具体实施方式
在本文中使用以下定义。“植物部分”是从完整植物分离的植物的一部分。对植物部分的“处理”表示使植物部分接触一种组合物。从完整植物除去有用的植物部分称为“收获”。“脂肪链”是具有等于或大于8个碳原子的烃链。包含一个或多个脂肪链的化合物是“脂肪”化合物。不包含任何脂肪链的化合物是“非脂肪”化合物。“烃链”是只包含碳原子和氢原子的一组共价结合的原子。“液体组合物”至少在15-40℃温度范围内是液体。如果一种物质以等于或大于1微米的孤立颗粒存在且这些颗粒分布在整个连续介质中,则称这种物质“分散”在该连续介质中。组合物中组分的“可忽略量”是以该组合物重量为基准计,该组分含量等于或小于0.05重量%。
在本文中,将“可铺展固体组合物”定义为具有以下性质的组合物:能作为层铺展在植物部分上,并且在不处于施涂过程的机械应力作用下的时候,至少在15-40℃温度范围内能保持机械稳定。即,当这种组合物的层位于表面之上并且除了重力不受任何机械力作用的时候,该层至少在15-40℃温度范围内能保持其形状5天或更长时间。一种可铺展固体组合物是可熔化固体,其在高于40℃的温度变成液体,该液体能铺展在植物部分上,随后冷却,变得机械稳定。另一种可铺展固体组合物是半固体组合物。
在本文中,将“半固体组合物”定义为至少在15-40℃温度范围内具有流动特性的组合物。这些组合物能用施涂器进行铺展,在不处于施涂过程的机械应力作用下的时候,能保持机械稳定。即,当这种组合物的层位于表面之上并且除了重力外不受任何机械力作用的时候,该层能保持其形状5天或更长时间。半固体涂料组合物的粘度在0.01秒-1时等于或大于10帕*秒(100泊)。当相同的组合物处于机械应力作用下的时候,例如刷涂,该组合物能流动并在表面上形成层。半固体涂料组合物的粘度在1000秒-1时等于或小于1帕*秒(10泊)。
本发明的方法包括处理植物部分。优选的植物部分是可食用的和不可食用的花、芽、花朵、种子、插条、根、球茎、果实、蔬菜、叶、及其组合。更优选的是可食用的植物部分;最优选的是果实和蔬菜。
适用于实施本发明的许多植物部分可以根据用途分类或分组。用于定义这些组的一种合适方法是“商品定义和分类(Definition and Classification ofCommodities)”,由联合国粮农组织(Food and Agriculture Organization(“FAO”)of theUnited Nations)作为“草案(Draft)”于2006年3月23日或之前发布。
作物1组是谷类。作物2组是根和块茎。作物3组是糖料作物。作物4组是豆类作物,包括例如豆和豌豆。作物5组是坚果。作物6组是油料作物,包括例如大豆、落花生、橄榄、和芸苔(canola)。
作物7组是蔬菜,包括卷心菜、朝鲜蓟、芦笋、莴苣、菠菜、木薯叶、西红柿、花椰菜、葫芦(包括南瓜、黄瓜和腌制用小黄瓜、南瓜(squash)、西瓜、哈密瓜、蜜瓜、和其他杂交甜瓜(mixed melon))茄子、辣椒和胡椒、青葱、干洋葱、大蒜、韭葱、其他葱蒜蔬菜、绿豆、嫩豌豆(green pea)、青蚕豆、菜豆、胡萝卜、黄秋葵、青玉米、蘑菇、竹笋、甜菜、食用甜菜(chard)、刺山柑、刺菜蓟、芹菜、细叶芹、水芹、茴香、辣根、牛至、婆罗门参、欧芹、欧防风、萝卜、大黄、芜菁甘蓝、香薄荷、鸦葱、掌叶大黄、豆瓣菜、和其他蔬菜。
作物8组是水果,包括例如香蕉和大蕉;柑橘类水果;梨果类水果;核果;浆果;葡萄;热带水果;杂果(miscellaneous fruit);和其他水果。梨果类水果包括例如苹果、梨、温悖(quince)、和其他梨果类水果。热带水果包括例如无花果、柿子、猕猴桃、芒果、鳄梨、菠萝、枣、腰果梨、番木瓜、面包果、杨桃(carambola)、番荔枝、榴莲、费约果(feijoa)、番石榴、槟榔(mombin)、木菠萝、龙眼、曼密苹果(mammee)、莽吉柿、娜兰希亚(naranjillo)、西番莲果、红毛丹、果榄(sapote)、人参果(sapodilla)、金星果(star apple)、和其他热带水果。
作物9组是纤维作物。作物10组是香料作物(spices)。作物11组是饲料作物。作物12组是提神类作物,包括例如咖啡和茶。作物13组是烟草和橡胶和其他作物。
优选的是作物7组和8组。在作物7组中,优选的是西红柿和葫芦;更优选的是西红柿、甜瓜、和黄瓜;更优选的是西红柿和甜瓜。在作物8组中,优选的是梨果和热带水果;更优选的是苹果、鳄梨、和番石榴;更优选的是鳄梨。
在本发明的实施中,在植物部分收获之后对其进行处理。
本发明的实施包括使用一种或多种蜡。如本文所用,蜡是一种脂肪化合物,其至少在15-40℃温度范围内为固体或半固体。各脂肪链可以是饱和的或不饱和的。除了一种或多种脂肪链以外,合适的蜡还可包括多种其他化学基团中的任何基团。优选的蜡选自烃、单酯、多酯、酮、醇、醛、酸、酸盐、固醇酯、萜烯、及其混合物。
烃蜡包括具有12-120个碳原子的烃。烃蜡中的烃分子可以是直链的、支链的、非芳族环状的、或其组合。烃蜡通常作为两种或更多种不同烃分子的混合物存在。烃蜡包括石油蜡,其从原油分离。石油蜡包括石蜡、微晶蜡、和矿脂。以石蜡重量为基准计,石蜡包含等于或大于60重量%的直链烃,石蜡中的大部分直链烃通常各自具有18-45个碳原子。微晶蜡的支链和环状烃比例大于石蜡。矿脂是一种与矿物油良好掺混的微晶蜡。烃蜡还包括聚乙烯蜡,其为数均分子量等于或小于20000的聚乙烯聚合物。烃蜡中优选的是石油蜡、聚乙烯、及其混合物。
单酯蜡包括只有一个酯基的任何蜡。优选的单酯蜡是脂肪酸与某种醇的酯,该醇选自脂肪醇、固醇、类萜、氢化类胡萝卜素、维生素A、及其混合物。优选的单酯蜡是脂肪酸与脂肪醇的酯。优选的单酯蜡是具有15-19个碳原子的烃链的脂肪酸与具有29-33个碳原子的烃链的脂肪醇的酯。
多酯蜡是每个分子中包含两个或更多个酯基的蜡。这些多酯蜡可以在例如一个羟基化的脂肪酸与酸和醇形成两个酯键的情况下形成。其他多酯蜡是在具有两个或更多个羟基的支链醇与两个或更多个羧酸形成两个或更多个酯键的情况下形成的。
脂肪酸蜡包括其烃链具有15-34个碳原子的脂肪酸。脂肪酸常见于两种或更多种不同脂肪酸的混合物中。脂肪酸还常见于与单酯蜡的混合物中。脂肪酸还包括脂肪酸的盐以及脂肪酸与碱性化合物如胺化合物的酸-碱络合物。优选的脂肪酸蜡包含一种或多种脂肪酸以及一种或多种胺化合物。更优选的脂肪酸蜡是吗啉油酸(morpholine oleate)。
醇蜡包括具有一个、两个或更多个羟基的醇。一些醇蜡的烃具有19-33个碳原子。酮蜡的每个分子中具有一个或更多个酮基。
一些生物方式生产的蜡包含两种或更多种蜡的混合物。生物方式生产的蜡包括直接从植物或动物获得的蜡,以及通过改变(例如氢化)从植物或动物获得的物质而生产的蜡。优选的生物方式生产的蜡是蜂蜡、虫蜡、紫胶蜡、鲸蜡、羊毛脂、巴西棕榈蜡、其他植物蜡、及其混合物。
优选的蜡是石油蜡、脂肪酸蜡、单酯蜡、聚乙烯蜡、及其混合物。

本发明的组合物优选包含至少一种分子包封剂。更优选有至少一种分子包封剂包封一种或多种环丙烯化合物,或者包封一种或多种环丙烯化合物中的一部分。在本文中,如果环丙烯化合物分子或一部分环丙烯化合物分子被包封在分子包封剂的分子之中,则将包含所述环丙烯化合物分子或所述一部分环丙烯化合物分子的络合物称为“环丙烯化合物络合物”。

分子包封剂的量通常由分子包封剂的摩尔数与环丙烯化合物的摩尔数的比例表征。优选分子包封剂的摩尔数与环丙烯化合物的摩尔数的比例等于或大于0.1;更优选等于或大于0.2;更优选等于或大于0.5;更优选等于或大于0.9;更优选等于或大于1.0。独立地,在一些这样的实施方式中,分子包封剂的摩尔数与环丙烯化合物的摩尔数的比例优选等于或小于10;更优选等于或小于5;更优选等于或小于2;更优选等于或小于1.5。

本发明的实施包括涂料组合物。涂料组合物是一种能以层的方式施涂在植物部分表面之上的组合物。该层可以是连续的或不连续的。优选该层在施涂于表面之后立刻测量的厚度为10微米至1毫米。
所述涂料组合物包含蜡以及一种或多种环丙烯化合物。可以用所有环丙烯化合物的总重量与所有蜡的总重量的比例(“CP/蜡比例”)进行表征。该比例的单位可以是“ppm”,用于表示相对于一百万重量份蜡的环丙烯重量份数。该比例的另一种可以使用的单位是“%”,用于表示相对于一百重量份蜡的环丙烯重量份数。优选涂料组合物的CP/蜡比例等于或大于0.2ppm;更优选等于或大于0.5ppm;更优选等于或大于1ppm。独立地,优选涂料组合物的CP/蜡比例等于或小于0.5%;或者等于或小于0.2%。
优选的涂料组合物是液体组合物或可铺展固体组合物。更优选是液体组合物或半固体组合物。
以组合物重量为基准计,优选的液体涂料组合物包含40-99重量%的连续液体介质。多种组分溶解或分散在连续液体介质中。优选的连续液体介质包含水;以连续液体介质的重量为基准计,更优选连续液体介质中的水量等于或大于50%;更优选等于或大于80%;更优选等于或大于95%。
在液体涂料组合物中,如果连续液体介质包含等于或大于50重量%的水,则优选一部分蜡或全部蜡分散在连续液体介质中。当蜡如此进行分散的时候,优选液体涂料组合物中包含一种或多种表面活性剂。

除了蜡和环丙烯化合物以外,涂料组合物可包含一种或多种任选组分。优选涂料组合物还包含一种或多种分子包封剂;更优选是包封一种或多种环丙烯化合物的分子包封剂。
涂料组合物可包含一种或多种任选的助剂。合适的助剂包括例如表面活性剂、油、螯合剂、及其混合物。合适的油包括矿物油。

可以通过任何方法将涂料组合物施涂于植物部分的表面。优选的方法是将植物部分浸渍在涂料组合物中;将涂料组合物喷涂到植物部分的表面上;使用施涂器将涂料组合物施涂到植物部分的表面上;及其组合方法。优选的施涂器是刷子、刀片、棒、织物、及其组合;更优选是刷子。
将涂料组合物施涂于植物部分的表面的优选方法如下所述:方法1,其中将植物部分浸渍在液体涂料组合物中,以及方法2,其中将半固体涂料组合物刷涂在植物部分的表面上。
应该理解,为了本发明实施例的目的,除非有另外的说明,否则,本文揭示的每一种操作都在25℃进行。

实施例1:鳄梨上的蜡涂层
Hass鳄梨为高级品,1级颜色(100%浅绿),从Oxnard,CA的商业种植场船运到Davis,CA的测试实验室。在到达日进行处理。
通过以下方式制备涂料组合物:加入EDTA(相对于一百万重量份水,为10重量份),然后是蜡乳液(如果使用的话),由制造商供应,混合5分钟。水与蜡乳液的比例如下所示:
样品1-1C是比较例(干对照,完全未浸渍)。样品1-2C是不含蜡、但是含粉末P2的水浸渍液,粉末P2的量使得相对于1升浸渍液产生300微克1-MCP。
要制备样品1-3、1-4、和1-5,将水与涂料试剂和与氨基酸盐混合,得到与1-2C中相同的氨基酸盐浓度。然后加入粉末P1,使得相对于1升浸渍液产生300微克1-MCP,将该组合物混合2分钟,然后使其静置5分钟。然后将鳄梨浸入浸渍液中,保持5分钟,在室温下放置在架子上进行干燥。将干燥的鳄梨放入21℃和65-75%RH的冷却器中。对照鳄梨没有进行浸渍,放入相同的温度和相对湿度的不同冷却器中。
3天之后,使用以下嗜好标度(hedonic scale)每天对水果颜色进行评级:1=100%绿色,2=75%绿色,3=50%绿色-紫色,和4=100%紫色。在第5天和第10天用水果组织分析仪(FTA)以8毫米探针测量水果紧实度(firmness)(牛顿和磅),该探针穿刺深度为5毫米。测量紧实度之前去皮,每只水果测量2次。
处理之后,根据手感紧实度和外观,每天记录成熟度。由这些观察结果计算达到成熟的天数。
评估鳄梨的颜色显现。样品1-3和1-5显现颜色的速度比干对照慢,但是比只浸渍在MCP中的样品快。样品1-4是所有样品中显现颜色最慢的。
评估鳄梨的紧实度。结果如下所示。与比较处理方式相比,所有的实施例处理方式都给出更好的紧实度。
还评估了鳄梨的达到成熟的天数。与比较例相比,所有实施例都具有相同或更长的达到成熟的天数。因此,实施例具有涂层益处,其延迟成熟的效果至少与1-2C一样好。
比较例2:无蜡质涂层
收获Tuscan甜瓜,在Cantua Creek,CA(加利福尼亚州Cantua河)中冷却,然后在第二天运输到Davis,CA的测试设备。到达的果肉温度为11-12℃。将该水果冷却过夜至5℃,然后在第二天进行品质评估和处理。处理之后,将该水果在5℃和80-90%RH储存8天,然后转移到室温储存8天,然后进行评价。
FreshsealTM涂料是一种水性涂料,据信包含非脂肪聚合物,来自巴斯孚(BASF)。

结果如下所示:
对于所测试的样品,在重量损失方面没有明显差别。在外部颜色、SDA、和紧实度方面,所有经过涂覆的样品都差于2-2C(该样品含有MCP,没有进行涂覆)。
实施例3:西红柿上的蜡涂层
用TriwaxTM涂料(TP机械公司(Tri-Pak Machinery,Inc.))涂覆西红柿。对于“MCP”样品,将粉末P3加入TriwaxTM涂料中,使得以涂料组合物的重量为基准计,给出0.09重量%的MCP。将该涂料组合物施涂于布,擦到西红柿上。
西红柿在室温下储存,测量色度。在这种色度测量中,高的数字表示颜色较绿(即,西红柿成熟度较低)。结果如下所示。与比较例相比,实施例处理(3-3)有利地延迟了成熟。
实施例4:西红柿和番石榴上的蜡质涂层
制备涂料组合物。存在蜡的时候,以涂料组合物的重量为基准计,其为3.6重量%的巴西棕榈蜡。存在MCP的时候,加入足量的P1,使得相对于1升给出30.7毫克MCP。对照组合物只是水。将涂料组合物缓慢混合1分钟。将水果浸入涂料组合物中30秒。处理方式如下所示:

处理之后,将水果在22℃和80%RH储存最多14天。
西红柿品种是Debora。对西红柿进行测试的时候,样品4-3C和4-4是同等的,它们与4-1和4-2相比,都显示出有利的延迟成熟效果。估计4-3C和4-4证明,由于存在蜡质涂层,所以能防止重量损失。因此,样品4-4具有蜡质涂层的益处,以及用1-MCP进行处理的益处,尽管该样品只进行了1次浸渍处理。
番石榴品种是Pedro Sato。处理方式和结果与西红柿相同。
实施例5:Hass鳄梨上的蜡质涂层
处理方式与实施例4中相同。使用评级标度(“0”表示100%绿色,和“5”表示100%黑色)对水果的外部颜色进行评价。观察黑色水果的百分比。观察外部腐烂(总数为40个,其中具有至少1处损伤的水果个数)。使用评级标度(“0”=无腐烂;“1”=轻度腐烂;“2”=中度腐烂;“3”=重度腐烂)对内部腐烂进行评价。每次处理使用40个水果。14天后的平均结果如下所示:
与所有其他样品相比,样品5-4显示出有利的延迟成熟效果。
Claims (9)
1.一种处理植物部分的方法,该方法包括通过向所述植物部分的表面施涂涂料组合物层,从而在所述植物部分的所述表面上形成涂层,其中所述涂料组合物包含:
(a)一种或多种蜡,和
(b)一种或多种环丙烯化合物。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述涂料组合物还包含一种或多种分子包封剂。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述环丙烯的一部分或全部被包封在分子包封剂中。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述环丙烯化合物与所述蜡的重量比为0.2ppm至0.2%。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述植物部分选自水果和蔬菜。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述植物部分选自苹果、鳄梨、西红柿、番石榴、和甜瓜。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述植物部分选自西红柿和鳄梨。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述蜡包含吗啉油酸、石油蜡、及其混合物。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,所述环丙烯包含1-甲基环丙烯。
