具体实施方式
电子烟(吸烟器具)包括一个网状加热器元件,并且在一个优选的实施例中,加热器由围绕着与液体供应区连通的芯子所缠绕的电阻式式网状材料的条带构成。使用平面的金属带、例如网状材料作为加热器的材料提供了许多优势。所缠绕的带状提供了加大的加热器和芯子之间的接触面积,以便在加热器和芯子之间提供更为高效和均匀的热量传递。这样的设置可在等量的电能下相比于金属丝加热器(单个线圈)提供更大体积的烟雾。此外,带状电热件的尺寸可进行调整,以实现更高或更低的电阻式率来满足特定的电子烟的设计需求。使用带状材料,可以在不同的加热器之间对带状加热器的电阻式率进行更加一致性的控制。同样地,由于带状电热件的尺寸,也可以对带状加热器在芯子周围的缠绕进行更加一致性的控制。
优选地,带状加热器均匀地绕在芯子上,以便在带状加热器在芯子上的绕组之间有均等的间距。尺寸和带状加热器与芯子间的接触面积能够确保保持其均匀的间隔,从而确保对芯子的均匀加热。

此外,如图1、4、10和11所示,加热器14沿横向于纵向的方向延伸,并将液体材料加热到一定温度使其足以蒸发并形成烟雾。在另一些实施例中,还可以构思出加热器14的其它定向,例如如图12所示,加热器14在内管62内纵向地设置。通过纵向地设置加热器14,加热器14的表面处于内管内,并且相比于加热器14横向于纵向的方向延伸至外部环状区域的设置而言可以产生更大量的烟雾。同样优选地,如图所示,加热器14设置在内管62内的中心。然而在其他的一些实施例中,加热器14可设置为与内管62的内表面相邻。
现在来看图1,芯子28、液体供应区22和嘴端插入件8均容纳在第一部分70内,而电源1容纳在第二部分72内。在一个实施例中,第一部分(烟弹)70可以是一次性的,而第二部分(夹持件)72可重复使用。第一部分70和第二部分72通过螺纹连接部205连接在一起,使得当液体供应区22用尽后可替换第一部分70。第一部分70和第二部分72分开设置具有许多优点。首先,如果第一部分70包含至少一个加热器14、液体供应区22和芯子28,那么当第一部分70被替换时,所有可能与液体接触的部件都被丢弃。因此,例如在使用不同的液体材料时,不同的第一部分70之间不会存在交叉污染。并且,如果在合适的时间间隔内替换第一部分70,加热器被液体堵塞的可能性很小。此外,液体供应区22内液体的量也可选择,以便在电池的满电量耗尽时液体供应区22也排空。因此,第一部分70可被任意一种电源替代。可选地,第一部分70和第二部分72设置为在相互接合时可释放地锁在一起。
在该优选的实施例中,至少一个进气口44包括一个或两个进气口。备选地,可以有3个、4个、5个或者更多个进气口。优选地,如果有超过一个进气孔,则进气口沿着电子烟60分布在不同的位置处。例如,如图4和图5所示,进气口44a可设置在香烟的与喷烟传感器16相邻的上游端处,使得喷烟传感器16在探测到吸烟者的喷烟后为加热器提供能量。进气口44a应当与嘴端插入件8连通,使得对电子烟的抽吸可激活喷烟传感器。来自进气口44a的空气可沿电源流动到垫圈15内的中心气道20,和/或流动到内管62和/或外管6的其他部分中。至少一个额外的进气口44可设置于垫圈15的上游端并与之相邻,或者设置于任何其他合适的位置处。改变进气口44的尺寸和数量对建立电子烟60的抽吸阻力而言有所帮助。
在一个优选的实施例中,加热器14设置为与芯子28相连,用于加热芯子28内的液体材料以达到足以蒸发液体材料并形成烟雾的温度。
优选地,加热器14优选为围绕芯子28缠绕的网状金属丝带。适合的电阻式材料例子包括钛、锆、钽和铂族金属。适合的金属合金例子包括不锈钢,含有镍、钴、铬、铝、钛、锆、铪、铌、钼、钽、钨、锡、镓、锰和铁的合金,以及基于镍、铁、钴、不锈钢的超级合金。例如,加热器可以由铝化镍、表面上涂有氧化铝的材料、铝化铁以及其他复合材料形成,并且依据能量传递动力学及所需外部的物理化学性质,可选择地在电阻式性材料中嵌入、封装或涂覆绝缘性材料(或反之)。优选地,加热器14包括至少一种选自包括不锈钢、铜、铜合金、镍铬合金、超级合金和其组合的群组内的材料。在一个优选的实施例中,加热器14可由镍铬合金或铁铬合金形成。
在另一个实施例中,加热器14可由铁铝化合物(如FeAl或Fe3Al)构成,例如在美国于1994年12月29日公布的授予Sikka等人的共有美国专利5595706中所记载的那些,或由镍铝化合物(如Ni3Al)构成。铁铝化合物的使用优势在于它们具有高电阻式率。FeAl的电阻式率可达大约180微欧,而不锈钢的电阻式率大约为50-91微欧。高电阻式率可降低电流消耗或负载电源(电池)1的功率。
在一个优选的实施例中,网状材料加热器14由导热和/或导电材料形成。形成网状材料的适当材料可从由不锈钢、铜、铜合金、可从Special Metals公司得到的(它是一种镍铬合金)、(它也是一种镍铬合金)及其组合所组成的组中选择。此外,在一个优选的实施例中,网状材料加热器14可由一种不含铁的镍铬合金形成。
在一个优选的实施例中,加热器14包括至少部分地围绕着芯子28的网状金属带。在该实施例中,加热器可优选地沿芯子28的整个长度或仅沿芯子的一部分长度延伸。
在另一个实施例中,如图8-11所示,加热器14可由平面的金属带、例如缠绕在芯子28上的导电网状材料形成。优选地,网状材料围绕着芯子28的一部分完全地缠绕至少一圈,但优选是缠绕预定的圈数(如2-10圈或2-6圈)。在该优选的实施例中,网状加热器14围绕芯子28缠绕约四圈。优选地,网状材料初始为细长的平面带,其缠绕在芯子28上以增加加热器14和芯子28之间的接触面积。
在一个优选的实施例中,如图8、9、10、11所示,杆状的或焊接的导电连接区域99由焊接在加热器14的各端部上的低电阻式材料形成。通过在加热器14的各端部处焊接柱杆99或形成焊接的连接区域99,电流可以在网状加热器14的长度和宽度上均匀地流过,以避免产生过热点。例如,柱杆或焊接连接区域99可由镀金的线构成。柱杆或焊接连接区域99可如图10所示地完全包含在外部环状空间内,使得网状加热器14延伸至外部环状空间内。备选地,如图11所示,网状加热器14也可完全包含在内管62内,并且柱杆或焊接连接区域99也包含在内管内,使得在内管62里形成了电连接。电导线26与各个柱杆或焊接连接区域99相连,这样当电源提供电压时在电导线26之间就形成了加热区,以便加热与网状材料接触的液体材料到足够的温度以使液体至少部分地被蒸发。备选地,电导线26可直接与网状加热器14相连。

在一个优选的实施例中,网状材料的带的尺寸可从200目到600目。在该优选的实施例中,网状材料大约为400目,并包括形成了网状材料的线之间的小孔/间隙13。优选地,网状材料由0.001英寸或更大直径的线构成,例如可以是从美国印第安纳州Logansport的Smallparts公司购买的线。还优选地,具有这一目数的芯子由直径约0.0014英寸到约0.0016英寸的实心线构成。

有利地,网状材料提供了一个针对例如电子烟的应用的可行的电阻式率范围。此外,网状材料加热器14的使用允许通过加热器本身来释放烟雾。另外,网状材料加热器14可以增强来自芯子28的液体的汽化。
在该优选的实施例中,芯子28包括一个或多个细丝。如上所述,芯子28至少部分被加热器14环绕。此外,在该优选的实施例中,芯子28延伸穿过内管62内的相对的开口,从而保证芯子28的每个端部29,31均与液体供应区22相接触。

还优选地,液体材料具有适宜用于电子烟60的沸点。如果沸点过高,则加热器14不能够蒸发芯子28中的液体。然而如果沸点太低,液体会在加热器14未激活的情况下就被蒸发。
优选地,液体材料包括有含烟草的材料,其中含有在加热时可以从液体中释放的可挥发的烟草香料混合物。液体也可以是含有烟草香料的材料,或者含有尼古丁的材料。作为替代或附加,液体可以包括非烟草材料和/或非尼古丁材料。例如,液体可以包括水、溶剂、乙醇、植物提取物,以及天然或人造香料。优选地,液体材料还包括烟雾形成剂。合适的烟雾形成剂的例子有丙二醇和丙三醇。
在使用中,液体材料通过芯子28的毛细作用从加热器14附近的液体供应区域22和/或液体存储介质210中被抽出。在一个实施例中,如图1所示,芯子28具有第一端部29和第二端部31。第一端部29和第二端部31分别伸入到液体存储介质21的相对两侧,以便和包含于其中的液体材料相接触。还优选地,加热器14至少部分地包围住芯子28的中心区域,以便当激活加热器时可以由加热器14来蒸发芯子28的中心区域中的液体,从而蒸发液体材料并形成烟雾。
该实施例的好处在于,液体供应区域22中的液体材料可被保护以防止氧气(因为氧气通常不会通过芯子28进入液体供应区域22),并且在一些实施例中,液体材料被保护以防止光照,从而大大降低了液体材料降解的风险。因此,可以维持高水平的存储寿命以及清洁度。
如图1-3所示,嘴端插入件8包括至少两个分散的出口24(例如3,4,5,或优选6到8个出口或更多)。优选地,嘴端插入件8的出口24位于离轴通道80(如图3所示)的端部处,并且与电子烟60的纵轴方向呈一向外的角度(即分散的)。在这里使用的术语“离轴”表示与电子烟的纵轴方向呈一角度。还优选地,嘴端插入件(或导流件)8包括围绕着嘴端插入件8均匀地分布的出口,以便在使用时在吸烟者口中形成基本上均匀的烟雾。因此,随着烟雾进入吸烟者的口中,烟雾进入口中并沿不同的方向运动,因此相比于具有一个同轴的孔(其将烟雾引导到吸烟者的口中的一个位置)的电子烟,能提供更饱满的口感。
另外,出口24和离轴通道80设置成使得烟雾中夹带的未雾化液体材料的液滴冲击嘴端插入件8的内表面81和/或离轴通道的内表面,以便去除或打散液滴。在该优选的实施例中,嘴端插入件的出口位于离轴通道的末端,并与外管6的中心轴线呈5到60度,以便在使用时使烟雾能够更充分地分布在吸烟者的口中并去除液滴。
优选地,每个出口的直径范围为约0.015英寸至约0.090英寸(例如,约0.020英寸至约0.040英寸,或约0.028英寸至约0.038英寸)。在一个实施例中,若需要的话,可以选择出口8和离轴通道80的尺寸以及出口的数量,以便调整电子烟60的抽吸阻力(RTD)。
如图1所示,嘴端插入件8的内表面81可以包含大致半球形的表面。可替换地,如图3所示,嘴端插入件8的内表面81'可以是大致圆柱形或者截头圆锥形,其带有平面的端面。优选地,内表面在其表面上是大体均匀的,或者内表面可沿着嘴端插入件8的纵向轴线对称。但是,在另一些实施例中,内表面可以是不规则的和/或具有其他形状。
优选地,嘴端插入件8可以整体附着于第一部分70的外管6内部。而且,嘴端插入件8可以由选自含有低密度聚乙烯、高密度聚乙烯、聚丙烯、聚氯乙烯、聚醚醚酮(PEEK)以及它们的组合物的组中的聚合物构成。如果需要,可以给嘴端插入件8上色。
在一个优选的实施例中,电子烟60具有与传统的香烟大约相同的尺寸。在一些实施例中,电子烟可约80mm到约110mm长,优选约80mm到约100mm长和直径约7mm到约8mm。例如,在一个优选的实施例中,电子烟约84mm长,并且直径约7.8mm。
在一个实施例中,电子烟60还包括加热器14上游端的过滤部件(未示出),其可操作以限制气体在电子烟60内的流动。增设的过滤部件对调整抽吸阻力有所帮助。
外管6和/或内管62可以由任何适用的材料或其组合构成。适用材料的例子包括金属、合金、塑料,或者含有一种或多种上述材料的复合材料,或者可用于食物或医药应用的塑料,例如聚丙烯、聚醚醚酮(PEEK)、陶瓷和聚乙烯。优选地,材料轻且不易碎。
如图4所示,电子烟60还可以包括可移除和/或可旋转地位于电子烟60的第一部分70周围的套筒组件87。此外,该套筒组件87将第一部分70的至少一部分隔热,以便在传递给吸烟者之前保持喷烟的温度。在该优选实施例中,套筒组件87可以围绕电子烟60旋转,且包括在套筒组件上横向分布的间隔开的槽88,从而使槽88和第一部分70上的进气口44对齐,以便当吸烟者吸入喷烟时允许空气进入电子烟60。在吸烟前或吸烟时,吸烟者可旋转套筒组件87,以便进气口44至少部分被套筒组件87堵住,以调节电子烟60的抽吸阻力和/或通风状况。
优选地,套筒组件87由硅胶或其他柔软的材料制成,以给吸烟者提供柔软的口感。此外,套筒组件81可防止外管6过热而导致吸烟者嘴部被烫伤。但是,套筒组件87可由一个或多个部分构成,并可以由多种材料(包括塑料、金属和它们的组合)构成。在一个优选实施例中,套筒组件87是硅胶制成的单件体。套筒组件87可以被拆掉且再次用于其他的电子烟,或者和第一部分70一同丢弃。套筒组件87可以是任意颜色,和/或包括图形或其他标记。
如图5所示,电子烟60还可以包括位于第一部分70和第二部分72中的至少一个的外表面91上的香味带89。可替换地,香味带89可以位于套筒组件87的一部分上。优选地,香味带89位于装置的电池和加热器之间,以便在吸烟过程中使香味带89临近于吸烟者的鼻子。香味带89可包括含有在吸烟之前和/或期间释放出的香味料的芳香凝胶、薄膜或溶液。在一个实施例中,当放置在第一部分70(未显示)中时,芳香凝胶、薄膜或溶液中的香味料可以通过喷烟的动作而释放出,这一动作可打开香味带上的孔。可替换地,加热器14产生的热量可以引起香味料释放。
在一个实施例中,香味带89可以包括烟草香味提取物。这样的提取物可通过将烟草材料研磨成小片并用有机溶剂提取且振动混合物几个小时得到。然后该提取物可被过滤、干燥(例如用硫酸钠),并在可控的温度和压力下浓缩。可替换地,该提取物可以用在香料化学领域中已知的技术得到,如溶剂辅助萃取香料(SAFE)蒸馏技术(恩格尔等人,1999),其允许挥发性组分从非挥发性组分中分离。此外,pH值分馏和层析方法可用于进一步分离和/或隔离特定的化合物。该提取物的浓度可以通过用有机溶剂或水进行稀释来调整。
香味带89可以是能够通过例如使用刷子或浸渍的方式来施加提取物的聚合物或纸带。可替换地,提取物可以被封装在纸环和/或纸带中,并且由吸烟者手动地释放,例如通过在吸烟过程中推挤香味带89的方式来释放香味。
如图6和图7所示,在一个可选的实施例中,图1、4、9和12的电子烟可包括含有固定件27和旋转件25的嘴端插入件8。出口24,24'位于每个固定件27和旋转件25中。出口24,24'如图所示地设置,以允许烟雾进入吸烟者的口中。然而,旋转件25可在嘴端插入件8内旋转,以便至少部分地锁住嘴端插入件8的固定件27上的一个或多个出口24。因此,消费者可调整各次喷烟所抽吸的烟雾量。出口24,24'可形成在嘴端插入件8内,使得出气口24,24'散开以提供吸烟时口腔内饱满的口感。
以上内容提供了电子烟60的例子。更多电子烟的细节可见于2013年1月31日提交的美国非临时申请13/756,127中,其全部内容通过引用结合于本文中。
不希望被理论所约束,可以认为施加在网状加热器上的电压可改变烟雾的粒度分布。
本文的内容可应用在电子烟和其他的吸烟器具上。引用“电子烟”的目的在于其包括电子雪茄、电子烟和同类产品。
在本文中,当用语“约”与一个数值连用时,其意指相关的数值包括有在该既定数值的周围的±10%的公差。而且,当在本说明书中提及到百分比时,其意指这些百分数是基于重量的,即重量百分比。
而且,当用语“大致”和“基本上”和几何形状连用时,其意指并不要求几何形状的精密度,但其形状的界限是在所披露的范围之内。当使用几何术语时,“大致”和“基本上”意欲不仅包括符合严格规定的特征,还包括相当地接近此严格规定的特征。
现在可以清楚,在本说明书中描述了一种新的、改进的、非显而易见的电子烟,其中披露了足够的细节以能够被本领域的普通技术人员所理解。而且,对于本领域的技术人员来说显然的是,对于电子烟的特征来说存在有未实质性偏离本发明的精神和范围的许多修改、变化、替代物和等效物。因此,可以明确地表示,所有这些落入所附权利要求所限定的本发明的精神和范围内的修改、变化、替代物和等效物都包含在所附权利要求书内。

Claims (20)

1.一种电子烟,具有包括缠绕在丝状芯子上的电阻式网状材料的条带的加热器,所述芯子与包含有液体材料的液体供应区相连通,所述加热器能够操作用于蒸发液体材料以产生烟雾。
2.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料包括从由不锈钢、铜、铜合金、涂有薄膜电阻式材料的陶瓷材料和镍铬合金构成的组中选出的至少一种材料和它们的组合,并且导电网状材料具有管状的形状且和芯子接触。
3.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料为约200到约600目。
4.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料为约400目。
5.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料由直径大于约0.001英寸的芯子构成。
6.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料缠绕芯子约1到约10圈。
7.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述网状材料在未缠绕的状态下为长条状和平面状。
8.如权利要求1所述的电子烟,其特征在于,所述加热器的长度范围为约10mm到约15mm,并且宽度范围为约0.5mm到约2.0mm。
9.一种改善电子烟内的烟雾形成的方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:
向丝状芯子提供液体材料,所述芯子至少部分地被由网状材料所形成的加热器包围;以及
加热所述网状材料,以蒸发包含在所述芯子内的液体材料并形成烟雾。
10.一种改善电子烟的烟雾形成的方法,包括:
当丝状芯子与液体供应区连通时,围绕着所述丝状芯子建立电阻式网状材料的条带。
11.一种电子吸烟器具,具有包括缠绕在丝状芯子上的电阻式网状材料的条带的加热器,所述芯子与包含有液体材料的液体供应区的液体材料相连通,所述加热器能够操作用于蒸发液体材料以产生烟雾。
12.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料包括从由不锈钢、铜、铜合金、涂有薄膜电阻式材料的陶瓷材料和镍铬合金构成的组中选出的至少一种材料和它们的组合,并且所述导电网状材料具有管状的形状且和所述芯子接触。
13.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料为约200到约600目。
14.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料为约400目。
15.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料由直径大于约0.001英寸的芯子构成。
16.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料缠绕芯子约1到约10圈。
17.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述网状材料在未缠绕的状态下为长条状和平面状。
18.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述加热器的长度范围为约10mm到约15mm,并且宽度范围为约0.5mm到约2.0mm。
19.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述网状材料的电阻范围为约0.3欧姆到约10欧姆。
20.如权利要求11所述的电子吸烟器具,其特征在于,所述电阻式网状材料的条带包括横跨过条带宽度的导电连接区域。
