Abstract

本发明提出了一种在保持现有SDTV传输不改变的同时,能显著节约带宽的传送SDTV/HDTV服务的方法和系统。根据本发明的一个实施例,可实现一个用于提供HDTV信号的系统。该系统获得一个包含HD增强数据流的增强层。并将该HD增强层传送到一个服务器。用户能通过一个机顶终端访问该服务器,以通过网络系统接收HD增强层。在本发明的另一个实施例中,一个包含SD数据流的基本层也被传送到机顶终端,使所述终端将HD增强层和基本层合并成为一个HDTV输出。

Description

通过广播和网络流传送双层HDTV信号的方法和系统
                                  技术领域
本发明主要涉及数字广播技术,尤其是与标准清晰度电视(SDTV,standard definition TV)相兼容的高清晰度电视(HDTV,high definition TV)广播技术。
通常,TV服务供应商通过人造卫星、电缆和地面同时广播相同内容SDTV(如720×576i,50Hz)和HDTV(如1920×1080i,50Hz)节目。由于相关法规已在许多国家通过,要求若干年后将SDTV完全转换到HDTV服务,TV服务供应商在为了向后兼容性而维持SDTV以便为观众提供平滑的转换频道的同时,将必须增加更多的HDTV频道。为了增加更多的SDTV和HDTV频道,TV服务供应商必须更有效地利用可用的带宽。
在现有的MPEG2 HDTV/SDTV兼容的广播技术中,含有相同节目的一个标准清晰度(SD)传输流(如4-6Mbps)和一个高清晰度(HD)传输流(如18Mbps),在同一个标准模拟信道(6MHz,24Mbps)上被调制并同时被广播。一个主要的缺陷在于SD及HD数据占用了一个模拟信道中绝大部分带宽而将极少的带宽留给调制。并且即便是分配给SD传输流4Mbps和HD传输流18Mbps,也只能提供下限品质的SDTV和HDTV信号。如此,传统的0在一个模拟信道中同时传输HDTV和SDTV信号的方法,会导致用于接收HDTV和SDTV信号的阈值较高,或者SDTV/HDTV信号的质量下降的情况。另外,还需要有两套为HDTV和SDTV信号编码的编码器,而且也会由于重复传输SD部分而浪费带宽。
现已提出一个方案,可以在维持与现有的SDTV广播向后兼容性的同时,克服上述的缺陷。所提出的方案利用一种双层压缩技术(dual layer compression),并通过广播对该双层流HD信号进行传送。但是,由于该压缩技术不能足够显著地节约带宽,而且在现有的SDTV传输系统中要求很大的变化,所以TV服务供应商对应用该方案表示犹豫。还因为不能体现其重大的益处,也就不情愿去投资相关的传输系统。
因此,这就需要提出一个用于传输SDTV/HDTV服务的改进方法和系统,以克服上述缺陷,并在保持现有SDTV传输不改变的情况下,能够达到对传统广播带宽的显著的节约。
                               发明内容
本发明提出一种用于传输SDTV/HDTV服务的方法和系统,所述方法和系统可以克服现有广播技术的缺陷,并且能够在保持现有SDTV传输不改变的情况下,达到显著的带宽节约。
根据本发明的一个实施例,提供一个用于传送HDTV信号的系统。该系统包括获得包含HD增强型数据流的HD增强层的装置,以及将HD增强层传送给一个服务器以使观众能够通过一个机顶终端访问该服务器,并从网络系统接收HD增强层的装置。
根据本发明的另一实施例,该系统进一步包括将包含一个SD数据流的基本层传送到机顶终端,使该终端能将HD增强层和SD基本层合并成为一个HDTV输出的装置。
其他的目的和成就以及对本发明较完整的理解,在参看以下结合附图的说明和权利要求后,将更为明显。

在所有附图中,相同的参照数字表示相似的或相应的特征和功能。
                             具体实施方式
图1是本发明中双层SDTV/HDTV数据流怎样被传送给TV观众的总的框图。该双层包括一个包含SD数据流的SD基本层和一个包含HD增强型数据流的HD增强层。该基本层直接并独立地通过一个SDTV广播系统12,通过传统的媒体16,如地面、电缆、人造卫星等等进行广播。SDTV的机顶盒(STB)18接收SD数据流并对其进行解码,并将经解码的信号传输给SDTV20。
另一方面,HD增强型数据流被提供给一个流服务器32,以便通过互联网36将其传送给电视观众。该互联网可以是一种先进的实现例如数字视频广播互联网协议基础结构(DVB-IPI)的宽带IP网络。该先进的IP网络可以在保证服务质量(QoS)的同时在互联网上传输音频/视频(A/V)数据。这样就大大节省了传统的广播带宽,同时维持了和传统SDTV广播的向后兼容性。
来自两个层的数据流通过HDTV STB 38接收。该HDTV STB 38对接收信号进行解码,将信号合并成一个HDTV输出,然后将HDTV输出给HDTV40。
在这种方法中,TV服务供应商可通过广播和网络流途径,给那些愿意付较高费用享受较好的A/V质量的用户提供HDTV服务,同时也能够对SDTV用户保持SDTV广播服务不变。其间,如果只有增强层通过互联网被获得,那么将不会产生有任何意义的输出。
信号的两个层可用不同的方法保护,这样对内容就有更高的安全性。例如,基本层可以用如同现有SDTV广播中所用的方法保护。至于增强层,除了使用对收视者的用户鉴定,还可以应用IP网络上的内容保护技术来实现对内容的保护。
图2是根据本发明的一个实施例的HDTV机顶盒(STB)38的功能框图。HDTV STB 38包括一个以太网卡42,一个硬盘44,一个HD解码器46,一个调谐器52,一个SD解码器56,一个分辨率提升电路58和一个叠加器66。HD解码器46接收通过以太网卡42的增强层,并且对增强层中的数据流进行解码。如果IP网络的带宽足够,前述步骤可在电视观众观看节目的同时完成。否则,增强层的内容也可以预先下载并储存在硬盘44,以便电视观众后面的观看。所下载的内容可以在被观看以后通过服务器删除。
SD解码器56通过调谐器52接收基本层,并对基本层的数据流进行解码。SD解码器56的输出被提供给分辨率提升电路58,并且被电路58提升到HD格式信号。然后来自HD解码器46和分辨率提升电路58的输出被叠加器66合并在一起产生一个用于传送给HDTV40的HDTV输出。
图3是一个双层信号产生电路70的功能示意框图,该电路可用于生成基本层和增强层。电路70包括一个分辨率降低电路76,一个SD编码器82,一个分辨率提升电路86,一个叠加器92和一个HD编码器96。在电路70中,原始HD信号被分辨率降低电路76降级到SD格式信号,然后被SD编码器82编码而产生广播给SDTV用户的基本层。经编码的SD信号还被分辨率提升电路96升级到HD格式信号。经升级的HD格式信号和HD信号被叠加器92合并,并被编码器96编码而产生增强层。
在图3中,MPEG2压缩技术可以用于SD编码器82和HD编码器96,这样使传统的SD和HD编码器可以被利用。另外,MPEG2压缩技术可以仅用于SD编码器82,而将ITU H.264压缩技术用于HD编码器96以实现更高的压缩率。另外,如果和现有国际标准的兼容性不是必要的,那么ITU H.264压缩技术和其他压缩技术就可以同时用于SD和HD编码器以产生有更高的编码效率的双层信号。
虽然经过对本发明结合具体实施例进行描述,对于在本技术领域熟练的人士,根据上文的叙述作出许多替代、修改和变化将是显而易见的。因此,当这样的替代、修改和变化落入附后的权利要求的精神和范围中时,应该被包括在本发明中。

Claims (25)

1.一种传送高清晰度(HD)电视信号的系统,其特征在于,所述系统包括:
用于获得包含HD增强型数据流的HD增强层的装置;
用于将HD增强层传送给服务器,以使观众能够访问所述服务器,并通过机顶终端从网络系统上接收HD增强层的装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,所述系统进一步包括用于将包含标准清晰度(SD)数据流的基本层传送给所述机顶终端,使所述终端HD增强层和基本层合并成为一个HDTV输出的装置。
3.如权利要求2所述的系统,其特征在于,其中所述获得装置包括:
用于产生基本层的装置;
一个分辨率提升电路,所述电路用于提升基本层分辨率以产生HD格式信号;
一个叠加器,和分辨率提升电路相连,用于从原始HD信号减去HD格式信号,以产生增强信号;
一个HD编码器,和叠加器相连,用于对增强信号进行编码,以产生HD增强层。
4.如权利要求3所述的系统,其特征在于,其中产生基本层的装置包括:
一个分辨率降低电路,用于降低HD信号分辨率以产生SD格式信号;
一个SD编码器,和分辨率降低电路相连,用于对SD格式信号进行编码,以产生基本层。
5.如权利要求4所述的系统,其特征在于,其中HD编码器使用ITU H.264压缩技术对增强信号进行编码。
6.如权利要求5所述的系统,其特征在于,其中在SD编码器使用MPEG2压缩技术对SD格式信号进行编码。
7.如权利要求5所述的系统,其特征在于,其中SD编码器使用ITU H.264压缩技术对SD格式信号进行编码。
8.一个机顶终端,其特征在于,所述终端包括:
对包含HD增强型数据流的高清晰度(HD)增强层进行解码的装置;
对包含标准清晰度(SD)数据流的基本层进行解码的装置;
一个分辨率提升电路,和对基本层解码的装置相连,用于提升被解码的基本层分辨率以产生HD格式信号;
一个将被解码的HD增强层和HD格式信号合并成为一个HDTV输出的装置。
9.如权利要求8所述的终端,其特征在于,其中对HD增强层进行解码的装置包括一个用于对HD增强层进行解码的HD解码器。
10.如权利要求9所述的终端,其特征在于,其中对基本层进行解码的装置包括:
一个用于调谐接收到的基本层的调器;
一个SD解码器,和调谐器相连,用于对基本层进行解码。
11.如权利要求10所述的终端,其特征在于,其中所述合并装置包括一个叠加器,所述叠加器和HD编码器及分辨率提升电路相连,用于将被解码的HD增强层和HD格式信号合并成为HDTV输出。
12.如权利要求8所述的终端,其特征在于,所述终端进一步包括用以储存HD增强层的装置。
13.如权利要求12所述的终端,其特征在于,所述储存装置包括一个硬盘。
14.一种传输高清晰度(HD)电视信号的方法,其特征在于,所述方法包括以下步骤:
获得一个包含HD增强型数据流的HD增强层;
将HD增强层传送给服务器,使用户可以通过一个机顶终端访问所述服务器,并从网络系统接收HD增强层。
15.如权利要求14所述的方法,其特征在于,所述方法进一步包括将包含一个SD数据流的基本层传送到所述机顶终端,使所述终端将HD增强层和基本层合并成为一个HDTV输出。
16.如权利要求15所述的方法,其特征在于,其中所述获得步骤包括:
产生基本层;
使基本层分辨率提升以产生HD格式信号;
将HD格式信号从初始HD信号中减去,以生成增强信号;
对增强信号进行编码,以生成HD增强层。
17.如权利要求16所述的方法,其特征在于,所述生成基本层的步骤包括:
使HD信号分辨率降低以产生SD格式信号;
对SD格式信号进行编码,以生成基本层。
18.如权利要求17所述的方法,其特征在于,所述增强信号应用ITU H.264压缩技术进行编码。
19.如权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,所述SD格式信号应用MPEG2压缩技术进行编码。
20.如权利要求18所述的方法,其特征在于,所述SD格式信号应用ITU H.264压缩技术进行编码的。
21.如权利要求15所述的方法,其特征在于,所述基本层是经过广播传送的。
22.一种提供HD电视输出的方法,其特征在于,所述方法包含以下步骤:
对包含HD增强型数据流的HD增强层进行解码;
对包含SD数据流的基本层进行解码;
使被解码的基本层分辨率提升为HD格式信号;
将解码后的HD增强层和HD格式信号合并成为HDTV输出。
23.如权利要求22所述的方法,其特征在于,所述对基本层的解码包含以下步骤:
对接收的基本层进行调谐;
对基本层进行解码。
24.如权利要求22所述的方法,其特征在于,所述方法进一步包括一个储存HD增强层的步骤。
25.如权利要求24所述的方法,其特征在于,所述方法进一步包括在增强层被观众访问后删除已储存的HD增强层的手段。
