特定实施例提供了一种多媒体回放设备，包括：无线通信接口，用于与本地回放网络和多媒体内容源通信；以及处理器。所述处理器用于识别来自多媒体内容源的多媒体内容，响应于触发向本地回放网络上的设备传送与多媒体内容有关的信息，以及促使经由与本地回放网络上的设备来播放多媒体内容。
II.示例环境
现在参考附图，其中贯穿附图相似的数字可以表示相似的部分，图1示出了示例系统配置100，在所述示例系统配置100中可以实现本文公开的方法和/或装置中的一个或多个。作为示例，系统配置100表示具有多个区域的家庭。例如每个区域表示不同的房间或空间，如，办公室、浴室、卧室、厨房、餐厅、家庭活动室、家庭影院室、杂物间或洗衣房以及庭院。虽然这里未示出，然而单个区域可以覆盖多于一个的房间或空间。在每个相应的区域内示出了区域播放器102-124中的一个或多个。区域播放器102-124也被称作回放设备、多媒体单元、扬声器等，提供音频、视频和/或视听输出。控制器130(例如，为了说明目的在厨房中示出的)提供对系统配置100的控制。系统配置100示出了示例性的整个家庭音频系统，通过所述系统可以理解这里所述的技术不限于具体应用位置或如图1的整个家庭音频系统100这样的昂贵系统。

图2B的示例区域播放器202包括内置放大器(该图未示出)以便对分离的扬声器210的集合进行供电。例如，图2B的扬声器210可以包括任何类型的扩音器。图2B的区域播放器202通过有线和/或无线声道向分离的扬声器210传送与音频内容相对应的信号。代替如图2A所示接收并生成音频内容，图2B的区域播放器202接收音频内容并向分离的扬声器210发送所述音频内容(例如，在处理接收到的信号后)。类似于图2A的示例区播放器200，例如，一些实施例中，区域播放器202可以向相同或不同区域内的其他区域播放器、扬声器、接收器等发送第二信号。
图2C的示例区域播放器204不包括放大器，但允许具有内置放大功能的接收器214或其他音频和/或视频类型设备连接到图1的数据网络128，并经由接收器214和分离的扬声器216的集合播放通过数据网络128接收的音频。除了图2C所示的有线耦接之外，分离的扬声器216还可以经由在所述分离的扬声器216和例如区域播放器204和/或接收器214之间的无线通信声道来接收音频内容。一些实施例中，区域播放器202可以向相同或不同区域内的其他区域播放器、扬声器、接收器等发送第二信号。
示例区域播放器包括由California，Santa Barbara的Sonos，Inc.提供的“S5”、“Sonos Play：5”、“Sonos Play：3”、“ZonePlayer120”和“ZonePlayer90”。任何其他之前的、现在的和/或未来的区域播放器可以附加地或备选地用于实现本文公开的示例实施例的区域播放器。这里也可以将区域播放器称作回放设备，区域播放器不限于图2A、2B和2C所示的具体示例。例如，区域播放器可以包括有线或无线头戴式耳机。在其他示例中，区域播放器可以包括低音炮。在另一示例中，区域播放器可以包括长条状音箱。一个示例中，区域播放器可以包括Apple iPodTM或类似设备的对接站或与其进行交互。一些实施例中，区域播放器可以将例如从第一区域播放器接收的一个或多个信号中继到另一回放设备。一些实施例中，区域播放器可以接收第一信号并产生与所述第一信号相对应的输出，并且可以同时或分别接收第二信号并向另一区域播放器、扬声器、接收器等发送或中继所述第二信号。因此，本文所述的示例区域播放器可以用作回放设备，同时在区域播放器网络中操作为集线器。这种情况下，与第一信号相对应的媒体内容可以不同于与第二信号相对应的媒体内容。
图3示出了对接站302中的无线控制器300的示例图式。控制器300可以对应于图1的控制设备130。控制器300具有触摸屏304，触摸屏304允许用户与控制器300进行交互以便例如获取和导航音频项目的播放列表、控制一个或多个区域播放器的操作以及提供对系统配置100的整体控制。特定实施例中，可以使用任何数量的控制器来控制系统配置100。特定实施例中，可以限制能够控制系统配置100的控制器的数量。控制器可以是无线的，例如无线控制器300，或有线连接到数据网络128。此外，运行在任何具有网络功能的便携式设备(例如，iPhoneTM、ipadTM、AndroidTM电话)或任何其它智能电话或具有网络功能的设备上的应用可以通过连接到数据网络128而用作控制器。运行在膝上式计算机或台式PC或Mac上的应用也可用作控制器。示例控制器包括由California，Santa Barbara的Sonos，Inc.提供的“Controller200”、“Controller foriPhone”、“Controller for iPad”、“Controller forAndroid”、“Controller for Mac or PC”。这种应用的灵活性及其与新型便携式设备端口连接的能力是有利的。
返回参考图1的系统配置100，具体区域可以包含一个或多个区域播放器。例如，图1的家庭活动室包含两个区域播放器106和108，而将厨房示出为具有一个区域播放器102。通过将区域播放器置于房间或空间内并经由控制器130将所述区域播放器分配给新的或已有的区域，可以动态配置区域。这样，可以创建区域、将区域与其他区域结合、移除区域、给予区域特定名称(例如，“厨房”)，如果如此编程的话。将区域播放器102到124直接或间接地耦接到数据网络，例如图1所示的数据网络128。数据网络128在附图中表示为八边形，以便在图中所示的其它组件中突出。尽管将数据网络128示出在单个位置，然而应理解可以将这种网络分布在系统配置100中和其周围。
具体地，数据网络128可以是有线网络、无线网络或两者的组合。一些实施例中，基于私有网状网络，将区域播放器102-124中的一个或多个无线耦接到所述数据网络128。一些实施例中，使用非网状拓扑将区域播放器102-124中的一个或多个无线耦接到数据网络128。一些实施例中，使用以太网或类似技术，将区域播放器102-124中的一个或多个有线耦接到数据网络128。除了连接到数据网络128的一个或多个区域播放器102-124之外，数据网络128还可以允许访问广域网，例如，互联网。
特定实施例中，可以通过将区域播放器102-124中的任何一个或某种其它连接设备连接到宽带路由器，来创建数据网络。然后可以向数据网络128有线或无线地添加其他区域播放器102-124。例如，可以通过简单地按压区域播放器本身上的按钮，来将区域播放器(例如，区域播放器102-124中的任何一个)添加到系统配置100，其中按压区域播放器本身上的按钮使得能够实现到数据网络128的连接。例如，可以将宽带路由器连接到互联网服务提供商(ISP)。宽带路由器可以用于形成系统配置100内的另一数据网络，系统配置100可以用于其他应用(例如，上网)。数据网络128还可用于其它应用中，如果如此编程的话。此外，特定实施例中，数据网络128是在家庭中的其他应用使用的相同网络。
特定实施例中，每个区域都可以从与另一区域相同的音频源进行播放，或每个区域都可以从不同音频源进行播放。例如，某人可以在庭院里烧烤并通过区域播放器124收听爵士音乐，同时某人在厨房准备食物并通过区域播放器102收听古典音乐。此外，某人可以通过区域播放器110在办公室收听通过区域播放器124在庭院上播放的同一爵士音乐。一些实施例中，通过区域播放器110和124播放的爵士音乐是同步播放的。区域之间的同步播放允许某人在经过区域同时无缝收听该音频。此外，可以使区域处于“派对模式”，使得所有相关区域同步播放音频。
特定实施例中，区域包含两个或多个区域播放器。例如，家庭活动室包含两个区域播放器106和108，家庭影院室至少包含区域播放器116、118和120。区域可以配置为包含所需数目的区域播放器，例如，家庭影院室可能包含其他区域播放器来播放来自5.1声道或更大音频源的音频(例如，用5.1或更大音频声道编码的电影)。如果区域包含两个或多个区域播放器，例如，家庭活动室中的两个区域播放器106和108，则所述两个区域播放器106和108可以配置为同步播放相同音频源，或所述两个区域播放器106和108可以配对以便播放例如左右声道的两个独立声音。换言之，可以通过两个区域播放器106和108再现或增强声音的立体声效果，在所述两个区域播放器106和108中，一个用于左声音，另一个用于右声音。特定实施例中，配对的区域播放器可以与其它区域播放器同步播放音频。
特定实施例中，三个或多个区域播放器可以配置为播放以三个声道或更多声音编码的音频的各个声道。例如，家庭影院室示出了区域播放器116、118和120。如果将声音编码为2.1声道音频，则可以将该区域播放器116配置为播放左声道音频，区域播放器118可以配置为播放右声道音频，区域播放器120可以配置为播放低音频率。其它配置是可能的并依赖于区播放器的数目和音频的类型。此外，特定区域可以配置为在一个情况下(例如，当播放来自电影的音频时)播放5.1声道音频，然后(例如，当播放来自二声道源的音频时)动态切换至播放立体声。
特定实施例中，可以对两个或多个区域播放器进行声音合并以便形成单个合并的区域播放器。合并的区域播放器(由多个单独的设备构成)可以配置为与未合并的区域播放器或配对的区域播放器不同地处理并再现声音，这是因为，合并的区域播放器具有额外的扬声器驱动器，声音可以从所述额外的扬声器驱动器传递。合并的区域播放器还可以与单个区域播放器或另一合并的区域播放器配对。优选地将合并的回放设备的每个播放设备设置为合并的模式。
根据一些实施例，可以继续进行任何以下操作：例如，对区域播放器进行分组、合并和配对，直到完成所需配置。优选地，通过控制接口(例如，使用控制器130)执行分组、合并和配对动作，而不是通过例如将扬声器线缆物理连接和重新连接到独立的分立扬声器以创建不同配置。如此，这里所述的特定实施例提供了更加灵活和动态的平台，可以通过该平台向端用户提供声音再现。
由区域播放器102-124播放的音频内容的源是多种多样的。可以通过数据网络128访问来自存储在计算机或网络连接的存储设备(NAS)上的个人库的音乐并对其进行播放。可以通过数据网络128访问互联网无线电台、节目秀和播客。通过数据网络128来访问使用户流传递和下载音乐和音频内容的音乐服务。此外，例如可以经由与区域播放器的线入连接，从传统源(例如，唱盘或CD播放器)获得音乐。例如，还可以通过Apple公司的AirPlayTM无线技术访问音频内容。可以通过数据网络128和/或控制器130在区域播放器102至124之间共享从一个或多个源接收的音频内容。上述音频内容的源在本文中指的是基于网络的音频信息源。然而基于网络的音频信息源不限于此。
示例家庭影院区域播放器116、118、120耦接到诸如电视132之类的音频信息源。在一些示例中，电视132用作家庭影院区域播放器116、118、120的音频源，而在其他示例中，可以与音频系统中的任何区域播放器102-124共享来自电视132的示例音频信息。
III.示例回放设备
现参照图4，示出了根据实施例的区域播放器400的示例功能框图。图4的区域播放器400包括网络接口402、处理器408、存储器410、音频处理组件412、模块414、音频放大器416和与音频放大器416耦接的扬声器单元418。图2A示出了这种区域播放器的示例图示。其它类型的区域播放器可以不包括扬声器单元418(例如，如图2B所示)或音频放大器416(例如，如图2C所示)。此外，应认识到，可以将区域播放器400集成在另一组件中。例如，区域播放器400可以构造为用于室内或室外使用的灯的一部分。
返回参考图4，网络接口402促使数据网络(例如，图1的数据网络128)上的区域播放器和其他设备与区域播放器400之间的数据流动。在一些实施例中，网络接口402可以管理将音频源或文件封装为通过数据网络发送的较小数据包，或将接收到的数据包重新封装为原始源或文件。在一些实施例中，网络接口402还可以处理每个数据包的地址部分，使得数据包可以到达正确的目的地或拦截以区域播放器400为目的地的数据包。因此，在特定实施例中，每个数据包包括基于网络协议(IP)的源地址以及基于IP的目的地地址。
在一些实施例中，网络接口402可以包括无线接口404和有线接口406中的一个或二者。无线接口404(也被称为RF接口)提供网络接口功能，以便区域播放器400根据通信协议(例如，无线标准IEEE802.11a、802.11b、802.11g、802.11n或802.15中的任何一个)与其他设备(例如，其他区域播放器、扬声器、接收器、与数据网络128关联的组件等)进行无线通信。为了接收无线信号并且将该无线信号提供给无线接口404，以及为了发送无线信号，图4的区域播放器400包括一个或多个天线420。有线接口406提供网络接口功能，以便区域播放器400根据通信协议(例如，IEEE802.3)与其他设备进行有线通信。在一些实施例中，区域播放器包括接口404和406二者。在一些实施例中，区域播放器400仅包括无线接口404或者仅包括有线接口406。
在一些实施例中，处理器408是时钟驱动的电子设备，配置为根据存储器410中存储的指令来处理输入数据。存储器410是可加载有一个或多个软件模块414的数据存储设备，所述软件模块414可以由处理器408执行以实现特定任务。在所示实施例中，存储器410是存储可以由处理器408执行的指令的有形机器可读介质。在一些实施例中，任务可以是：区域播放器400从网络上的另一区域播放器或设备获取音频数据。在一些实施例中，任务可以是：区域播放器400向网络上的另一区域播放器或设备发送音频数据。在一些实施例中，任务可以是：区域播放器400与一个或多个附加区域播放器同步回放音频。在一些实施例中，任务可以是：将区域播放器400与一个或多个区域播放器进行配对以创建多声道音频环境。可以经由一个或多个软件模块414和处理器408来实现附加或备选的任务。
音频处理组件412可以包括一个或多个数模转换器(DAC)、音频预处理组件、音频增强组件、或者数字信号处理器等。在特定实施例中，由音频处理组件412处理和/或有意地改变经由网络接口402获取到的音频。此外，音频处理部件412可以产生模拟音频信号。然后将经处理的模拟音频信号提供给音频放大器416，以便通过扬声器418进行回放。另外，音频处理组件412可以包括必要电路以处理作为输入的模拟或数字信号，从而从区域播放器400播放，发送给网络上的另一区域播放器，或者既播放也发送给网络上的另一区域播放器。示例输入包括线入连接(例如，自动检测3.5mm音频线入连接)。
音频放大器416是将音频信号放大到用于驱动一个或多个扬声器418的电平的设备。该一个或多个扬声器418可以包括单独换能器(例如，“驱动器”)或完整的扬声器系统，所述扬声器系统具有包含一个或多个驱动器的外壳。例如，特定的驱动器可以是低音炮(用于低频)、中间范围驱动器(中频)以及高音喇叭(高频)。外壳例如可以是密封的或有端口的。
区域播放器400在这里还可以被称作回放设备。示例回放设备包括由California，Santa Barbara的Sonos，Inc.制造的Play：5。Play：5是具有内置放大器和扬声器的示例区域播放器。特别地，Play：5是五驱动扬声器系统，包括两个高音喇叭、两个中间范围驱动器和一个低音炮。当经由Play：5播放音频内容时，音轨的左音频数据从左高音喇叭和左中间范围驱动器发出，音轨的右音频数据从右高频喇叭和右中间范围驱动器发出，单声道低音从低音炮发出。此外，两个中间范围驱动器和两个高音喇叭都具有相同的均衡(或基本相同的均衡)。也就是说，它们都发送相同的频率，但是来自不同音频声道。可以从Play：5播放来自互联网电台、在线音乐和视频服务、下载的音乐、模拟音频输入、电视、DVD等的音频。尽管Play：5是具有扬声器的区域播放器的示例，然而应理解，具有扬声器的区域播放器不限于具有特定数目扬声器的播放器(例如，如Play：5的五个扬声器)，而是可以包含一个或多个扬声器。此外，区域播放器可以是另一设备的一部分，所述设备甚至可以用于不同于音频的目的(例如，灯)。
IV.示例性控制器
现在参考图5，示出了示例控制器500，该示例控制器500可以对应于图1中的控制设备130。控制器500可用于促使对系统中的多媒体应用、自动化和其他方面的控制。具体地，控制器500可被配置成促使选择在网络上可用的多个音频源，并且使得能够通过无线网络接口508控制一个或多个区域播放器(如，图1中的区域播放器102-124)。根据一个实施例，无线通信基于工业标准(例如，红外线、无线电、无线标准IEEE802.11a、802.11b、802.11g、802.11n或802.15)。此外，当正在经由控制器500访问或者正在经由区域播放器播放具体音频时，可以从区域播放器或其他电子设备向控制器500发送与所述音频源相关联的图像(例如，相册封面)或任何其他数据，以供显示。
控制器500具有允许用户与控制器500进行交互(例如，导航多个多媒体项目的播放列表，以及控制一个或多个区域播放器的操作)的屏幕502和输入接口514。例如，控制器500上的屏幕502可以是LCD屏幕。屏幕500与屏幕驱动器504通信，并且接受屏幕驱动器504的命令，该屏幕驱动器504由微控制器(例如，处理器)506控制。存储器510可以加载有一个或多个应用模块512，该一个或多个应用模块512可以在有或没有经由用户接口514的用户输入的情况下由微控制器506执行，以便实现特定任务。在一些实施例中，应用模块512配置为：促使将多个所选的区域播放器分成区域组，并且同步区域播放器以便音频回放。在一些实施例中，应用模块512配置为控制区域组中的区域播放器的音频声音(例如，音量)。在操作中，当微控制器506执行一个或多个应用模块512时，屏幕驱动器504产生控制信号以驱动屏幕502相应地显示应用特定的用户界面。
控制器500包括促使与区域播放器进行无线通信的网络接口508。在一些实施例中，经由网络接口508发送诸如音量控制和音频回放同步之类的命令。在一些实施例中，经由网络接口508在区域播放器与控制器之间传输所保存的区域组配置。控制器500可以控制一个或多个区域播放器，如图1中的102-124。对于特定系统，可以存在多于一个的控制器。此外，控制器可以集成到区域播放器中。
应该注意，其他支持网络的设备，如或任何其它智能电话或支持网络的设备(例如，联网的计算机，如PC或)也可以用作控制器，以便在特定环境下与区域播放器交互或控制区域播放器。在一些实施例中，可以将软件应用或升级下载到支持网络的设备以执行本文所述的功能。
在特定实施例中，用户可以从控制器500创建至少包括两个区域播放器的区域组。区域组中的区域播放器可以以同步方式播放音频，使得该区域组中的所有区域播放器以同步方式回放相同音频源或相同音频源的列表，使得不会(或实质上不会)听到可听延迟或暂停。类似地，在一些实施例中，当用户从控制器500增大该组的音频音量时，将增加该组的音频音量的信号或数据发送给区域播放器之一，并使该组中的其他区域播放器一同增大音量。
经由控制器500用户可以通过激活“链接区域”或“添加区域”软按钮将区域播放器分组成区域组，或者可以通过激活“取消链接区域”或“放弃区域”按钮将区域组取消分组。例如，用于将多个区域播放器“联合”到一起以便进行音频回放的一种机制是将多个区域播放器链接在一起以形成组。为了将多个区域播放器链接在一起，用户可以手动地逐个链接每个区域播放器或房间。例如，假设存在包括下述区域的多区域系统：浴室、卧室、书房、餐厅、家庭活动室和休息室。
在特定实施例中，用户可以例如通过以下方式链接六个区域播放器中的任意数目的区域播放器：从单个区域开始，然后手动将每个区域链接到该区域。
在特定实施例中，可以使用用以创建区域场景或主题(在首先创建区域场景之后)的命令，将一组区域动态链接在一起。例如，“早晨”区域场景命令可以在一个动作中将卧室、办公室和厨房区域链接到一起。如果没有这种单个命令，则用户需要手动地并单独链接每个区域。单个命令可以包括鼠标点击、鼠标双击、按钮按压、手势或者某种其他程式化动作。可以编程其它种类的区域场景。
在特定实施例中，可以基于时间(例如，闹钟功能)触发区域场景。例如，一个区域场景可被设置为在上午8：00应用。系统可以自动链接合适的区域，设置要播放的特定音乐，并然后在定义的持续时间之后停止音乐。例如，尽管可以基于时间将任何特定区域触发为“开”或“关”状态，但是区域场景使得链接到该场景的任何区域能够在特定时间和/或在特定持续时间内播放预定的音频(例如，喜欢的歌曲、预定义的播放列表)。如果因为任何原因(例如，空的播放列表、没有连接到共享、失败的通用即插即用(UPnP)、无针对互联网电台的互联网连接等等)未能播放所调度的音乐，则备用蜂鸣器可被编程为发声。例如，蜂鸣器可以包括存储在区域播放器中的声音文件。
V.示例Ad-Hoc网络
现在将结合图6至图8B来提供特定的具体示例，从而仅出于说明的目的来描述特定的基本系统和方法，以提供和促使与回放网络的连接。图6示出了存在三个区域播放器602、604和606以及控制器608，区域播放器602、604和606以及控制器608形成了网络分支，所述网络分支也称作Ad-Hoc网络610。网络610可以是无线的、有线的或者有线和无线相结合的。通常，Ad-Hoc(或“自组”)网络是局域网或其他小型网络，其中不存在针对全部业务量的一个接入点。例如，利用所建立的Ad-Hoc网络610，设备602、604、606和608可以以“对等”通信方式彼此通信。此外，设备可以加入/离开网络610，网络610将自动自己重新配置，而无需用户重新配置网络610。
通过使用Ad-Hoc网络610，设备602、604、606和608可以共享或交换一个或多个音频源，并分成组以播放相同或不同的音频源。例如，设备602和604可以分组为回放一个音乐，同时设备606回放另一个音乐。换言之，如图6所示，设备602、604、606和608形成分发音频和/或再现声音的HOUSEHOLD。本文中，术语HOUSEHOLD(以大写字母表示以避免与用户的住宅混淆)用于表示协作提供应用或服务的联网设备的聚合。HOUSEHOLD的示例以家庭10(或家庭标识符)来标识。
在特定实施例中，家庭标识符(HHID)是计算机产生的帮助确保其唯一性的短字符串或标识符。因此，网络610可以由唯一的HHID和配置变量或参数的唯一集合(如，声道(例如，相应的频带)、SSID(字母数字字符的序列，作为无线网络的名称)和WEP密钥(有线等同私钥或其他安全密钥)来表征。在特定实施例中，将SSID设置为与HHID相同。
在特定实施例中，每个HOUSEHOLD包括两种类型的网络节点：控制点(CP)和区域播放器(ZP)。控制点控制总体网络建立过程和排序，包括所需网络参数(例如，KEP密钥)的自动产生。在实施例中，CP还为用户提供HOUSEHOLD配置用户界面。例如，CP功能可以由运行CP应用模块的计算机或者由也运行CP应用模块的手持控制器(例如，控制器308)来提供。区域播放器是放置网络上以参与自动配置过程的任何其他设备。例如，作为本文使用的标记，ZP包括控制器308或计算设备。

VI.示例音乐共享和回放配置
特定实施例使用户能够从音乐播放应用(例如，基于浏览器的应用、本地音乐播放器、其他多媒体应用等等)向本地多媒体内容回放(例如，SonosTM)系统流传递音乐。特定实施例提供了提供了安全的系统和方法用于多个系统和位置上的多媒体内容回放。特定的实施例促使内容伙伴和回放系统之间的整合并且支持这种内容和系统的维护。
图7示出了包括多个网络的系统，所述网络包括基于云的网络和至少一个本地回放网络。网络包括多个回放设备或播放器，然而应理解网络可以包含仅一个回放设备。在特定实施例中，每个播放器具备获取其内容以用于回放的能力。例如，控制和内容获取可以是分布式或集中式的。输入可以包括：流传递内容提供商输入、第三方应用输入、移动设备输入、用户输入和/或输入至云以用于本地分布和回放的其他回放网络输入。
如图7的示例系统700所示，多个内容提供商720-750可以经由云和/或其他网络710与一个或多个本地回放网络760-770相连。通过使用云710，多媒体回放系统720(例如，SonosTM)、移动设备730、第三方应用740、零售位置750等可以向本地回放网络760、770提供(所请求的或其他的)多媒体内容。在每个本地网络760、770内，控制器762、772和/或回放设备764、774可以提供歌曲标识符、歌曲名称、播放列表标识符、播放列表名称、流派、偏好等等，和/或简单地从经由云连接的系统接收内容。
例如，用户在通信时在她的智能电话上收听第三方音乐应用(例如，PandoraTM、RhapsodyTM、SpotifyTM等等)。她正在收听当前频道，当她走进门到家里时，选择在她的家庭音乐回放系统(例如，SonosTM)上继续播放该频道的选项。回放系统从她电话上的所选频道上的相同的点拾取，并在与家庭回放系统相连的扬声器和/或其他回放设备上输出该内容(例如，该歌曲)。例如，可以向回放设备传送统一资源标识符(URI)(例如，统一资源定位符(URL))以从云和/或其他联网资源获取内容。例如，诸如区域播放器之类的回放设备可以自己获取内容而不用控制器。一旦区域播放器具有歌曲和/或播放列表的URL(或某种其他标识或地址)，区域播放器就可以自己运行来获取内容。例如，可以从互联网而不是本地设备(例如，紧致盘(CD))获取歌曲和/或其他多媒体内容。第三方应用可以打开或使用应用编程接口(API)向家庭回放系统传送音乐，而不与该家庭回放系统紧密耦接。
在确定用于回放的播放列表和/或其他内容的应用的另一示例中，用户在家里使用他的Mac Book ProTM收听在线音乐服务上的音乐(例如，turnable.fm或其他虚拟房间，用户可以进入该房间以从多个在线流行音乐节目主持人(DJ)中进行选择，从而决定接下来要播放什么)。该用户喜欢服务提供的唯一用户体验，并且频繁转换房间以发现新的音乐。为了使声音质量最大化，该用户在他的家庭回放系统(例如，SonosTM)上播放音乐。可以向turnable.fm网络应用添加按钮或其他指示符，以将正在播放的内容切换到回放系统以用于输出(例如，切换到SonosTM系统，而不切换到Mac BookTM，或者切换到SonosTM系统和Mac BookTM)。尽管基于网络的应用典型地并不访问本地网络上的项目，但是特定的实施例使得基于第三方基于网络的应用(例如，Turnable.fm)能够以特定的方式与回放系统(例如，SonosTM)会话(例如，可以必须通过用户名和口令登录)，识别出的用户通过网站将音频或者音频和视频下发到回放系统本地网络上的回放设备(例如，区域播放器)以在该回放设备处播放音乐(或某种其他媒体)。

因此，特定实施例提供了交叉服务链接，使得可以从一个用户和/或服务向另一个用户和/或服务传送歌曲标识符以便获取和播放。在电话上有播放列表的用户可以拜访朋友并使用她的账号或她朋友的系统来播放她有权访问的音乐。可以将获取的歌曲本地流传递到用户的电话，或者应用可以向本地回放系统传送歌曲标识符，所述本地回放系统查找歌曲标识符并找到该用户有权播放的可用音频流，然后播放该歌曲。
在另一示例中，用户待在旅馆房间或包括本地回放网络的其他设施中。例如，可以使用旅馆房间中的扬声器和/或其他回放设备(例如，SonosTMPlay：3、Play：5等)来播放该用户通过其回放网络账号、流传递音频源、第三方应用等能够访问的多媒体内容。可以基于可用性、访问、配置、优先级、偏好等等向一个或多个设备输出内容。在特定实施例中，回放网络包括多个节点，每个节点具有响应于输入来播放声音的能力。例如，向最合理连接提供所请求的输入。
在特定实施例中，可以使用电话设备、电视设备等播放音乐、音频、视频和/或其他多媒体内容。在示例中，在本地回放网络上提供麦克风或家庭内线通信系统上的用于通知孩子们饭好了的按钮。
图8示出了向本地回放系统提供音频内容的方法800的流程图。在图8的示例方法800中，第三方应用用作至本地回放系统的“虚拟线入”。在方框810，触发从第三方应用向本地内容回放系统流传递音乐或其他内容。例如，在RhapsodyTM应用上按压“Play to Sonos”按钮。在方框820，向家庭回放网络中的一个或多个组件流传递内容。例如，可以向家庭中的预定区域或播放器流传递音乐。还可以将音乐定向为贯穿家庭在不同区域或播放器中播放。可以基于配置(例如，区域场景、主题等)使得一个或多个区域/播放器方便进行本地网络上的回放。因此，特定实施例使得关于在哪里播放音乐可以有很大的灵活性。例如，可以在厨房、家庭活动室、庭院等播放音乐。此外，可以将音乐重定向到不同的区域。
在方框830，直接从第三方应用或其他外部源向本地回放网络提供输入的内容(例如，音频)流，以用于回放。例如，并不传送音轨标识符，而是将音频流提供给Sonos家庭系统以便向一个或多个所配置的区域回放。在方框840，系统本地回放系统使用流，并在本地回放(例如，SonosTM)网络上(例如，经由区域等)如同其他内容一样播放流。在方框850，回放设备(例如，区域播放器、Play：3TM、Play：5TM等)向流传递内容信号添加定时信息(例如，设备获得流传递音频信号，并重新封装所述流传递信号以用于本地同步回放)。在一些实施例中，不将定时信息添加到信号，除非两个或更多个回放设备被配置为同步播放音频。
图9示出了向本地回放网络提供音频内容的方法900的流程图。在图9的示例方法900中，提供统一资源标识符(URI)处理机方法以用于内容输出。在方框910，在第三方应用(例如，FacebookTM或Twitter)中嵌入链接或其他引用。在方框920，当选择(例如，点击)链接时，启动本地回放(例如，SonosTM)控制器(如果其可用的话)。在方框930，应用(例如，在电话、平板电脑、计算机等上访问的)向本地回放系统(例如，SonosTM)控制器传送相关内容(例如，音轨等)的URI。在方框940，本地控制器经由URI输出相关内容(例如，播放音乐)。例如，从云向本地回放网络上的一个或多个回放设备流传递音乐。
在特定实施例中，与操作系统相关联的应用可以注册为处理以特定前缀开始的所有URI(URL)，并且可以定义如何将数据编码到这些URL中，因此本地回放系统应用可以产生链接(例如“sonos：”)，并将该链接置于消息(例如，电子邮件、文本消息、即时消息(IM)等)中。注册为处理这种URL的本地回放应用可以解析URL以确定要播放的音乐、播放列表、流传递无线电台等。这启动了控制器应用。例如，如果第一收听者喜欢歌曲并推送了该歌曲，则TwitterTM可以包括可点击的链接，所述可点击的链接启动回放应用并且在本地系统能够找到该歌曲的情况下(例如，在具有该应用的情况下、在对该歌曲有权/可以访问该歌曲的情况下等等)在本地回放系统上开始音乐播放。在特定实施例中，系统知道触发接收方用户的系统而不是发送方用户的系统来基于所发送的链接/标识符播放相关内容。
例如，应用可以注册到系统以处理以定制前缀(例如，HTTP“scheme”)开始的所有URL。例如，Sonos控制器应用可以注册为处理以“sonos：”或“x-sonos：”开始的任何URL。在特定实施例中，回放系统提供商可以定义并公布其URL的格式，使得任何第三方应用都可以创建内容的链接或引用。例如，可以使用查询参数将大量数据编码到URL中。
在示例中，当应用尝试“打开”或“浏览”URL时，系统检查URL的样式是否与注册到应用的“sonos：”样式匹配。如果找到URL处理机应用，则系统启动该应用(例如，该应用可以但不是必须后台运行)，并向该应用传送URL。然后，应用解析URL并基于URL中的数据来执行功能。例如，URL可以包含音乐服务的名称和该应用服务中的播放列表标识符，加上名称SonosTM Zone Player，从而使Sonos控制器开始在该区域播放该播放列表。
图10示出了向本地回放系统提供音频内容的方法1000的流程图。在图10的示例方法1000中，在方框1010，在第三方应用(例如，FacebookTM)中嵌入链接或其他引用。在方框1020，当选择链接时，联系回放系统(例如，SonosTM)服务器并为所述回放系统服务器提供与用于回放的所选内容有关的信息。例如，不启动本地控制器应用，而是关于用于在本地网络上回放的音乐来联系服务器。在方框1030，使用所提供的信息，服务器识别内容，并在用户的本地回放系统上本地提供所述内容。例如，服务器可以然后开始直接在用户的SonosTM系统上播放音乐(例如，不经过SonosTM控制器应用)。
在特定实施例中，提供了“单一登录”技术，使得用户无需重新登入用户名和口令来向回放服务器认证。示例单一登录技术包括FacebookConnectTM、Windows Live IDTM等。
在特定实施例中，不使用诸如“sonos：”链接等规定的链接，而是可以使用常规URL来指向回放系统(例如，SonosTM)网络服务器，所述回放系统网络服务器产生嵌入有特定数据的链接。识别回放系统，并且可以经由本地回放网络(例如，配置用于家庭、旅馆房间等的网状网络)来播放由URL标识的内容。诸如认证、安全性、位置等参数可以配置用于远程内容的本地回放。
图11示出了向本地回放系统提供音频内容的方法1100的流程图。图11的示例方法1100提供了“扔出墙外”方法来实现向本地回放系统的内容传递。在方框1110，第三方应用向多媒体回放设备(例如，SonosTM区域播放器(ZP))提供足够的与内容有关的信息(例如，音轨)，使得在方框1120，本地回放系统(例如，SonosNetTM)可以直接访问内容源，并且在方框1130脱离网络(例如，互联网)或云直接播放内容。
在特定实施例中不涉及本地回放控制器应用。传送到本地回放设备的信息可以包括：单个音轨的标识符、播放列表、流传递无线电台、编程的无线电台等等。该信息还可以包含列表内的当前播放位置，以使得能够几乎无缝地将音乐从便携式设备“移交”到本地回放系统。一旦将音乐信息从第三方应用移交到本地回放系统，这两个系统之间就不会再同步。
第三方应用与本地回放设备(例如，Sonos ZonePlayerTM)之间的连接可以在局域网(LAN)上实现、在云中通过代理服务器远程实现等等。例如，LAN传递方法可以更易于集成到“本质”应用(例如，针对iOS或Android编写的应用)中，代理服务器方法可以对于基于浏览器的第三方应用而言更容易。
在特定实施例中，从第三方应用向本地回放系统提供信息，而无需通过控制器应用或者由控制器应用来路由。本文中，第三方应用与多媒体回放设备(例如，Sonos ZonePlayerTM)通信。例如，可以本地传送信息，而不是通过互联网来传送信息。本地回放设备访问互联网以找到要流传递的内容，第三方应用取代控制器应用(例如，扔出墙外——该应用传送信息，本地回放系统运行该信息)。
特定实施例提供了与图11的“扔出墙外”或单向通信方法类似的方法，区别在于第三方应用不仅告知本地回放系统要播放什么，还保持与本地回放(例如，SonosTM)系统的双向通信。双向通信帮助使得可以实现以下特点：如，保持本地回放队列与用户在第三方应用中正在编辑/管理的队列同步；允许第三方应用获知本地回放系统上当前正在播放什么；允许第三方应用与本地回放系统之间的集成式传输控制等等。
在特定实施例中，本地回放系统可以将信息传送回第三方应用以指示当前回放点(例如，现在正在播放播放列表中的第三首歌曲、播放列表中的第四首歌曲等等)。本地回放系统可以从本地多媒体回放设备向第三方应用传送诸如音量变化之类的参数信息，因此应用可以经由其图形用户界面向用户反映音量的变化。第三方应用可以命令本地回放系统跳过歌曲、进行到特定位置等等。
特定实施例提供了第三方模式，所述第三方模式允许用户从任意本地回放网络(例如，SonosTM)控制器中进行选择，以收听来自其智能电话或平板电脑(例如，AndroidTM设备)上的一个或多个第三方应用的音频。例如，用户可能正在使用本地回放网络控制器应用，并且现在希望第三方应用作为控制器应用内的音频源。那么例如该用户可以选择控制器应用，其中该用户希望该控制器应用播放来自第三方应用的音频。
特定实施例提供了队列管理，以允许第三方应用控制本地回放队列。也就是说，例如，本地回放系统具有队列，但是第三方应用允许用户在队列中进行添加、删除等等。本地回放系统允许用户即时地(on thefly)创建播放列表，而不是从用户当前正在播放的内容切换。例如，如果last.fm用户投票表明他们不喜欢某一首歌曲并且应当跳过这首歌曲，则本地回放系统将会跳过这首歌曲。
特定实施例允许第三方用户应用利用其自己的应用特定队列来覆盖本地回放队列。本地回放系统周期性地获取短的音轨列表以便下一个播放。例如，由第三方应用来确定要播放的音轨列表。在特定实施例中，在本地回放系统与第三方应用之间提供共享队列，以保持本地系统和应用同步。
特定实施例允许经由外部(例如，第三方)应用来控制回放系统功能和/或设置。例如，本地回放系统可以允许音量控制、播放/暂停等等，并且可以与运行在给定平台/操作系统(OS)上的应用交互。特定实施例提供了可以用于访问功能的网络API。
特定实施例促使从家庭外面或者本地回放网络配置处于的其他位置控制本地回放系统。例如，用户可以远离他/她的房子对音乐排队。应用可以促使设置和/或配置。例如，第三方应用可以让用户登入Sonos客户电子邮件地址和口令。应用然后可以请求云中的Sonos服务器确定可以在上面播放音乐的区域组。
以一定程度的独特性足够详细地描述了多种发明方案。本领域技术人员应理解本公开实施例仅是示例性的，可以在不脱离要求保护的本公开的精神和范围的前提下，对部件的布置和组合做出多种改变。本领域技术人员应认识到，尽管这里所讨论的实施例可能关于信息单元的表述包括在格式和布置上的一些限制，然而本实施例具有远超这种实施例的适用性。因此，本公开的范围由所附权利要求而不是实施例的先前描述来限定。
