Abstract

本发明的图像形成系统和图像形成装置中，图像形成装置(1)根据从其输入装置输入的用户终端装置(3)特有的识别码在网络(2)上检索该用户终端装置(3)，并向所发现的用户终端装置(3)发送该图像形成装置(1)的设备信息；另一方面，用户终端装置(3)将该用户终端装置(3)特有的识别码显示在显示装置(32)中，并接收从被输入了其识别码的图像形成装置(1)发送来的设备信息，并根据所接收的设备信息安装驱动程序。

技术领域
本发明涉及图像形成系统和图像形成装置。
背景技术
在某一系统(第一系统)中，通过预先将网络设置信息存储在USB(Universal Serial Bus、通用串行总线)存储器内，并将该USB存储器连接到设备上并读出该网络设置信息，从而进行网络设置。
在另一系统(第二系统)中，用户终端装置经由网络从设备获取设备信息，然后安装该设备的驱动程序。
但是，在第一系统的情况下，由于必须预先将网络设置信息存储到USB存储器内，因而要求用户具有网络相关知识。另外，在第二系统的情况下，必须预先在用户终端装置安装网络以能够与设备进行网络通信，从而要求用户具有网络相关知识。
进而，虽然也可以由用户终端装置检索网络上存在的设备，并从发现的设备中选择用户所希望的设备，然后安装所选择的设备的驱动程序，但是，由于被发现的设备通常是通过其MAC(Media Access Control、媒体访问控制)地址或IP(Internet Protocol、互联网协议)地址进行确定，因此，缺乏网络知识的用户很难根据MAC地址或IP地址选择所希望的设备。
发明内容
本发明涉及的图像形成系统具备与网络连接的图像形成装置、和与所述网络连接并安装有所述图像形成装置的驱动程序的用户终端装置。所述图像形成装置具有：输入装置，其用于受理用户输入所述用户终端装置特有的识别码的操作；和设备信息发送部，其根据从所述输入装置输入的所述用户终端装置特有的识别码在所述网络上检索该用户终端装置，并向所发现的所述用户终端装置发送该图像形成装置的设备信息。所述用户终端装置具有：显示装置；识别码管理部，其将该用户终端装置特有的识别码显示在所述显示装置中；设备信息获取部，其接收从被输入了所述识别码的所述图像形成装置发送来的所述设备信息；以及驱动安装部，其根据所接收的所述设备信息安装所述驱动程序。
本发明涉及的图像形成装置具有输入装置和设备信息发送部，其中，所述输入装置用于受理用户输入用户终端装置特有的识别码的操作，所述设备信息发送部根据从所述输入装置输入的、安装有该图像形成装置的驱动程序的所述用户终端装置特有的识别码在所述网络上检索该用户终端装置，并向所发现的所述用户终端装置发送该图像形成装置的设备信息。
(发明效果)
根据本发明，即使是缺乏网络知识的用户也能够在用户终端装置中安装其所希望的图像形成装置的驱动程序。

具体实施方式
以下，根据附图对本发明的实施方式进行说明。
图1是表示本发明实施方式涉及的图像形成系统的结构框图。在图1所示的系统中，多台图像形成装置1与网络2连接，在该网络2上还连接有多台用户终端装置3。图像形成装置1是复合机(MFP：Multi FunctionPeripheral)，但也可以是打印机等具有印刷功能的其它装置。网络2是公司内部LAN(Local Area Network)等的局域网。用户终端装置3是安装有图像形成装置1用的驱动程序的个人计算机等。
在此，对于图像形成装置1和用户终端装置3的结构进行说明。
图2是表示图1中的图像形成装置1的结构框图。如图2所示，各图像形成装置1具有印刷装置11、传真装置12、图像读取装置13、操作面板14、通信装置15以及控制器16。
印刷装置11是根据印刷图像数据并以电子照片方式将图像一页一页地印刷到印刷用纸上的内部装置。
传真装置12是通过调制解调器并经由公用电话线路等以传真信号的形式接收或发送图像的内部装置。
图像读取装置13是从原稿读取原稿图像并生成其图像数据的内部装置。
操作面板14配置在图像形成装置1的框体表面上，其具有向用户显示各种信息的显示装置14a、和受理用户操作的输入装置14b。显示装置14a例如使用液晶显示器。输入装置14b使用按键开关、触摸面板等。
通信装置15是与网络2连接并且与连接在该网络2中的其它装置(用户终端装置3等)进行数据通信的电路。通信装置15例如使用网络接口。
另外，控制器16具有CPU(Central Processing Unit、中央处理器)、ROM(Read Only Memory、只读存储器)以及RAM(Random Access Memory、随机存取存储器)等，并且，通过将程序从ROM等加载到RAM中并由CPU执行该程序，从而实现各种处理部。在该实施方式中，在控制器16中能够实现设备信息发送部21。
设备信息发送部21利用通信装置15，并根据从输入装置14b输入的用户终端装置3特有的识别码在网络2上检索该用户终端装置3，并向所发现的用户终端装置3发送该图像形成装置1的设备信息。
图3是表示图1中的用户终端装置3的结构框图。用户终端装置3例如是安装有操作系统、应用程序等且具有网络通信功能的个人计算机。各用户终端装置3具备通信装置31、显示装置32、输入装置33、存储装置34以及运算处理装置35。
通信装置31是与网络2连接，并经由网络2与其它装置(图像形成装置1等)以规定的通信协议进行数据通信的装置。通信装置31使用网络接口、调制解调器等。显示装置32是液晶显示器等的装置，其用于向用户终端装置3的用户显示各种画面。输入装置33是按键开关、鼠标等的装置，其用于检测用户所执行的用户操作。
另外，存储装置34是能够存储各种数据或程序的装置。存储装置34使用非易失性存储器、硬盘驱动器等的非易失性大容量存储介质。存储装置34中存储有被安装的驱动程序(driver program)41和安装程序(setupprogram)42。
另外，运算处理装置35具备具有CPU、ROM、RAM等的计算机，并且，通过将程序从存储装置34、ROM等加载到RAM中并由CPU执行该程序，从而实现各种处理部。
在用户终端装置3启动之后，通过运算处理装置35适当地执行各种程序。在该实施方式中，通过运算处理装置35能够实现未图示的操作系统、通信处理部51等的处理部，并且，通过执行安装程序42能够实现安装处理部52。
驱动程序41的执行是在从通过应用生成的原稿数据来生成PDL(页面描述语言)数据等的印刷数据，并向规定的图像形成装置1发送时执行的。
安装处理部52具有识别码管理部61、设备信息获取部62以及驱动安装部63。
识别码管理部61生成该用户终端装置3特有的识别码并将其显示在显示装置32中，并且，在以该识别码作为检索关键字在网络2上执行广播检索(broadcast search)时，识别码管理部61发送表示该识别码是其自己所发行的识别码的回答。
设备信息获取部62利用通信装置31接收从输入了该识别码的图像形成装置1发送来的设备信息。
驱动安装部63根据设备信息获取部62所接收的设备信息来安装驱动程序41。具体而言，驱动安装部63根据设备信息获取部62所接收的设备信息，更新驱动程序41的设置数据的值(成为驱动程序41的控制对象的图像形成装置的网络标识符、机型等)。
接着，对于上述系统中的用户终端装置3中的驱动程序41的安装处理进行说明。图4是对图1所示系统中的用户终端装置3中的驱动程序41的安装处理进行说明的时序图。
首先，运算处理装置35根据用户在输入装置33中所执行的操作而执行安装程序42，并将安装处理部52的动作模式切换为连接等待模式(步骤S1)。
在将安装处理部52的动作模式切换为连接等待模式后，识别码管理部61生成该用户终端装置3特有的识别码并将其显示在显示装置32中(步骤S2)。然后，设备信息获取部62等待从图像形成装置1发送来设备信息。另外，该识别码可以是用户终端装置3的序列号，也可以是通信装置31的MAC(媒体访问控制)地址，还可以是从上述特有信息中导出的唯一性的代码。
图5是表示显示在图1中的用户终端装置3中的识别码的一例的图。如图5所示，识别码与表示处于连接等待中的信息一同以文本形式显示在窗口中。
操作用户终端装置3的用户将显示在显示装置32中的识别码加以存储或者记录到笔记中，并前往所希望的图像形成装置1的设置位置。然后，用户操作该图像形成装置1的输入装置14b而使识别码的输入画面显示在显示装置14a中。
设备信息发送部21根据该用户操作使识别码的输入画面显示在显示装置14a中。
图6是表示显示在图1中的图像形成装置1中的识别码的输入画面的一例的图。
用户通过输入装置14b在该识别码的输入画面中的输入框(input field)中输入已存储或者记录在笔记中的识别码。
设备信息发送部21以输入的识别码作为检索关键字，并通过通信装置15在网络2上进行广播检索(步骤S4)。广播检索按照已知的规定通信协议进行。
处于连接等待模式的用户终端装置3的识别码管理部61在接收到广播检索的信息后，判断作为检索关键字的识别码是否是该用户终端装置3的识别码，并且在该作为检索关键字的识别码是该用户终端装置3的识别码时发送回答。
图像形成装置1的设备信息发送部21在接收到该回答后，确定作为该回答的发送源的用户终端装置3的网络标识符(IP地址等)，并将该网络标识符作为接收地址发送该图像形成装置1的设备信息(机型、可使用的通信协议等)(步骤S5)。
该用户终端装置3的设备信息获取部62在连接等待模式下接收该设备信息，并且，驱动安装部63根据该设备信息安装驱动程序41(步骤S6)。
由此，用户能够通过该用户终端装置3而利用被其输入了识别码的图像形成装置1。即，该用户终端装置3内的应用等能够通过驱动程序41在该图像形成装置1中执行印刷等。
由于在用户将识别码输入图像形成装置1中之后，在用户终端装置3中是自动地执行上述驱动程序41的安装处理的，因此，用户无需返回用户终端装置3的设置位置，可以直接前往另一个图像形成装置1的设置位置，并且同样，在该另一个图像形成装置1中输入识别码，而在用户终端装置3中自动地执行上述驱动程序41的安装处理(步骤S11～S14)。由此，能够利用一个识别码自动地执行多台图像形成装置的驱动程序41的安装处理。
如上所述，在上述实施方式中，图像形成装置1根据通过输入装置14b输入的用户终端装置3特有的识别码在网络2上检索该用户终端装置3，并向所发现的用户终端装置3发送该图像形成装置1的设备信息。另一方面，用户终端装置3将该用户终端装置3特有的识别码显示在显示装置32中，并接收从输入了其识别码的图像形成装置1发送来的设备信息，并且根据接收到的设备信息安装驱动程序41。
由此，用户只要将显示在用户终端装置3中的识别码输入其所希望的图像形成装置1中即可，因此，即使是缺乏网络知识的用户也能够安装其所希望的图像形成装置1的驱动程序。
另外，上述实施方式是本发明的适宜的例子，但本发明并不限定于此，在不脱离本发明的主旨的范围内能够进行各种变形、变更。

本发明例如能够适用于连接有多台图像形成装置和用户终端装置的网络系统中。

1.一种图像形成系统，其特征在于，
所述图像形成系统具备与网络连接的图像形成装置、和与所述网络连接并安装有所述图像形成装置的驱动程序的用户终端装置，
所述图像形成装置具有：
输入装置，其用于受理用户输入所述用户终端装置特有的识别码的操作，和
设备信息发送部，其根据从所述输入装置输入的所述用户终端装置特有的识别码在所述网络上检索该用户终端装置，并向所发现的所述用户终端装置发送该图像形成装置的设备信息；
所述用户终端装置具有：
显示装置，
识别码管理部，其将该用户终端装置特有的识别码显示在所述显示装置中，
设备信息获取部，其接收从被输入了所述识别码的所述图像形成装置发送来的所述设备信息，以及
驱动安装部，其根据所接收的所述设备信息安装所述驱动程序。
2.如权利要求1所述的图像形成系统，其特征在于，
所述图像形成系统具备包括所述图像形成装置在内的多台图像形成装置，
所述多台图像形成装置分别具有所述输入装置和所述设备信息发送部，
所述设备信息获取部接收从被输入了所述识别码的所述多台图像形成装置发送来的设备信息，
所述驱动安装部根据所接收的所述设备信息分别安装所述多台图像形成装置各自的驱动程序。
3.如权利要求1所述的图像形成系统，其特征在于，
所述识别码管理部在切换为连接等待模式后自动地将所述识别码显示在所述显示装置中，
所述设备信息获取部在所述连接等待模式下进行等待直到从所述图像形成装置发送来所述设备信息，
所述驱动安装部在所述连接等待模式下根据所接收的所述设备信息而安装所述驱动程序。
4.一种图像形成装置，其与网络连接，所述图像形成装置的特征在于，具有输入装置和设备信息发送部，其中，所述输入装置用于受理用户输入用户终端装置特有的识别码的操作，所述设备信息发送部根据从所述输入装置输入的、安装有该图像形成装置的驱动程序的所述用户终端装置特有的识别码在所述网络上检索该用户终端装置，并向所发现的所述用户终端装置发送该图像形成装置的设备信息。
