The Ethernet switch equipment in the invention comprises Ethernet switch, router and other equipment. A user can set port information required to execute an energy-saving strategy in the Ethernet switching equipment according to actual application requirements; if all ports in the Ethernet switching equipment are required to execute the energy-saving strategy, all the ports are set as the ports for executing the energy-saving strategy; if a part of ports in the Ethernet switching equipment are required to execute the energy-saving strategy, the part of ports are set as the ports for executing the energy-saving strategy.
The Ethernet switching equipment stores the set port information for executing the energy-saving strategy, and the stored port information for executing the energy-saving strategy can be modified according to actual needs, and operations such as adding and deleting the port information are executed.
It should be noted that, in the present invention, the user may control the ethernet switching device to execute the setting operation of the port information through the local serial port of the ethernet switching device, or the user may control the ethernet switching device to execute the setting operation of the port information through the remote computer.
The Ethernet switching equipment detects the link energy of a port executing the energy-saving strategy through a signal detection circuit, when no link energy exists on the port executing the energy-saving strategy, the port is adjusted to be in a low-power-consumption working state, the port in the low-power-consumption working state is only in a normal working state, and other circuits of the port enter into a low-power-consumption state; under the condition that a port executing the energy-saving strategy is in a low-power-consumption working state, if a signal detection circuit of the port detects link energy again, the Ethernet switching equipment restores the port from the low-power-consumption working state to a normal-power-consumption working state.
It should be noted that each port in the ethernet switching device has a function of detecting link energy, and can also independently perform adjustment of a low power consumption operating state and a normal power consumption operating state, and operations between the ports are not affected by each other.

According to actual needs, a user inputs port information needing to execute an energy-saving strategy on the Ethernet switching equipment, and the Ethernet switching equipment stores the port information input by the user, so that the setting of the port information is completed.
For example: the port of the Ethernet switching equipment comprises: if the set port information is port 4, the port 1, port 2 and port 3 cannot correspond to port 4 in all the port information of the ethernet switching device, which indicates that the set port 4 is out of range.
In step 406, the ethernet switching device turns on the power saving function of the selected port.
For example: and selecting the port 1 and the port 2 of the Ethernet switching equipment as the ports for executing the energy-saving strategy, and triggering the port 1 and the port 2 by the Ethernet switching equipment to start the energy-saving function.
In addition, the ethernet switching device can also display the set port information for executing the energy-saving strategy to the user through a human-computer interface by using an external management interface, so that the user can know the port information set by the ethernet switching device.
