastic material, eg the same material as the handle 61 and support frame 68, with a cylindrical axis perpendicular to the surface 65, has one end embedded in the spacer 64 and the opposite end protruding from the surface. These rings 30 surround the tufts of bristles 67 which pass through them and melt their ends so as to form the extensions 31 and are set in the elastic material of the gasket 64 . This configuration allows the bristle tufts 67 to reciprocate in the direction of the bristles, sliding within the ring 30 . This way of arranging the bristles 67 is disclosed in the applicant's pending European patent application EP 04010962.1 filed on May 7, 2004. A method of embedding such a ring 30 in such a spacer 64 is disclosed in WO-A-04080238.
