Abstract

An electric cylinder of a novel structure which can be placed even in a narrow space where a conventional cylinder cannot rotate and which has a smaller longitudinal dimension than that of a conventional cylinder of the same stroke. The electric cylinder comprises an electric motor (1), a ball nut (4) connected to the electric motor (1) via a transmission element (3) and rotatably supported on a thrust bearing (5) disposed around the periphery thereof, and a ball screw (6) threadedly engaged with the ball nut (4) and having one end extended to the outside of the cylinder housing (2).
