Abstract

The invention relates to a device for stacking flat, rectangular bodies, particularly folded pallet collars. Said device is characterized by the fact that it comprises at least three planar elements forming a cage-shaped frame that is provided with a bottom part (10) and at least two lateral parts (20; 30) which are aligned at a certain angle from each other via a common connecting edge (60) while at least one lateral part is provided with a recess which extends upwards from the bottom part (10) and runs essentially parallel to the connecting edge (60).

Description

Device for stacking pallet frame edges

The invention relates to a device for stacking flat and rectangular structures, in particular to a device for stacking pallet frame edges.

Industrial, commercial, and especially service industry companies commonly use pallets to store and transport items. In order to secure the items against sliding sideways on the pallet, it is known to use the frame edge of the pallet as a delimitation. This pallet frame is, for example, described in German utility model patent DE9302029.

In order to be able to store and transport such pallet rims in the most space-saving manner possible, the device is preferably configured to be collapsible so that they can be folded together to form a flat rectangular member. Such an embodiment is disclosed, for example, in European Patent No. EP0825954, which describes a collapsible four-sided frame.

In order to be able to store and transport the pallet frames, it is also practical to stack the pallet frames. German laid-open specification DE 4240882, for example, describes a stacking frame for pallets with a pallet rim, wherein the stacking frame prevents the pallets from sliding out of the stack sideways.

Furthermore, with regard to the stacking of empty pallets, a number of different pallet stacking devices are known which allow stacks of pallets to be formed from below, each new stack being lifted by lifting the already formed stack. The pallet is inserted into the stack as the bottom pallet. The advantage of this device is, for example, that the insertion and removal of pallets can be performed at a low height. In such an embodiment, for example, a lift mechanism, gripper and/or separator would be used to lift the stack.

Also included in pallet stacking devices with grippers and adjustable lifting mechanisms is, for example, the pallet stacker described in German utility model DE20104585, which places pallets at the bottom of the stack insert. When a pallet is inserted, the pallet stack is lifted in its entirety.

Furthermore, pallet stacking devices are known for stacking a pallet in alignment on a frame specially formed for this purpose, so that the pallets are stacked straight on top of each other. German laid-open specification DE 10020475 describes, for example, a pallet stack alignment device which stacks pallets straight without mechanical action. For this purpose, the device has a funnel-shaped opening in its upper region, from which the pallets are stacked vertically one on top of the other by the stacker.

Also known are display containers for flat objects. For example, German utility model DE8809364U1 describes a folding box made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or the like as a display container. The container has at least one open side for receiving a plurality of stacked items. The configuration of the folding box is such that it can simply be set up without any special tools to form a very stable box. Moreover, materials are used as efficiently as possible. This is achieved in particular by a base plate which is separated from the housing.

The object of the present invention is to provide a device for stacking pallet frames allowing easy and safe transport of the formed stack, whereby the pallet frames are all folded into a flat and rectangular configuration.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a device for stacking flat, rectangular structures, in particular a device for folding pallet rims, comprises three planar elements forming a box-shaped frame, which frame has a bottom part and at least two side parts, whereby the side parts abut one another at an angle via a common connecting edge. Here, at least one side part has at least one recess which extends upwards from the bottom part substantially parallel to the connecting edge of the side part.

In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the device has equipment for accommodating a lifting and/or transport mechanism. This equipment is preferably located on the bottom part of the device, but may also be located on the side parts. This arrangement of lifting and/or transport means is used to transport the unit, with or without stacked pallet rims, to various places of use or storage.

In the device described here, a pallet can be placed in place as a stack base, on which the folded pallet frames can be stacked one on top of the other. When stacked, the individual pallet frame sides are aligned on the box frame. To fasten a completed stack, it can be fastened with at least one fastening strap, starting from the side portion with the notch. In this case, the straps are preferably pulled taut around the base plate and the stack together. In this way the pallets can be transported and stored together with the stack.

Further advantages, features and practical developments of the invention can be derived from the subclaims and from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the drawings.

FIG. 1 shows a particularly preferred embodiment of a device according to the invention for stacking flat quadrangular bodies, in particular for stacking the edges of folded pallets, wherein the device comprises at least three planar elements. These three elements are sufficient to form such a box-shaped frame with a bottom part 10 and two side parts 20 and 30 . There may also be a third side portion if appropriate. A third side part increases the stability of the device, but it limits the possibility of insertion into the edge of the pallet frame, since only one direction of passage is left.

The planar elements of the frame can be made in different ways. They may be, for example, sheets, grids and/or woven structures. The elements are preferably made of a material that ensures the necessary rigidity of the device. Plates made of sheet metal provide high stability, but also add weight to the device. Plates made of plastic or other materials are therefore better suited for many applications.

The use of grids and braided structures allows a considerable reduction in the weight of the device. Here, for example, the grid must be configured in such a way that sufficient rigidity of the device can be achieved.

Rods and/or pipes of various materials, for example, are suitable for the manufacture of gratings.

Braided structures may, for example, be made from tensioned fabric sheets and fabric strips tensioned between frame members forming the basic structure of the device. The frame can be made, for example, of pipes, rods or sheet metal, while the sides, or if necessary the bottom surface, can also be covered with fabric strips to reduce their weight.

The planar elements are preferably connected together in such a way that the side parts 20 and 30 form an angle of substantially 90° at a common connecting edge 60 . In order to obtain good alignment of the pallet frame edges, an angle of 90° is most favorable, but this also includes angles in the size range of 85° to 95°. The folded pallet rims may be placed within the box-shaped frame so as to be stacked upon each other, and then aligned with the side portions of the device in such a way as to result in a stack of pallet rims exactly one above the other.

In order to be able to transport stacks of flat structures easily and safely, these stacks are usually bound with straps made of plastic or other materials. In order to be able to fix such fastening strips to the stack of pallet frame sides created by this device, according to the invention at least one side part of said device has at least one recess extending substantially from the bottom part 10 The upper part extends upwards parallel to the connecting edge 60 . The word "substantially" is meant to also include those configurations which deviate from parallel to the connecting edge 60 by up to 10°. It would be particularly advantageous if a side part could have two elongated notches, so that the stack could be bound with two fastening straps.

It has also proven to be advantageous if the device can be equipped for accommodating a lifting and/or transport mechanism. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, these devices are located in the bottom part 10 of the device. However, they could also be mounted on the side parts 20 and 30, or else they could be integral with these parts. For example, openings, hooks or other engagement arrangements are possible in this regard.

In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the means for arranging a lifting and/or conveying mechanism on the bottom part 10 of the device consist respectively of an elongated opening 70 and at least one U-shaped opening above said opening. The corner pieces are 80 formed. In this way, the load of the lift truck can again be pushed into the bottom part 10 below the corner piece section 80 when the device is on a surface.

If a bottom pallet is to be used for stacking the pallet frame edges, then it is preferable to separate the corner pieces 82 to make it possible for this first bottom pallet to be inserted into the device. This is shown in another particularly preferred embodiment of FIG. 2 . Here, preferably, two U-shaped corner pieces 81 and 82 are used at the front end and the end of each elongated opening, respectively. In this way, the bottom pallet can be placed across the elongated opening 70 with a lift truck, and the load of the crane slides with the pallet between the two corner pieces 81 and 82 . Pallets can be placed between corner fitting segments. However, in another possible embodiment, the height of the corner fitting segments may be chosen such that the pallet can be placed over the corner fitting segments without being obstructed by the corner fitting segments.

Other forms of lifting equipment may also be provided in the bottom part as equipment for lifting and transporting the device. This includes, for example, the possibility of providing support feet under the bottom part in order to lift the device off a surface so that the lifting mechanism can be pushed under the device.

A procedure for operating the device according to the invention will be described below by way of example. Here, the stacking aid according to the invention for pallet rims is transported, for example, with a lift truck, an electric lifting mechanism or a forklift to the desired construction site. For this, the carrier forks of the transport mechanism are inserted into the opening 70 and the entire device is lifted at the corner pieces 81 and 82 and brought to the place of use.

To start working, a pallet is inserted between the corner pieces 81 and 82 in the bottom part 10 . Care must be taken here to ensure that the pallet rests against the side sections. The pallet frame edges, which have been folded and ready to be stacked, are placed into the unit. In order to obtain a stable stack, it has been shown that several layers are placed in one direction, and then additional layers are stacked in a direction perpendicular to the previous direction. When the stack is complete, the stack can be bound from the sides 20 interrupted by the openings 40 and 50 with, for example, plastic tape. When this is done, a lifting mechanism is moved under the pallet, which lifts the stack of 8 out of the stacking aid along with the pallet. Then, the next stack can start again.
