Abstract

technical field

The present invention relates to counter display boxes/cases which allow products packaged in individual packages to be shipped in bulk and displayed vertically at the point of sale in an aesthetically pleasing manner in the same box in which they were shipped.

Background technique

It is known that products of irregular shape, such as sweets or small items which can only be displayed loosely without packaging, can be safely transported in boxes of corrugated cardboard or other materials and displayed in modern and traditional distribution forms. For example, British Patent No. 2,281,065 and US Patent No. 4,066,205 disclose parallelepiped boxes in which the front panel can be partially folded in, and which can be placed on a shelf so that the contents are partially visible. However, such a box does not allow the products to be displayed in a neat manner, thereby making it difficult for the buyer to determine the product he will choose.

Contents of the invention

Accordingly, the present invention relates in particular to boxes for transporting products packed in elongated packages. These packages are not inherently vertically stable, but can be displayed vertically on the shelf through special arrangements and lid or box designs. Elongated packages that have no inherent vertical stabilization capability include, for example, tetrahedral packages with isosceles or equilateral triangular sides. They can be produced simply and economically from tubes closed at their ends with strip seals in mutually perpendicular planes. Such packages obviously cannot be displayed vertically on a shelf if the shelf is not specifically designed for this purpose.

The present invention therefore relates to a box for transporting elongated tetrahedron-shaped packages without vertical stabilization capabilities and having at least one angular end, which are then presented vertically in a modern and traditional distribution. Vertical positioning of the pack is achieved by the complementary formation of the angled ends formed on the lid or bottom of the box.

This complementary structure is formed by a pre-cut portion and a groove created by the crease, the width of which limits the fit of the ends to a predetermined height ensuring both good stability and good visibility of the package. In another embodiment, the complementary structure consists of pleated folds and can be unfolded flat on the bottom or fanned out, wherein the V-shaped cavity is substantially the same size as the partially angular end of the package.

These complementary structures can be formed on panels fixed to form the box or on separate panels.

Detailed ways

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a parallelepiped box 1 for transport enclosing elongated packages without vertical stability. These packages may be single-use, ie disposed of after the product has been used, or may be reusable if the package has a sealing cap. In the first case, typically a tetrahedral package with triangular sides as shown in Figure 8A, a corner of the package can be torn off for the consumer product. In the second case, it could be a tube as shown in Figure 8B, which is capped at one end after filling and includes a small or circular cap at the other end. The box 1 is made up in a conventional manner of a bottom 5, side panels 7 and 9, a front panel 6 and a rear panel 8, wherein the two side panels surround the bottom, with retaining tongues 12 at the top of each side panel, The rear panel 8 is extended as a flap hinged by folding to form a cover 10 comprising, on the side opposite the fold, a closure tongue 11 placed in the front panel 6 . For transport, the box 1 is closed and contains the aforementioned elongated package. In order to display the packages on the shelf, the cover 10 has a plurality of rectangular areas 13a, 13b, 13c, each of which has pre-cut portions and creases for forming complementary configurations of the angular ends of the packages. The long sides of these rectangular areas 13 a , 13 b , 13 c are shown parallel to the side panels 7 , 9 , but they could also be parallel to the front and rear panels 6 , 8 . The pre-cut portion is I-shaped, comprising a longitudinal line 18 and two short transverse lines 20 connected by crease areas 21 to the ends of the pre-cut portion. The two small flaps 14 formed by the pre-cut portions 18, 20 and the crease 21 are tilted towards the inside of the box by applying a small amount of pressure, as indicated by the rectangular area 13a, thereby forming the slot 15. The width of the slot 15 obviously depends on the size of the package, in particular the size of the angular ends of the package. By way of illustration only, for a tetrahedral package whose length is about twice as long as its width, experiments have shown that the mating height within the groove should be between 1/3 and 1/2 the length of the package, preferably 1/2 the length of the package. 2/5 of the stated length. For a tetrahedral package that is 9 cm long and 5 cm wide, the fit height is about 3.5 cm and the slot width is 2.5 cm.

As shown in Figure 2, in this variant the lid 10 has an angled angle which offsets the packages in the vertical direction and makes them more visible and attractive. Depending on the spacing between the respective rectangular areas 13a, 13b, 13c, the packages can be perfectly aligned one after the other or arranged in a quincunx as shown.

The box 2 shown in figure 3 in the open state corresponds to the second embodiment, in which the complementary structure of the package is formed at the bottom as two can be unfolded from the side panels 7a, 9a and can be on the same side as said panels Flaps 27 and 29 in. FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a box 3 corresponding to a third embodiment, where the complementary formation of the angular ends is also located on the bottom 5 of the box 3 . The structure is a pleat 25 formed by creases 26 . As previously mentioned, the structure may be formed by one or two flaps secured to the side panels 7a, 9a or by individual flaps of the box 3 . The spacing between the folds 26 varies with the width of the box 3 and the mating height H necessary to hold the package. This pleated structure can apparently be folded against one or both panels of the box when transported. It can also be seen that the cover 10 includes two creases 22 on each side of the pre-cut portion 23 as shown in FIG. 6 . When the lid 10 is folded in at the crease 22, an advertising message 24 or price of the contents of the display box is visible.

The display box in Figure 6 can accommodate the package shown in Figure 8A as well as the package shown in Figure 8B.

Figure 7 is a perspective view of a box 4 corresponding to a fourth embodiment, which differs from the previously described embodiments in that the pleated structure can be fanned out and held by half-discs 30 pre-cut in the bottom.

The box described above may be made by any technique known in the art, and may be formed from one side, bonded or not, by sets of indentations, grooves and folds, or from several sides by bonding. Modifications to the described embodiments may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention.
