Description
Process for manufacturing objects molded from vegetable fibers. The present patent relates to a process for manufacturing molded objects made of plant fibers, resistant to the action of humidity and completely impermeable.
This process allows in particular the use of inferior quality wood as well as (the all wood waste for the manufacture of panels, planks and all objects of various shapes.
The present process is characterized by this fact that the vegetable fibers are agglutinated by means of a casein glue and are subjected, during their molding, to both strong compression and the action of heat.
By way of example, an embodiment of the present method will be described below.
Vegetable fibers, obtained for example by defibrating branches, logs, etc. are immersed in a bath composed of casein glue diluted in water, for example in the proportion of 1 µl, of casein glue to 15 liters of water.
This casein glue consists of a solution of casein in ammonia comprising approximately 88% casein and 12% ammonia. After immersion in this bath, the fibers are drained and placed in the wet state in molds of suitable shape for the objects to be manufactured.
splitting their molding, the fibers thus coated with binder are strongly cornered and at the same time heated to a temperature of about 130 C. Under the action (heat, ammonia and water, the fibers of which are impregnated, evaporate, and ultimately all that remains as a binding agent is pure casein.
Due to its special nature, the latter ensures a perfect bond of the fibers and has, in addition, the advantage of resisting the action (humidity, so due to the molded products thus obtained always retain a cohesion perfect and remain undeformable even when wet.
In order to make the produced products rot-proof, one can add in the agglutinating bath bare antisepticil material such as qiac. for example, foriniqite acid. It is understood that the composition the casein glue indicated above is only given as an indication, and that they also use any solution of ca seine containing, for example, either car bonate of magnesia , either slaked lime, be sodium borate.
As has been said above, the present process makes it possible to manufacture objects of various shapes; by this process, one can obtain in particular either panels, all dimensions and of all shapes, with or not parts in relief offering the aspect (the sculp tures, or the boards likely to be used in cabinet making, ci to be worked like ordinary antlers.
For the purpose (to give it to the panels, boards or various objects manufactured by the present process, The appearance of the different wood species, we can sprinkle the external face of the molded product, during its baking in its mold, with sawdust the desired wood species, for example walnut powder, mahogany, rosewood etc .: the fibers can also be colored before gluing.
