Abstract
The application provides an electric connector and an electric connector assembly, wherein the electric connector comprises a first shell, a first terminal, a second terminal and a through hole, wherein the first terminal penetrates through a first outer wall of the first shell and is provided with a first end and a second end, the first end is arranged outside the first shell, the second end is arranged inside the first shell, the second terminal is arranged in the first shell and is provided with a first end and a second end, the second terminal is connected with the first shell and surrounds an accommodating space, the second shell is provided with a through hole for a wire harness to penetrate through, the second end of the first terminal is connected with the first end of the second terminal through a bolt, the second end of the second terminal is connected to the wire harness, and the electric connector is simple in structure, convenient to assemble, high in connection stability and high in shock resistance.

Technical Field
The application relates to the technical field of electric connectors, in particular to an electric connector and an electric connector assembly.
Background
In current new energy vehicles, a plurality of external electrical connector interfaces are usually provided on the battery pack for connecting electrical consumers. A known common electrical connector for a battery pack is typically a male-female split quick connector, which includes a male connection portion and a female connection portion that can be plugged together, the male connection portion is typically provided at an equipment end, the female connection portion is connected with a wire harness, and the male connection portion is locked by a fixing member after being connected in pairs with the female connection portion.

Disclosure of Invention
The technical problem to be solved by one aspect of the present application is how to simplify the structure of an electrical connector and to improve its mounting stability.
In addition, other aspects of the present application are directed to solving or alleviating other technical problems of the prior art.

An electrical connector, comprising:
a first housing;
A first terminal disposed through a first outer wall of the first housing and having a first end disposed outside the first housing and a second end disposed inside the first housing;
A second terminal disposed in the first housing and having a first end and a second end;
A second housing connected to the first housing and enclosing an accommodating space, a through hole for passing a wire harness being provided on the second housing;
The second end of the first terminal is connected with the first end of the second terminal through a bolt, and the second end of the second terminal is connected to the wire harness.
Alternatively, according to one embodiment of the present application, the first terminal is configured as a copper bar, the second terminal is configured as a crimp terminal, and the second end of the second terminal is crimped with the wire harness.
Alternatively, according to an embodiment of the present application, a protrusion protruding outward is provided on the first outer wall of the first housing, the first terminal is inserted into the first housing through the protrusion, and the protrusion surrounds the first terminal.
Alternatively, according to an embodiment of the application, the first outer wall is provided as a planar boss, on which an annular groove is provided around the protrusion, in which an annular sealing ring is provided.
Alternatively, according to an embodiment of the present application, a rivet nut is provided at each of the first and second ends of the first terminal.

The application has the advantages that:
1. The electric connector provided by one embodiment of the application does not adopt male-female plug connection, but directly fixes two paired terminals in the shell of the electric connector through bolts, and the electric connector forms a whole instead of two parts of a male connecting part and a female connecting part, so that the electric connector has the advantages of simple structure, convenience in assembly, higher connection stability between the terminals and strong shock resistance;
2. the two terminals in the electric connector provided by the embodiment of the application can be directly screwed in the shell, so that the electric connector is convenient to assemble, and a plurality of sealing structures are arranged between the shell and equipment, between the shell and the outside and between the shell and the wire harness, so that the tightness between the electric connector and the outside is ensured.

It is to be understood that, according to the technical solution of the present application, those skilled in the art may propose various structural manners and implementation manners that may be replaced with each other without changing the true spirit of the present application. Accordingly, the following detailed description and drawings are merely illustrative of the application and are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the application to the precise form disclosed.

Reference is made to fig. 1 and 2, which each show a cross-sectional view of an electrical connector assembly 1 according to an embodiment of the application, in two different cross-sectional planes, wherein the cross-sectional plane of fig. 2 is perpendicular to the cross-sectional plane of fig. 1. In the embodiment of fig. 2, the electrical connector assembly 1 of the present application comprises two electrical connectors 100. In the sectional view of fig. 2, two electrical connectors are shown in a top view, while in the sectional view of fig. 1, an electrical connector assembly is shown in a side view at a single electrical connector.
An electrical connector 100 according to an embodiment of the present application includes a first housing 110, a second housing 120, a first terminal 130, and a second terminal 140. The first housing 110 is, for example, mounted against the device end, in particular by the first outer wall 111, and the second housing 120 is arranged at the harness end and has a through-opening 121 provided therein for the harness 200 to pass through. The first housing 110 is connected with the second housing 120 and encloses an accommodating space 101. The first housing 110 and the second housing 120 are in particular connected in a snap-fit manner. In the embodiment of fig. 1, a recess 112, in particular an annular recess 112, is provided at one end of the first housing 110, a projection 122 is provided on the second housing 120, which engages with the recess 112, and the second housing 120 is covered at one end of the first housing 110 and engages into the recess 112 via the projection 122, so that the receiving space 101 is formed. Such a housing structure is advantageous in simplifying assembly of the electrical connector 100. It should be understood that the first housing 110 and the second housing 120 may be connected by any other means that may form the receiving space 101, such as, for example, the second housing 120 being snapped onto an inner wall of the first housing 110 or being connected by an intermediate connector, etc., which are also included in the scope of the present application.
The first terminal 130 is disposed through the first outer wall 111 of the first housing 110 and has a first end 131 and a second end 132, the first end 131 being disposed outside the first housing 110, the second end 132 being disposed inside the first housing 110. The first terminal 131 is in particular arranged as a copper bar, the first end 131 of which is electrically connected to the device and the second end 132 is connected to the second terminal 140. The second terminal 140 is disposed in the first housing 110 and has a first end 141 and a second end 142, the first end 141 of the second terminal 140 being connected with the second end 132 of the first terminal 130 by a bolt 150, the second terminal 140 being provided in particular as a crimp terminal, the second end 142 of which is crimped with the wire harness 200.
In one embodiment of the application, a rivet nut 133 is provided on the first end 131 of the first terminal 130 and a rivet nut 134 is provided on the second end 132, the rivet nut 133 on the first end 131 being used for electrical connection between the first terminal 130 and the device and the rivet nut 134 on the second end 132 being used for threaded connection of the first terminal 130 to the second terminal 140. In this case, the nut is swaged onto the first terminal 130, and no additional nuts or other threaded connectors are required to install the first terminal 130.
In one embodiment of the present application, a protrusion 113 protruding outward is provided on the first outer wall 111 of the first housing 110, the first terminal 130 is inserted into the first housing 110 through the protrusion 113, and the protrusion 113 surrounds the first terminal 130. The protrusion 113 is manufactured in particular by injection molding around the first terminal 130, which may allow the first terminal 130 to be more firmly fixed to the first housing 110 and may reduce an electrical gap at the first terminal 130.
In one embodiment of the application, the first outer wall 111 is provided as a planar boss. The boss particularly rests against the device when the electrical connector 100 is electrically connected to the device. Screw holes are provided in particular on the boss so that the electrical connector 100 can be fixedly connected to the device by means of screws through the screw holes on the boss. An annular groove 114 surrounding the protrusion 113 is provided on the boss, and a first annular seal ring 115 is provided in the annular groove 114. The ring seal 115, when assembled, in particular, abuts against a mounting surface of the device, preventing dust or water or the like from entering between the electrical connector 100 and the device.
In one embodiment of the present application, a second ring seal 160 is provided at an end of the first housing 110 adjacent to the second housing 120, an outer ring of the second ring seal 160 being abutted against an inner wall of the first housing 110, and an inner ring being abutted against the wire harness 200 connected to the second end 142 of the second terminal 140. By the second ring seal 160, the gap between the wire harness 200 and the first housing 110 is filled and sealed, so that external dust and moisture are difficult to enter into the accommodation space 101 of the electrical connector 100 through the gap at the wire harness connection.
In one embodiment of the present application, a stopper (not shown in the drawings, for example, provided as an annular projection projecting inward from the first housing 110) is provided at one end of the first housing 110 near the second housing 120, a step 123 is provided on the second housing 120, and the second annular seal 160 is stopped at one end against the stopper and at the other end against the step 123. The stop and the step 123 are in particular both provided in the form of a ring. The second ring seal 160 can be fixed at a specific position in the housing by the stopper and the step 123, preventing it from sliding from the wire harness 200 by left and right play at the time of installation or use.
In one embodiment of the present application, a mounting hole 114 coaxially arranged with the screw hole on the second end 132 of the first terminal 130 is provided on the first housing 110 for mounting a bolt 150 connecting the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140. Thus, when the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 are arranged in place, the bolt 150 can be inserted into the receiving space 101 of the electrical connector 100 through the mounting hole 114 to screw the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 without connecting two terminals outside the electrical connector 100, and then arranged in the receiving space 101 of the electrical connector 100, thereby facilitating the assembly of the electrical connector 100 as a whole. A bolt plug 170 is installed in the installation hole 114, and a third ring seal 180 is provided between the bolt plug 170 and the first housing 110. The mounting hole 114 is sealed with a third annular seal 180 by a bolt bulkhead 170 to prevent dust and water from outside the electrical connector 100 from entering the electrical connector 100 through the mounting hole 114.
In the embodiment of fig. 2, it can be seen that the electrical connector assembly 1 comprises two electrical connectors 100 arranged side by side, which two electrical connectors 100 are connected to each other by a first outer wall 111, the first housings 110 of the two electrical connectors 100 being integrally provided, in particular by the first outer wall 111. The electrical connector assembly 1 may provide two second terminals for connecting two wire harnesses. It should be understood that in the embodiment not shown, the electrical connector assembly 1 may have only one electrical connector or include more than two electrical connectors, and the arrangement thereof may be adjusted according to the position of the device and the wire harness, which is also included in the scope of the present application.
In assembling the electrical connector 100 of the present application, the first end 131 of the first terminal 130 is fixedly connected to the device end by the rivet nut 133, the first ring-shaped seal 115 is mounted on the first outer wall 111 of the first housing 110, and the first outer wall 111 of the first housing 112 is mounted on the end face of the device end by bolts. The second o-ring 160 is then installed into the second housing 120 and the wire harness 200 is passed through the second housing 120 and the second o-ring 160 and connected to the second end 142 of the second terminal 140. Then, the second housing 120 is clamped to the first housing 110, at this time, the first end 141 of the second terminal 140 and the second end 132 of the first terminal 130 are also connected to each other, the bolt 150 is inserted into the accommodating space 101 through the mounting hole 114 on the first housing 110, the second end 132 of the first terminal 130 and the first end 141 of the second terminal 140 are connected through the bolt 150, and finally, the bolt plug 170 and the third ring seal 180 are mounted to the mounting hole 114 of the first housing 110, so as to seal the mounting hole 114.
An embodiment of the present application provides an electrical connector having few parts, a simple structure, low cost and good stability, which realizes stable connection between two terminals through a simple structure, simplifies assembly steps, and provides a plurality of sealing structures between a housing and a device, between the housing and the outside, and between the housing and a wire harness, thereby ensuring the sealing property between the electrical connector and the outside, and also realizing connection and sealing with a plurality of wire harnesses.
It should be understood that all of the above preferred embodiments are exemplary and not limiting, and that various modifications or variations of the above-described specific embodiments, which are within the spirit of the application, should be made by those skilled in the art within the legal scope of the application.
