Abstract

A cover for a lace-up football boot has a continuous resiliently expandable sleeve (1). The sleeve is wrapped around the shoe in use so that the shoe can pass through the sleeve with its toe extending from one end of the sleeve and so that the underside of the sleeve engages the lower part of the shoe in the region between the heel and the toe, i.e. under the arch. The present invention relates to a shoe cover for lace-up sports shoes, and sports shoes equipped with the shoe cover. In this specification, the term "sports shoe" refers to any kind of shoe, including boots.

Background technique

Athletic shoes, such as football boots, are generally worn on the feet with laces, and when put on, the laces are tightened to pull the upper part of the shoe against the foot. When the shoe is used in sports involving kicking football, the laces may become loose, which may pose a danger to the wearer, who may trip over the loose end of the lace. Additionally, the shoes are prone to wear and tear, which can be a problem since frequent shoe replacements are expensive.

US 6,038,792 shows a football shoe cover comprising a rubber cover spread over the entire upper portion of the shoe and held in place by fastening straps. Although the shoe covers cover the laces of the shoes, attaching the shoe covers to the shoes is a hassle considering the need to securely fasten the straps.

DE 29800180 shows a shoe cover for football boots, with straps extending under the part of the shoe under the arch, so that it is similarly inconvenient to put on and take off.

A further problem with known types of shoe covers is that they generally detract from the cosmetic and/or prestige value of the football boot.

Contents of the invention

According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a boot cover for lace-up football boots, the boot cover comprising a continuous, elastically expandable cover which is spread around the shoe so that the shoe passes through the cover with its toe from the One end of the sleeve protrudes and engages the underside of the sleeve with the sole portion of the shoe in the area between the heel and the toe, so that the sleeve grips the upper portion of the shoe and said sole portion, thereby holding the sleeve in place on the shoe On top, the cover also covers the laces to keep them from unraveling.

Optionally, the surface is provided with a number of rectilinear indentations distributed in the same pattern.

Preferably, this section is substantially centrally located in the upper portion of the case so that it rests, in use, on the lace of the shoe on which the case is fitted.

Preferably, the cover includes fastening means for releasably retaining the tongue of the shoe.

It is currently fashionable for some professional football players to fold up the upper portion of their football boot tongues. Athletes wishing to emulate this will have an easier time securing the tongue in the folded position using this shoe cover.

Preferably, the fastening means includes a piece of filamentary hook or eye for engaging additional material on the tongue to provide a contact tight fastening between the shoe cover and the tongue.

Alternatively, the mass may be a filamentous headed protrusion.

The sleeve is preferably made of a water-impermeable material that prevents water from entering the shoe around the edge of the tongue.

Preferably, the sleeve is constructed of molded latex, conveniently about 1mm-1.5mm thick.

According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a shoe cover for football boots, wherein at least a part of the shoe cover is transparent. The shoe cover preferably comprises a transparent cover, conveniently formed from a resiliently expandable material, such as silicone.

The present invention also relates to a sports shoe equipped with the above shoe cover.

Description of drawings

Detailed ways

Referring now to Figures 1 and 2, a shoe cover for a soccer shoe (boot) comprises a cover 1, which is a single piece of strip of latex material with a thickness of about 1mm-1.5mm. The cover has a rear opening 2 and a front opening 4 formed on the lower side 5 and the edge of the upper part 6 of the cover. In use, the upper part 6 extends at the upper part of the shoe around the sides of the shoe up to the sole, while the lower part 5 extends across the middle region of the sole of the shoe. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the cover is tapered from the top to the bottom, so that the middle part (reference number 8) of the shoe cover 6 is longer than the following 5 in the axial direction of the cover.

The shoe cover 6 includes a central section 10 that includes an array of ribs, such as ribs 12, in a raised herringbone pattern. Each rib protrudes a small distance from the base of the shoe cover 6 . This rib is elastically compressible and as a result enables the cover to exert a high frictional force on the ball in contact with the section 10 .

Two similar ribbed side sections 14 and 16 flank section 10 . The ribs for all segments are formed in the same way, eg by molding a latex sleeve or by subsequent etching or sandblasting of the surface.

A piece of fastening material 20 is attached to the upper part 6 of the shoe cover, in the central part (relative to the periphery of the cover) and close to the opening 2 . The material adopts a plurality of filamentary hooks capable of cooperating with the material on the inner surface of the tongue of the football boot on which it is fitted. The material 20 thus provides a contact-tight tie with the tongue half. The material of this block 20 may be, for example, VELCRO ^™ .

The sleeve shown in Figures 5-7 is identical in all respects to the sleeve of Figures 1-3 except for its dimensions. Accordingly, each referenced part of the sleeve of Figs. 6 and 7 is designated by a reference numeral corresponding to a corresponding part of the sleeve of Figs. 5, 1-2.

Both types of covers are intended for football boots, such as shoe 58 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 . The shoe 58 has a toe portion equipped with a plurality of studs 60 and a heel portion equipped with other studs 62. In order to be fitted on the shoe 58, the cover 1 is stretched so that the toe of the shoe 58 can pass through the opening 5. through the sleeve, protruding from the opening 4, as shown in Figures 4 and 5. The sleeve needs to be stretched by hand so that it can straddle the studs 60 . When the cover is in the position shown in Figures 4 and 5, the underside 5 extends through the central part of the sole, in the area under the arch of the foot without studs. When the sleeve is in this position, releasing the sleeve 1 causes the elastic material of the sleeve to contract so that the sleeve wraps tightly around the shoe 58, extending its upper portion over the shoelaces and down from the sides of the shoe.

The cover then cooperates with the sole to hold the cover on the shoe, eliminating the need for any additional fasteners or straps. Therefore, the shoe cover can be easily put on and taken off, and is securely covered in use. In another embodiment of the invention, the sleeve can be made of transparent silicone, so that indicia on the shoe (eg, trademarks and other markings or surface decorations) are visible through the sleeve. In this case, the friction sections 10, 14 and 16 may be integrally formed with the sleeve, or may comprise initially separate adhesive blocks. The cover can still be marked with the branding material used for shoe covers (eg printed on the cover). In all other respects the sleeve is identical to the first embodiment.

Sections 10, 14 and 16 ensure more contact with the ball being kicked and contact with the areas associated with a correct kick/strike. Therefore, shoe covers are very beneficial as an auxiliary training method. Increased contact with the ball means greater friction, resulting in more flex, spin and better control. The shoe has a tongue 66 with a fabric upper cover 68 . The tongue can be folded over, as shown in FIG. 5, to bring the fabric into contact with the material 30, which releasably holds the tongue in the folded position shown in FIG.

Claims (18)

1. A shoe cover for lace-up football boots, said shoe cover comprising a continuous elastically expandable sheath that extends around the shoe, through which the shoe can be passed, with its toe extending from one end of said sheath and the underside of the cover is engaged with the sole portion of the shoe in the area between the heel and the toe of the shoe, so that the cover grabs the upper part of the shoe and the sole portion, making the cover fit on the shoe Bit, the sleeve also covers the shoelaces to prevent the shoelaces from unraveling. 2. A shoe cover as claimed in claim 11, wherein said fastening means comprises a wire hook or eye for engaging additional material on the tongue to provide contact between said shoe cover and the tongue Fasten tightly. 13.
